Chapter 10: Sensitive

As a wife-to-be of the next King, a princess should learn how they should act around the King.

"This is called Assistencia, you do not just stand beside the King but help him in decisions and as a wife as well. The whole lesson will range from learning basic history, politic, etiquette, and seduction," The tutor said while looking at the books on the table in front of the Princess.

Princess Irie's face suddenly went cold, 'seduction?' she asks herself.

"Since Prince Tris is not available to introduce the subject to you personally and tell his specific qualifications in how he wants you to aid him, we shall start in the etiquettes a Queen should have."

The tutor picks a book and opened it on a specific page and gave it to Princess Irie.

"This, the 10 steps of a Queen, read it and analyze. Tell me how it works and when it should be applied."

Princess Irie reads the chapter and as she reads on, her eyebrows furrow, 'This is like being a dog to a king!' she thought while reading: "A Queen is to walk 1 meter away from the King, following him from behind," "A Queen is to serve the King privately (e.g., tea serving, food serving, bathing, etc.)"..."

She scratches her arms in disgust, she has never seen a woman be less than a dog just for a man.

She pities every Queen that has passed before her as well as Prince Tris' mother.

Bea just stands behind her, afraid because the Princess may change if ever she will bind by the rules.

A Queen is never alone except during her sleep and she will have at least 10 maids-in-waiting with her, which means she can never call Princess Lorainne 'Rain' anymore.

"Now, tell me, what is it about?" The Tutor asks.

Princess Irie is in conflict right now, she wants to yell that she will not be doing any of the etiquettes even if she dies, but she has to act as Princess Irie, a woman of rules.

"The first step is to walk one meter away from His Majesty and follow him behind. I can see this as a respect for the power of the King, a mere woman, even a Queen cannot be equal to him," Princess Irie seriously answers, as if she really understands and accepts it.

"Yes, that is true, Your Highness... and?"

"The second step talks about serving the King wholeheartedly in private, this can be done when they are having a talk or if they are in their bedroom. A Queen should serve her husband for her whole life and show her respect and loyalty... uh... until she dies?" Princess Irie lost her thought when she reads a chapter where it talks about a Queen from the East.

She acts as an equal to the King, she decides on law and matters of politics and government like the King. She can talk back to the King and question his actions. 'Woah,' Princess Irie's eyes went wide in amazement.

The Tutor went to her and check what it is she finds amazing that she even lost herself in answering while Princess Irie's in deep thought about it.

"No!" The tutor took the book and looks at the Princess with a terrified face.

"THAT IS A CRIME!" The tutor shouted as she tears down the page about the Queen of East, "Such etiquette deserves to burn into dust, how can she act as if she's the King! She's a woman!" The tutor almost lost herself.

'If you're in my world, you'll be proud of her,' Princess Irie thought while sipping her tea.

"I apologize for my behavior, Your Highness, I will accept any punishment you bestow upon me," The Tutor bows down in front of the Princess.

"Then, the punishment I will give you is..."

The tutor trembles while acting tough.

"Tell me more about the East Queen," Princess Irie puts down her cup of tea.

The Tutor looks at her like she's seen a beast, "I WILL CHOOSE TO DIE THAN TO BLEMISH THE NAME OF THE PRINCE TRIS!" she shouted at the top of her lungs.

Princess Irie blinks thousand in disbelief that someone shouted at her that hard.

Even though her parents shouted at her when she decided to leave, she has never heard anyone with such voice speaking to her.

Suddenly tears stream down her face while staring at the tutor with a frown, "Your Highness!" the tutor is shocked to see her crying, she kneels with her head on the floor, "I will accept death, Your Highness, just don't let anyone know about this."

Bea ran to Princess Irie and as she caresses her back, Princess Irie's sobs let out.

She trembles and she can't breathe properly, she's scared.

'What is this? I am so stupid, why did her voice make me scared that I am even crying? Tris, where are you? Your tutor screamed at me!' she thought while clinging to Bea's arms.

The Knights suddenly barged in the room while Prince Tris follows inside.

He just wants to check on the Princess but as soon as he heard the tutor's voice and Princess' Lorainne's calling, he called the Knights.

He froze when he saw the Princess clinging into her maid's arms while crying.

The tutor is on the floor while trembling.

He wants to shout at the tutor and ask what happened but he immediately ran to Princess Irie, it's the first time he'll see her awake.

"Hush, no one will hurt you," he kneels and held the Princess' hands.

Bea smiled and pushes the Princess to look at the Prince.

Her frowns, her tears, her scared eyes, 'My, aren't you too sensitive?' the prince thought and kissed her hand.

He saw the book and the torn page about the Queen of East.

He already knew what happened, Tutors of Queens are very strict and are against the Queen of East due to her way of assisting the King, saying that it is a form of harm to the throne.

"Take the tutor to the priest, he will be the one to judge for her crime," The Prince ordered as he stands up and picks up the Princess.

The knights drag the tutor who didn't even budge.

The Prince felt her trembling hands and he clicked his tongue, "You're still weak but you insisted on taking your lessons."

The Princess feels too weak to speak and move, she can't push the Prince away from carrying her.

Bea smiles sweetly while watching the Prince take the Princess to her room.

'Ah, the Princess is too cute, the Prince can't resist!' Bea thought while fixing the books.

She took a book which talks a lot about the East Queen for the Princess secretly.

"You can talk back to me but you suddenly cried because someone shouted at you, you should check your priority of fears right, Lorainne," the Prince said while on their way to the Princess' room.

She's still crying and trembling, 'I look so stupid,' she thought while biting her lips.

"Stop that, it's going to bleed if you bite too hard."

Princess Irie looks at him, he seemed annoyed but worried at the same time.

'She should visit the Priest often. She has to be fearless if she wants to live. A simple shout shouldn't make her cry,' the Prince thought.

He softly puts her to her bed as Princess Irie wipes her tears away, the Princes takes her shoe off.

She suddenly felt embarrassed and pulls her feet away.

The Prince just stare at her coldly and she puts her feet back to his hands.

She blushes while breathing in and out to calm herself.

"You shouldn't take that lesson. I'll tell you how to act and how to help me, you don't need rules and words to describe your loyalty to your husband," the Prince said while slightly blushing.

He puts the Princess' shoes under and sits down on the bed.

"From what I can see, you don't even like to get married to me," he said faintly.

He clenched the bedsheets and sighs while remembering what Michael reported:

"Your friend, Miss Irie, is nowhere to be found, but we saw a cabin on the plains and when we checked, we saw a sketch of you, it has your name and it says happy birthday," Michael said and handed the Prince a sketch.

He looks at it and on his terror, he saw the calligraphy of Irie.

"And... there were purple roses in its backyard," Michael added.

"I know it's impossible, but your friend might be from the south."

He just woke up when Princess Irie pulls the quilt and lays down.

He looks at her, with her closed eyes, 'You look like her, but... you can't be her.'

"I'll sleep, go out, Tris. Or you want to watch this beauty rest?" Princess Irie didn't open her eyes as she speaks.

"You can just call my name when something scares you, you know?" Prince Tris stands up and fixes the quilt.

He felt her call his name when she was screamed at earlier.

She blushed when she remembers that she was looking for Tris earlier, complaining about the tutor given to her.

"Yeah, be gone," Princess Irie replies.

Prince Tris smiles while staring at her.

The specks of dust that fly on air are visible under the sunlight from the window which lights up the room.

'Irie and you will be good friends,' he thought while closing the door.
