Chapter 11: Thaloss the Informant

A shadow figure slowly emerges from the depth of the sewer. The person that was sent by the assassin guild made its silent appearance below the crowd of the market. Guided by only his trained vision, he walked the dark corridor of the sewer.

As the figure walked the corridor, he narrowed his vision to the wall on his left. He slowly approached that seemingly thick wall as he was trying to search for something on the wall.

"Click" A mechanic sound can be briefly, as the figure push something.

"Krrrrt." The wall suddenly split and opened up a new passage for him.

He calmly entered the passage as he grabbed the torch on his right.

"Krrrrt." The wall slowly closed itself and left no gap.

The figure light the torch and slowly walked the stair that led to a door.

He opened the door with such a murderous intent and a voice behind the door greet him.

"Welcome, how can I help you dear customer?" A man in well mannered cloths asked.

This man wore a unique clothing set that consist of black black galoon hat, and black cloth similar to that of a merchant. He wore white gloves, pitch black shoes and a red tie that made the impression of normal people rather not fond of his fashion.

"Cut the formalities, Thaloss. You know why I am here." The man figure coldly replied him.

"Ahhh, yes yes. You want to know about the princess whereabout right? Her whereabout is a hot topic nowadays, especially after your people has taken interest in her. But the information ain't that cheap. You of all people should know that." The merchant figure replied.

"Not cutting your neck in half is already an expensive payment for you." The man figure threatened.

"Sure, kill me and you won't know anything." the merchant replied.

Thaloss, he has been living his life as a professional information broker. Daily threat like this just like snacks for him. His business running wild from just exchanging information especially critical political mapping and crucial kingdom informations. However dealing with Thaloss required a lot of preparation since he was a man of such cunning ability. Nothing can prove certain death even thousand threats directed to him. Who knows, maybe behind his sitting figure lies a fearsome guardian?

The man figure slowly scanned the area. Indeed, as he thought there is a presence concealed itself in this room unseen by eyes but the bloodlust leaked out in the thin air. This presence indeed rival him in terms of bloodlust no matter how much it concealed itself. Just a wrong move, a bloodshed can happen here and right now.

"Here is the first installment payment, if your information indeed trustworthy we will pay the rest." The man let out a coin pouch.

Thaloss grabbed the pouch and start counting the coins. A total sum of 50 gold coins stacked in front of him. As for comparison, a gold coin can be exchanged with a luxurious life for a month and ten gold coins can buy a huge house. Such a tremendous gift for one to assume the generousity to give 50 gold coins.

"I thought that assasin guild is filled with stingy people, but you prove me wrong. I am impressed with you. So, what do you want to know then?" The merchant asked in joyous tone, knowing that the customer is such a "well mannered" people.

"Tell me where is she.." A firm tone from the man figure replied the merchant's joyous mood coldly.

"She stayed in a newly renovated inn until yesterday when your man tried to kidnap her. I heard that now she is going to stay in southern part of the city. The last information led that she and her party are going to stay for a while there." The merchant spilled the information just like a water flow from its source.

This Thaloss indeed infamous for its "deeds" collecting information. Nothing escaped from his invicible eyes and ears in this city. Everywhere nobles or counts and even king himself moves, he knows earlier. That is why he was well known as the Eyes of Kurdij. Even though Kurdij city not smaller than the regional size of the Srivi Mojo, Thaloss could still easily grabbed the entire city as its own cardbox. That is how his influence extends in this city.

After talked for a while Thaloss stopped his conversation. "I guess this is enough." He told the man.

"... Thank you." The man figure nodded and opened the door.

"Heh, even assassin nowadays is indeed becomes softer. Thanks? bullshit. Just pay me the rest later." He shouted to the walking man figure.

The man figure returned back to the corridor of the sewer and slowly blends with the shadow. Just like the beginning and true core of assassin guild, once a shadow should always merge with darkness.

---

Meanwhile on the street.

Gen and his party walked the road, try to find another place to stay. Their previous location was marked by some unknown people, so there is no other choice but just to move away.

Gen, however always feels unease after they left the inn. Unease he never felt before. Growing stronger everytime. The timing couldn't be much more worse since there are unknown people after them.

"I think we should cover ourselves more, we must move inside the crowds, who knows where they watch us from." Hamengku Suro told the group suddenly after they take a rest.

"We must move very far away from this place. Even leave this Kurdij city if needed." The King replied.

"Agreed, His Majesty. But it would be so much dangerous if we leave now. Who knows what might befall us outside the city." Hamengku Suro answered.

This situation was just like a gamble for the Gen's group. Be it Hamengku Suro or even Gen himself is not entirely confident with whatever might happen. If it were only two of them, they could surely try to fight and escape if the situation escalates. However since there is the King and Sri Puspa with them, it becomes quite tricky conditions. The thought of both of them getting kidnapped again surely cast a shiver to them.

However, finally they decided to continue their trip to southern outer part of the city. In order to avoid unnecessary attention. They decided to move exactly where the Thaloss envisioned them to be. Unaware of the surprise that will befall them there.
