100% Let's Act Like Strangers Next Time We Meet / Chapter 2: Hang Out Sometime

Chapter 2: Hang Out Sometime

I can do this!

I will take revenge and I'll make him miserable like how I was.

"Hey, Aiden," I pushed through the people around him and went in front of him.

I twirl my hair and smiled seductively, men always fell for this.

They know I am flirting and they always flirt back.

He looks at me weirdly.

His brows raised then furrows.

Am I wrong?

"What are you doing? I was talking to them and you just pushed them, that's very disrespectful, Doctor Hailey."

That cold stare.

Why do I feel like this guy's judging me so much like he doesn't know me before?

He knows me.

He knows why I act like this.

I hate that stare.

It's so blank like I'm stuck on black space.

"Well..."

I have to gather my strength.

I can't shame myself.

"I was calling you earlier but seems like you can't hear me. I didn't mean to push them. I excused myself but no one hears me."

Nah, I didn't even say a word.

I really pushed them.

It's annoying to have people standing around him.

He's not like this.

"Well, Hailey really talks like she's whispering all the time before, we might not have heard her. We even step on her foot, it's our fault."

I got shocked by what they said.

I was like that before.

Very timid.

Very quiet.

But, gosh, I have a heart of stone.

You can't let people know that.

But when it's him, my heart of stone turns into gold, though it's still hard, I was doing good for him.

"Is that so, then, what do you want?"

Aiden still looks at me blankly.

What should I say?

I didn't anticipate my actions and I just acted on my own.

What should I say?

"I... uh."

Shaks! What should I say?

"Hey, you guys might've missed each other, we'll leave you then."

People started going away.

But, what do they mean we missed each other?

That is crazy!

I will never miss someone like him!

I look at him but he just watches people leave with a confused expression.

He's confused as well.

Huh, I don't know why those people thought like that.

"So, what is it?"

He turned to me while drinking his wine.

"I don't know. I just want to bother you, did you really miss me?"

I smiled at him.

He just stares at me and it's getting annoying.

"Yeah?"

What? Is that a question?

Is he trying to irritate me?

"Is that so~ I missed you too!"

I hugged him fast and I think he got shocked.

He looks at me with wide eyes.

Oh, that's a new expression for today's meeting.

"Oh, you didn't like that? You used to..."

He used to hug me all the time.

But he doesn't like it now?

Or it's because he's still awkward with me?

Then, good.

He should be.

"No, I mean... Anyway, we used to hang out all the time before, do.. uh, you want to hang out sometime?"

I just stand there looking at him while blinking fast.

What did he say?

Used to hang out all the time?

Is that how he viewed our relationship?

WE ONLY HANG OUT?

Gosh, I want to kill him now.

Good thing I don't have my scalpel with me.

"No..."

Ugh, I don't want to.

But I have a mission.

REVENGE.

"No, problem."

I smiled while he smiles at me slightly.

As if it's forced.

He's the one who put himself in his situation, why does it make me feel awkward?

"Then, can I get your number?"

Now that's fast.

I was the one who put my number in his phone before.

Did he date a lot which made him smooth like this?

"Okay!"

I took his phone and entered my number.

Oh, he still has my old number.

I changed it the day after we broke up.

Wait, what?

He's been calling me ever since that day?

What is this?

"Wow, you call my number a lot before?"

That slipped.

I was just curious.

It was supposed to be my inner voice not really say it.

"Uh..."

He bites his lip.

He's confused and embarrassed.

Oh, he never changed.

I thought he did.

"I wanted to get in touch with you..."

WHAT.

Is that a normal thing for an ex to say?

He brushes his hair and smirks.

"Never mind, thanks for the number. I'll hang out with the others."

He looks at me like...

What is that?

I never felt like that.

It's like he's curious.

Oh, he's curious with his ex.

I see.

He's talking with the others but I can catch him looking at me.

He either smiles or looks away.

I finished my drink and decided to go home since no one talks to me at all.

I take my purse and is about to leave when someone pulls me away from the door.

Oh, he can't resist me?

"Yes, Aid--"

WHO THE HECK IS THIS?

He's blonde.

Deep blue eyes.

Scar on the cheek...

"Hey, Leiam!"

I almost forgot about him.

I didn't notice he was here.

He smiles and let go of my hand.

"I didn't see you earlier, glad I caught you before you leave."

Yeah...

Leiam Brown, my classmate in Ethics and Math, he's the one who talks to me sometimes.

I mean, he usually engages conversations with me.

He's nice.

But we're not that close.

Though, except from Aiden, he's the only one who talks to me.

"Yeah, how are you?"

His freckles are still beautiful.

Yes, they are.

Those are the first thing I noticed when I first met him.

And, honestly, if I was not dating Aiden back then, I might be dating Leiam.

But since Aiden and I broke up, I distanced myself from him as well.

"I'm good, I'm a pathologist and uh, yeah, that's all."

He laughs.

His laugh makes me feel as if I am happy.

It's so soft and his voices bounces like it's excited.

"That's great! Hey, can we hang out sometimes? I have to go now, so... maybe next time."

I don't really feel good.

Maybe it's the wine.

Or the wind.

Or him.

Aiden's looking at me and Leiam.

But I just feel awful.

I want to go home.

"Oh, are you okay? Do you want me to drive you home?"

I remember that line.

He said that to me.

"Uh, yes, please."

But now, I am saying yes because I feel bad not because I want to flirt.

"Then, let's go."

He said goodbye and held me to his car.

My legs feels like my bone's aren't even there.

"I think you had to many drinks. The table you used were full of alcohol."

What?

Really?

I didn't think that I drink that much again.

I told myself that I will stop drinking.

But whenever I think of him, I can't help myself.

"Come on."

He helped me get inside the car and even put my seatbelts on.

"Oh, you're so sweet."

What am I saying?

I don't know.

My mouth just moves on its own.

My vision seems like my eyes are painting Picasso all over.

He laughs.

What is he laughing at?

He's fixing my clothes before locking the seatbelt.

"Why? Is my tummy that big, huh?"

I really can't understand what I am saying.

Gosh, I want to puke.

"You're drunk."

I watch his silhouette move and get in the car.

The engine turned on and everything moves around me.

"Why did you get drunk? I know you, you don't drink that much not unless you have a problem."

I move to be comfortable and I lean on the window.

"Because he's there, I want to kill him."

"Who?"

"Aiden. He acts like we're strangers, I said we act like strangers but it pisses me off."

"Something happened?"

"Yeah. A lot. But it's all in the past now."

"Then why are you pissed off?"

"Because I want him to feel miserable like how I felt before."

"I don't know what happened, but I think you should just let go."

I stopped talking.

I don't know why.

I don't even know what we are talking about.

I'm just babbling words.

But something hit me with whatever he said.

"Where's your house by the way?"

"Greek Street, block 6521."

"Okay, just rest."

Now that I think of it.

Why did am I with him?

He could be bad.

He might be planning something.

He might've changed and he's not nice anymore.

My phone rings and it's an unknown number.

I answered it maybe because I am drunk and I don't know what I am doing.

"Hewow?"

My tongue isn't cooperating now.

"Hey, are you okay? Where are you?"

Hm?

Who the heck is this?

"Yeah. I am gowd. I'm fine. I'm with... uh, blondie. How bout yow? Are you fine?"

What the hell.

What am I saying?

"Huh? Yeah, I'm good. Tell me when you get home."

"Yeah, will do. I wuv yuw! MWAH!"

I even kissed the phone before turning off the call.

"Who's that?"

I almost forgot that I am with Leiam.

"No one, no one, no one. Can get in the way of what I feel for you, you, you."

I started singing and even used my phone as a microphone.

Leiam just laughs until everything just went dark.

I am sleepy.

I slowly drifted to rest while Leiam carefully drives me home and Aiden is staring at his phone confused with those three words I let out earlier.
