Chapter 5: Chapter 5

As we exit the tunnel we hear a sound of rushing water. In front of us, there was a large wall of water.

"Hey, Haro I think we finally reached the end of the tunnel," Halo says. We pushed our way through the waterfall and see daylight. We waded our way through the pond and made it to land. As we settled on land we laid down our lanterns and began to remove the gifts from within them. The blacksmith, Hina gave Halo a sharpening stone to me she gifted a blacksmith's hammer and some metal. Which makes sense since Halo has always been a better sharpener than me, she also enjoys sewing and design clothing and I have always enjoyed smithing new weapons, metal accessories and metal armor. We went through many other gifts, most were new clothes and money.

We were almost through the pile when we finally got to the last four presents for each of us. They were from our grandparents and our parents. When I opened my dad's there was a large sum of money and what looked like an entry pass and an identification card. If I remember correctly you use it by passing manna through it and it will show your name, race, age, and your job. It seemed that everyone else has also gotten one so we put them down to the side for now and open my mother's gift inside there was a letter that seemed like a recommendation to a school in the human city and there was also a note in it, it read like this.

Dear Haro

My son, I know that we did not talk to you about this before you left but that is why I and your father have written this letter. The star seer has recently foretold some ill fortune coming soon so just in case of emergency your father and I have decided that you, your sister, Rin, and Len should begin making connections in the human city. We decided since the person that has been helping us runs a prominent school for upcoming mages and fighters. We think that it is best to send you to a human school. It should also help you become more accustomed to human society as well. We wish you luck and don't forget to have fun along the way.

Love

Your mother Sola and father Ailum

"... Okay then wow I really did not expect them to drop this on us last minute," I say surprised.

" yeah me neither," my sister says with an astonished look on her face

"Did your guy's parents also say that they are sending you to school?" I say to Rin and Len

"Yeah they sure did," Len says

"Well let's just hope that our grandparent's gifts are not as surprising" Halo says still shocked from the last gift.

We start to open our grandparents present I start with my grandfather's. In mine was a small little magical device. I put some mana into it and it turned on.

Words were on the screen that said," device starting up " next screen popped up "welcome to your personal navigation device. This device has been specifically made for the purpose of guiding you to your destination" after that it explained a bunch of other things but basically all I have to do is tell it something to find or a destination and it will on the screen lead me with a map directly to the object even if it is moving. I looked over at the others they all got the same thing as well.

I moved on to my grandmother's gift there was a small piece of paper that stated that the person who has this item owns a small shop that can also double as a house with the bottom floor being a store and the second floor being a living space, in the city that we were heading to.

"Finally done," Halo says as she sighs

"That was a lot of gifts to go through, "I say as I get up.

"Now let's get going before it gets too late it looks like it is almost lunch," Len says as he transforms and lands on my shoulder.

I pick up my identification card and infuse it with mana my information appears on it with my race being set as elf. I put into my bag and input the destination of the school into the device.

As begin to walk through the forest, it feels really eerie.

"Hey guys does something in this forest feel off to you," I say a little nervous

Suddenly a sharp scream comes from farther down the small path that we were on. We start running towards the source of the scream. As we arrive we see a giant bear about to attack a small human child.

" We should help her," my sister says to me

"Fine," I say a little annoyed

Len transforms into a sword and I grab him; my sister was already ahead of me she casts a light spell and blinds the bear, I come and aim for the large bear's neck and slash at it. My sister does the same except for at the legs of the bear. Both come cleanly of and land a distance from the rest of the body. My sister runs over to the child.
