Chapter 52: Chapter 52

As I entered the kitchen, I saw a large dining table, around which many people were sitting. I recognized quite a few of them. Weasley family, Mad-eye Moody, Severus Snape, Kingsley Shacklebolt, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Mundungus Fletcher, and Tonks, of course, were the ones I recognized. Dumbledore was also sitting on the head seat, presiding over the meeting.

As I entered, everyone's attention shifted to me and

"Aiden, my boy, thank you for joining us, please take a seat." Dumbledore said as he gestured me to sit.

As I did so, he announced, "Now, before we begin, let me into our newest member, Mr Aiden Canis. I am sure everyone has already heard about him."

But, before he can continue further, I interpreted, "I am afraid you have me at loss Headmaster. As I have already Tonks, I have yet to make any decision about joining this organisation (yeah, actually I have, not gonna join). I am here to listen and verify a few things about the organisation before I consider joining."

Some of them made sour faces at that. But Dumbledore took it in stride and said, "Hmm, seems like I was under the wrong impression. But, no matter. I am sure we can clear any doubts you have before you join."

Now, if I was a stupid person, who didn't consider things carefully before saying anything( *cough* Ronald Weasley *cough*), I would have directly rejected them and go my merry way. But, as that is not the case, I am going to let them down easily. As complimenting someone rarely goes wrong, I am going to first butter them up before refusing to join them, instead of an outright refusal.

"Yes, I have actually done my research and read about the order activities during the previous war. Got to say, Order did many admirable things and saved many lives during the last war. Not everyone can stand up against dark lords and fight for what's right. For that everyone here have my respect." Here I paused for dramatic effect.

Everyone looked pleased and sat a bit straighter as I said so, well almost everyone. Dumbledore, Moody and Snape were the ones who didn't show any outwards reaction and maintained stoic faces as they listened and I continued, "As I said, I admire the goals of this order. But, I am afraid, I do have some doubts."

" And what would they be, my boy. I assure you that everything that order does is for the greater good."

Woah, how the hell did he just say that with a straight face, in front of everyone at that? Greater good my ass, all this cult does is stalking Harry, and he can still bullshit about 'greater good'. In front of his shamelessness, even I feel like an amateur.

Say what you will about the old man, but he is a pro at the international language of bullshiting, that's for sure. Even I can't say the phrase "for greater good" with such confidence like I actually mean it. Hmm... I really should practice in front of a mirror so that I can too toss around 'greater good' as he does. The old man is a treasure trove of knowledge, I fully intend to learn as much I can from him, before he kicks the bucket in new two years, so that I too can bullshit with the best of them like him.

Despite my inner monologue, I still kept a stoic face and betrayed none of my emotions.

"Yes, I am sure order has the best of intentions and it works towards the greater good. But Order's goals are not the problem, it's the method employed to achieve said goals are what makes me hesitant to join."

"Methods you say? I am afraid, I don't quite understand what you mean, my boy."

"Actually, I have done my research about the order's fighting style, before I came here. I am actually quite dismayed that order members only use stunners and non-lethal spells in battles."

"Again, my boy, I don't get what's the problem? Bloodshed is never a good thing. Everyone must be given a second chance for them to see the error of their ways and rectify their mistakes. If we fight to kill, then we won't be any better than the ones who we fight against."

Even though Dumbledore looked wise and told me in a sagely voice, I only heard bullshit coming out of his mouth. It might have worked against his cult members and rest of the wizarding sheep, but no way I am getting swayed by his bullshit. Did he think that I don't know what a war is? You don't win a war of you keep giving second chances to your enemies. I mean, look at what happened after last war. Barely a small portion of Death Eaters paid for their crimes and a large portion of them got off the hook by bribing their way out of Wizangaomot, spewing nonsense like they were under an imperious curse. If they were taken care off appropriately after last war, Dark Lord V-man wouldn't have had his army of Death Eaters under him, as soon as he came back from "dead".

Not to mention, as Chief warlock, it was Dumbledore himself who let the Death Eaters bribing their way to freedom. If he had just done his job and put them on fair trial, there would not have had any war to fight this time around, just the Voldemort.
