Chapter 13: Behind the Thick Mist
Times like this are the most peaceful. In the middle of such a desperate situation where darkness filled the space, a place where the light shone only towards you is the greatest. Life is empty without adversities. This line appeared in the mind of the people who knew the real danger of staying there.
Lei Mu continuously seeped in cold air, unable to focus her heart and mind to proper herself. All her senses are unconsciously towards the godly figures with their seemingly casual exchanges.
"I long have heard about this Sacrifice but with all the happenings in the world before this, I really couldn't keep it as something I should keep my eyes on.", Emperor Wang Song's voice entered Lei Mu's ears as if it was an unnatural phenomenon.
Patriarch Lei was silent about this as he thought that Emperor Wang Song didn't reason out about the abrupt silence of the Eastern Continent after being toppled by the Demon Race.
Two years ago, demon fleets and demon cavalries were showing in the Eastern Continent, continuously expanding their territory as to no one know why, based on the intels or spy inside the Eastern Continent.
Demons are very unnegotiable and would never talk it out. They would only attack with brute force. However, they are not dumb, they only lack in scheming which is very ironic for a demon. They never disturbed any of the Thirteen Guardian's post. Even the Demon King already showed that he has no wishes to face any of the Powerhouses. The former Emperor of the Eastern Continent was the only exception as he does not emit such aura and for some reason, the Sages and Patriarchs of the Eastern Continent didn't support him.
Currently, this is the only moment where their minds would wander off since the Eastern Continent was so peaceful and every support that the other three Continents gave was going smoothly.
"But it's a good thing you lend us a hand.", Emperor Sheng Ju Long laughed while he caressed his hard and rough beard, "Grade 4 Beasts are nothing now!", he said sincerely.
The exchanges of these Powerhouses were honest and void of schemes. None have an ulterior motive behind their every action. Patriarch, the head of a whole major clan; Sage, has an experience of a thousand years while their wits are not inferior to anyone; Lastly, Ruler, literally a ruler over a whole continent. Who from these people sounds like who doesn't know how to scheme and gain benefits from every opportunity? Every one of them can trick the other but chose not and would never think of it.
The reason was simple. None of them were enemies and none will ever be! They are comrades that immutably stood at the peak of this world, staring down at mortals with the power to control everything at will!
The conversation up till now was normal and was only a form of a long greeting until Emperor Sheng Ju Long went back to a serious topic, "Patriarch Lei, I know that you plan to retreat for now. I don't blame you for that... but", his eyes narrowed, "We need your help as much you need us. We need to stick together."
It is not that hard to get the underlying meaning behind Emperor Sheng Ju Long words. Both Patriarch Lei and Patriarch Yun were slightly shocked.
After a moment of silence, Patriarch Lei replied, "I know that Grade 4 Beasts are nothing now but I greatly doubt there is no Grade 5 Beast ahead."
Unexpectedly, Emperor Sheng Ju Long only smiled at that, "That's better for us!"
Patriarch Lei furrowed his eyebrows, doubting Emperor Sheng Ju Long's mentality. What he replied was just carefree and nonsense.
Emperor Sheng Ju Long wasn't affected by Patriarch Lei's look of disdain as he expected it. Even if he heard this kind of reply from others, especially a Powerhouse like him, he would not only look at him in disdain but will immediately slap him in the face. Nobody was scared between the seven at the time, they only felt the excitement. There is no doubt that Emperor Wang Song came because of the same reason.
