Chapter 8: chapter 7
Without thinking I sprinted out from behind zack and consumed my brother in a hug. soon jasmine appeared by my side and joined the hug. after breaking apart the hug I started to wonder what he was doing down here. he was supposed to stay for another week. " what are you doing back so early " I inquired.
"what do you mean, are you not happy to see me" he furrowed his eyebrows.
"no, no it not like that. I mean how did it go was it bad that your back early" I rephrased.
"well, if you must know the Italian leader's wife was giving birth so we now have to go in two weeks to finish the business, and someone might attack us apparently " he informed. I was relieved nothing bad happened. Just then jasmine caught my eye. she was giving a weird look between me and zack.
"what going on here." Luke queried pointing at a shirtless zack.
" Oh, I was just about to go shower but the doorbell rang, and I didn't want Hailey to open it, so I came down and opened it. " he lied smoothly. How can someone be so smooth?
"I guess u were watching something you were not." zack immediately reddened up. "it's all good, as long as her virgin eyes stay that way" Zack looked at me and died from laughter. So, what if I'm a virgin. I would never trust anyone with that ever. There was one person, but he betrayed me as well. You get used to eventually.
"what's so funny zack" I questioned
"you seem so bad ass but you're still a virgin "
"so" I shook my head people judge to often.
"whatever," Luke said "so what have I missed since I left, did you get along with any guy you know, are you dating anyone cause I'm afraid I will have to put him down" zack's eyes widened at this.
"no, I'm single as a pringle "I said finding my shoes very interesting.
"okay" I could tell Luke didn't believe me a hundred percent. Luke hates any guy that checks me out. He has been keeping count of how many boys he has beaten for trying to get ins with me. we lost track at around 374 boys last year. This meant that me and zack had to date secretly. Zack clearly understood what he meant "zack have you seen her around with any guys "
"no, not one" he answered. How was he so good at lying? After this I walked zack out and he leaned in to kiss mem, but I put my hand on his chest and eyed Luke staring out the window at us. he understood, hugged me and then left. I walked in and fell asleep.
I woke up the next morning with Luke by my side. looks like he slept over again. "so, what do I owe this pleasure for" I mockingly asked
"just curious, you haven't seen any weird symbol around have you" he questioned. I jogged my memory and remembered the snake symbol. I knew there was more to than I thought
"I saw this snake symbol at a buskin robins' shop and the police station wall" I informed him.
"why where you at the police station "he stood up slightly concerned
"oh, me and zack got bored so went and spray painted it. I didn't get caught" I said as he was slightly relived. At that moment my phone decided to buzz. It was a message from zack
"why is he messaging you "Luke expressed as he got curious
"I don't know "I shrugged. It was a good morning text." he said good morning that's all"
"why is he messaging you good morning" josh inquired. I froze.
I said the first issue that came in mind which was "he my partner for a project and is probably going to ask about that"
"speaking of school do you still get beaten up" he asked slightly concerned
"no, I am normally the one roosting all my bullies" I laughed out as I placed my phone on my bedside after repaying good morning to zack.
"and who exactly are these bullies" he delved deeper in to the situation
"oh, just this wan be girl and her minions also some jock and bad boys "I listed as I fell back on to my bed with my arms spared wide, Luke seemed to like the idea and joined me. He fell on the bed with his arms by his side almost crushing me in the process. I rolled over to avoid becoming a pancake.
"did zack bully you" I seemed to hear hope in his voice.
"he didn't really bully me. But he was friend with all my bullies" I told him honestly, slightly embarrassed.
"that's why you froze when you first met him "Luke huffed out almost like a realisation.
"yeah "I giggled out. This was only a week ago. A week ago, I was the school nerd. The one everyone picked on. The one that was outcasted for all aspects. I had no friends. Now I'm the schools badass. The girl nobody wants to mess with. The girl who stood up for those who got picked on by her bullies. The whole school wanted to include her. This girl now had lines of people waiting to be her friend. My thought continued to go on about how one week could change so much.
"I still can't believe you didn't tell me what was going on. I mean getting beaten at school. That horrible. And I feel even worse for when you brushed of your wounds as marks from a fight. Why am I such a bad brother" he resolved as he rubbed his hands over his face.
Instantly pang of guilt hit my chest "no don't say that about yourself. Your one of the best brothers in the world. Your lot better than my other brother. I just didn't want anyone worrying about me, you know I've been though worse." I softly replied hoping to make him feel better.
"thanks" he whispered while he turned on his side and kissed my head. We laid they're in a peaceful silence both of us engulfed in our own thoughts.
That was until my phone decided to go off again. This time I just kept buzzing. We both stared at my phone as its spaze attack had not stopped yet. I shared a look with Luke before cautiously approaching the phone. I picked it up as it continued to buzz. First thing I did was to put in on silent. Me and Luke both sighed in relief. I scrolled through my notification they where all new followers on Instagram. It was my public account, so anyone could follow me. I turned my phone around to show Luke. We both busted in to a fit of laughter. He took my phone and scrolled through all the people that had started following me, some of them where from my school and some of them where complete strangers. Even anna and her minions had started following me. It wasn't like I had no followed, I had 1000+ follower from all my outside school friends. The few photos I had posted now had more than 3000 like. All of this had never mattered to me. And never will. As Luke was going through my followers a small notification from zack pooped up. I immediately yanked the phone out of Luke's hand. He gave me a suspicious look. I shrugged it off and turned my attention to my phone. Just as I was about to read the message the phone had been pulled out of my grip. I saw it in Luke's hand as he held it away from me. I lunge on top of him trying to reach the phone. He pushed me onto the floor. I took this opportunity and groaned. I rolled onto my left side and placed my hand on my wound acting as if he had hurt me. Within a second Luke was by my side and helped me up. He was so stupid to fall for my tricks. I instantly pounced on my phone and ran out of the room with Luke hot on my tail. We entered the kitchen where mom was looked at us like we were from the jungle. Somehow it ended with Luke in the pool and my half way down the pool slide. We both caught our breaths and went to change out of our clothes. I diced with Luke finally gone I could now read the messages.
