Chapter 34: CHAOS IN THE MO MANSION
As Yue Ling hesitated, her eyes met Mo Shira's, which had darkened to a charcoal-like intensity. He conveyed a silent message, urging her to tell the truth. He knew that if she admitted her feelings and their relationship, the issue would be resolved, despite his family's initial anger, especially from his brother Mo Jihnu.
However, the look on her face sparked a surge of frustration within him. She shook her head, refusing to acknowledge the truth, which hurt him deeply. He remained calm, trying to make her understand, but she wasn't listening.
As they communicated through their eyes, surrounded by their family, no one else grasped the tension between them. Mo Shira's efforts to reason with her fell on deaf ears, and she was about to accept Mo Jihnu's proposal when Mo Shira suddenly stood up with force, causing his chair to crash to the ground. The abrupt movement shocked everyone, including Yue Ling, and the room fell silent.
Mo Shira: "I can't take this anymore!"
Everyone: _stunned silence_
Mo Shira: "Haven't I told you, Mo Jihnu, to forget about marrying Yue Ling? It seems you've stopped listening to your elder brother."
Mo Jihnu: "Brother, please! I truly love her and can't live without her. I've never considered marrying anyone before because I hadn't found the right person. And now that I have, you're standing in our way."
Only Yue Ling and Mo Lin understood the underlying tension and where the conversation was headed.
Mo Shira: "You can't marry her because she's—"
Mo Jihnu's anger burst out, interrupting his brother before he could finish.
Mo Jihnu: "And why can't I marry her? Just because you don't like her doesn't mean no one else does!"
Mo Shira: "It's not that I don't like her, I actually do love her, but—"
Mo Jihnu: "But what? Why can't I marry her?"
Mo Shira: "Because she's my girlfriend, damn it!"
MO Jihnu:"... "
Grandpa Mo"... "
Mrs Mo:"... "
Mo Shira: "I've been trying to explain this to you, but you wouldn't listen. Yue Ling and I have been dating for nearly three months, and I've been waiting for the right moment to tell you all. I want to marry her."
Mo Lin: "Brother Shira, why are you trying to ruin Yue Ling's life? You're not serious about her, and you'll never commit. Let Mo Jihnu marry her; he genuinely loves her."
Mo Shira: "I do love her, I promise. I wanted to tell you all, but... "
Grandpa Mo: "What do you mean 'trying to tell us'? You've always been dumping girls left and right, using them for your pleasure. Now you want to use our innocent Yue Ling too? This won't happen."
Mo Shira: "Grandpa, please... "
Mo Lin: "Brother Shira, I know you're attracted to her, but it's only physical. You'll tire of her soon enough. Why ruin her life?"
Mrs. Mo: "Why choose Yue Ling, of all people, to ruin her life? What will her parents think? Will they be at peace seeing their daughter's life destroyed?" She burst into tears, and Mo Jihnu rushed to comfort her, glaring at Mo Shira as if he wanted to punch him.
Mo Shira: "Mother, I promise I'm not ruining anyone's life. I love her, and she agreed to date me. Ask her, Mother."
Mo Lin: "Even if she agreed, wasn't it because you coerced and forced her into it?"
Mo Shira: "Why are you talking like this, Lin Lin?"
Mo Lin: "Because I saw everything that happened that day.
Everyone"..."
Grandpa Mo: "What did you see, Lin Lin? Tell us."
Mo Lin: "I saw big brother asking Yue Ling to be his girlfriend in his office. She didn't accept at first, but he kissed her forcefully and threatened to take advantage of her in his office if she refuses to be his girlfriend , so Xiao Ling accepted his demand due to helplessness at that time. I couldn't continue watching so I just left, feeling guilty that my brother could do such a thing to Yue Ling.
I'm I lying big brother?"
Mo Shira was speechless, caught off guard by Mo Lin's revelation. He had indeed forced Yue Ling into dating him, driven by a desire to keep his first love by his side. But now, Yue Ling reciprocated his feelings, yet remained silent in the face of his family's accusations.
Grandpa Mo demanded, "Is she telling the truth?"
Mo Shira hesitated, "Yes, but..."
Grandpa Mo's expression turned stern, "I never thought you'd be so heartless, forcing someone into a relationship. How dare you!"
Mo Jihnu chimed in, "Unbelievable! You had so many women at your disposal, yet you chose to coerce her into dating you."
Mo Shira's family turned against him, their anger a first for him. He appealed to Yue Ling, hoping she'd defend him, but instead, she burst into tears and fled the mansion. Mo Jihnu pursued her, calling out for her to stop, but she ignored him, jumped into her car, and drove away.
Yue Ling was torn, unwilling to reject Mo Jihnu's proposal outright, yet fearful of Mo Shira's wrath if she accepted. She knew he'd come for her, and she needed time to think, as marriage was a decision that would impact her life forever.
Mo Jihnu stormed back into the mansion, his face red with anger. He glared at his brother, his words laced with venom. "You're a monster, Mo Shira! I can't believe you'd stoop so low!" He spun on his heel and marched to his room, slamming the door behind him.
Mo Lin followed, her eyes flashing with determination. She wasn't afraid of Mo Shira, knowing he'd never harm her. Grandpa Mo also departed, his face etched with disgust.
The tension was palpable as Mo Shira was left alone with his mother, Mrs. Mo. Her tears flowed like a river as she spoke, her voice trembling. "Shira, I thought I knew you. I thought you were kind and respectful, despite your cold exterior. But today, I'm left questioning everything. Did I fail as a mother?"
Mo Shira's anger simmered, but he tried to appease her. "Mom, please—"
But Mrs. Mo cut him off, her hand raised. "Don't touch me, Shira! I don't know what to do with you anymore." She rose from her seat, her eyes filled with a deep sadness. "I need time to think, to figure out how to fix this."
With that, she turned and walked away, leaving Mo Shira seething. He couldn't contain his anger anymore. He rushed to his car and sped off towards the mountains lake, the wheels screeching as he took the turns at high speed. The darkness of the night swallowed him whole, but his mind was ablaze with fury and desperation.
What will happen next? Will Mo Shira's anger lead him down a dangerous path? Will Yue Ling find the courage to face him and clear the air?....
