Chapter 13: Ch 13

Somewhere among the woods of the mountain, a man woke up with a puzzled expression. "Forest?"

He tried to recall what made him come into such place, but he could only remember that he was drinking with boss Li, and then there was a brilliant light.

"They're dead...someone attacked us."

Wolf felt regret and sorrow for their deaths, but at the same time, he was glad that he was able to survive.

He examined his body and found that there were signs of injuries, but they were healed now. Moreover, when he tried to move his hands, he was pleased to find that his physique actually improved.

"This power...not only that, my sight."

He could see motes of light in his surroundings, and some even rose from his body. When he tried to circulate his Qi, he was not met with the slightest resistance.

"T-this!"

When he realized the significance of this, he shuddered in excitement.

Suddenly, he heard a low growl and several wolves stepped out from the bushes, completely surrounding him. He was called Wolf, but he didn't have a pleasant relationship with the real thing and as such, he was terrified when he saw them.

But soon, he regained his calm as he thought of his newfound prowess. With a glint of his eyes, his body assumed a defensive stance. The response was instinctive and he himself was puzzled, because he did not know a martial arts like this.

Before he could think it further, the wolves lunged at him at the same time, brandishing their claws and fangs.

Under normal circumstances, Wolf may have been able to escape at the cost of several wounds, it might even result to his death. This time however, his vision and perception was unmatched. He saw the wolves moving in the air at a slow pace, and he also moved at a speed that was slightly quicker.

Their muscle movement was so clear that he could even predict their next movement.

Wolf unleashed various attacks he himself was ignorant of, and made simple yet efficient movements to avoid their counterattacks.

When it was his turn, each of his blows accurately hit the vitals and rendered the beasts dead or maimed.

Soon, all the wolves were lying around him, and he looked at his hand with disbelief.

"Am I possessed by something?"

After all, he just eliminated a pack of wolves, and they weren't just ordinary beasts, because their strength was akin to a cultivator at the early stage of Foundation. Similar to him.

To confirm that he wasn't dreaming, he struck the tree nearest to him, and his Qi even covered his fist to protect it from harm. His fist easily broke through the thick bark and pierced a hole on it until his hands could be seen from the other side.

He marveled at the ease of his control and the power he demonstrated. At this moment, he felt like heaven has smiled upon him. He even thought that perhaps he was stronger than his former boss now. He felt like no one could defeat him, none could threaten him. He has absolute control of his strength.

The feeling of being invincible overwhelmed his emotions and he couldn't help but laugh loud.

He raised his hands to the sky, as though wanting to grab it.

"I, Lang Lei, is the chosen one of the gods. Hahahahaha! With this power, I can do anything!"

His subconscious mind suddenly begun circulating his Qi in a particular way, and the strands of Qi condensed into his hand before turning into a golden spear. Wolf was awed before its horrible might and his tongue suddenly spoke two words.

"Judgement Spear..."

He threw the spear into the distance and it collided into a mountain peak, there was a flash of light, followed by an explosion.

He saw a large crater form on the site, and he concluded without a doubt that this wasn't a might wielded by a mere foundation stage.

"This is the power of gods!"

He felt liberated and everything seem to glow with radiance and positivity. His elation turned into laughter.

After some time, the man regained his bearings and immediately decided what to do. With this power, he plan to join an immortal sect. There's no doubt that he would soon become one of the famous person in the area.

He strode and searched for a temporary dwelling. A lot of things occurred so suddenly and he felt like he deserved a good rest, planning for the future could start after.

While moving, a small animal jumped out and blocked his path. The two of them stared at each other for a while.

Wolf stared at the hare and he felt a wave of familiarity with the animal.

The hare tilted its head in curiosity, it's golden eyes shone. The human before it was giving off a similar vibe.

For a moment, the two creatures stood still in silence.

Finally, Wolf spoke first, not really expecting the animal to understand.

"What the heck are you."

The hare merely twitched its ears in response. The light in its eyes intensified and suddenly, a golden spear condensed beside it, producing a horrifying aura.

"You are a chosen too?!"

Just a while ago, he was laughing and was feeling haughty for being the chosen one of the gods, and in just a mere moment, he had already encountered another one. Moreover, he couldn't accept that it was an animal. How could the gods be so casual?!

The spear shot forth but Wolf already knew its trajectory and did not panic. He knew that the hare meant no harm.

He guessed correctly, as the golden spear flashed on his side and exploded on the cliff behind him.

After witnessing this, any doubts on Wolf's mind was gone. The hare hopped forward, stared at him, then turned its back and begun walking towards a particular direction.

Wolf stood still, but the hare turned back and glared at him.

"You want me to follow you?"

To his surprise, the hare nodded its head. Wolf really felt like he was dreaming right now. 'Did it just nod at me?!'

Wolf sighed and decided to follow the hare. Everything that happened to him was a mystery, perhaps this hare knew something. He could even make it his assistant. He thought of the scene where both of them were throwing judgement spears at the enemies whilst rendering them hopeless, made his blood boil.

The two of them travelled very far, deeper into the forest where the high leveled beast become more and more common. Wolf was also becoming nervous.

It was fortunate that the rabbit also knew how to fight effectively, much to his astonishment. Once, they were ambushed by a peak-level Foundation Stage jaguar. Before he knew it, the hare disappeared and made a short work of the assailant.

The pitiful jaguar did not even manage to land to the ground and it was pummeled 10 times midair. When it landed, it was already a carcass.

The hare ignored it and continued forward. Wolf suddenly found the hare to be really scary.

'Looks could be deceiving. It seemed cute and innocent at first but it's attacks were fast and precise, all of them with the intent to destroy the target's vital parts. Even if the target miraculously survive its onslaught, it wouldn't be able to resist the next.'

Possessing the God's Eyes, Wolf clearly observed the whole process and even learned something from it.

'It's a shame that it doesn't have martial skills to strengthen its attacks, otherwise, it would only take 1 strike to finish that thing off.'

The hare did not know what its human companion was thinking. They went further and further into the mountains, they used their observation skills to avoid strong enemies while hunting the weaker ones for food.

The beasts the Wolf saw seemed strange, they were more fierce than their counterparts. He also noted their seemingly uniformed appearance. Their skin's had a hint of purple and black, regardless of the race; be it a bear or a boar or a snake.

More than once Wolf had thought of returning, but he had already gone too far so he might as well try to see what the hare wanted him to see.

At last, after 3 days of journey, the hare finally stopped in front of a cave. Numerous beasts were coming out of the cave in batches, all with purplish skin and sinister eyes. They were larger than normal and some of their bodily features have also mutated.

The two hid behind a cluster of rocks and observed carefully. Wolf felt a shudder over his skin as he gasp in fright.

"What the heck is this?!" He said in a low voice. The hare gave him a reproachful look, as though it was telling him to shut his mouth.

Night came and there were no more beast coming out of the cave. The hare jumped out from the hiding place and entered the cave while motioning for Wolf to follow.

Although slightly scared, his curiosity eventually won over him and he accompanied the hare inside.

There were luminous crystals attached to the walls giving off a faint purple glow. When they reached the end of the chamber, they saw a pitch black orb hovering in the center of a complex array with multiple patterns and variations. The orb suck the light around it and distorted the space in the chamber.

"This thing could produced monsters?"

Even while puzzled, he had already started to condense a judgement spear. He has resolved to destroy the structure completely, but the hare gently bit his calf while glaring at him.

It's eyes seem to say, 'Dumb human, can't you see those suspicious lines?!'

The hare gently tugged his foot and urged him to withdraw. Wolf really wanted to destroy the mysterious structure, the sense of danger he felt from it was immense. However, it was indeed wiser to withdraw. He hated to admit it but the hare was probably smarter than him...probably.

"So you want me to report it to the humans huh?" Wolf definitely remembered the path.

However, the hare has much more to show him. They found more of such structures scattered across the mountain ranges. Their locations were varied, from cave to underwater. Wolf initially thought that their purpose was to strengthen and mutate the wild beats in the area, however, when he told his view to the hare, it looked at him with disdain.

It drew dots on the ground and connected them with with a line, forming a complex and artistic symbol.

Wolf come to realization and was shocked at this discovery. "Don't tell me...those things are transmission points for a gigantic array?"

Wolf was sure that whoever initiated such conspiracy was not someone he could mess with. He had the power of gods now, but he was just a Foundation Stage expert.

Wolf felt like he had just stepped on some shit. "Alright, enough, time to go home and rest."

Just as they were about to walk away, they heard a raspy voice from behind.

"Looks like some capable insect have slipped through my surveillance."

Wolf turned and saw a monstrosity glaring back at him. It's figure was full of sharp spikes, and eyes grew all over its body. It stood on its two feet with the length of two adult man.

There was a faint odor in the air, and it was unbearable, the duo even felt some sting on their eyes.

"Human, you have to die here." The monster screeched, they were soon drowned with a fierce killing intent that caused light to distort.

"Now what?" Wolf fearfully turned to the hare.

The hare looked back at him with an innocent eyes, it proceed to nibble on grasses, acting like a normal hare.

Wolf was rendered speechless.

After a while, he resolved himself to fight the monster. "Damn, so be it. I'll crush you with my divine powers!"
