Chapter 34: Sacrificing a Village For a Speck of Hope

The fight ends up with Mu Qing Lang is separated from the siblings. When one of the orcs knocked the chest off from the table, a right palm belonged to an orc came into everyone's sight.

This content shocked Tiezu-Wu and Tiezu-Gu the most.

Did they carry their brother's right palm all the way until here? Without knowing what is inside? Did they not question the fact why Tiezu-Yu bid farewell to them with his left hand raised?

They are indeed foolish! How stupid should they be to understands what their brother has done for them? For the sake of continuing the legacy of their Iron Skin Boar Tribe, Tiezu-Yu sacrificed himself to hold the enemies in the frontline, while fighting for the hope to successfully carried the legacy away.

Unfortunately, the legacy bearer is not others, but these two fools!

"Chief Mu. Does this means... Tiezu-Orc Village is no more?" Tiezu-Wu already guessed about what will happen to their village but found it hard to accept the truth. To made his wishful dream shattered, he asked the person that his eldest brother assigned to tell him the truth.

"No," Mu Qing Lang answered straightforwardly.

"No?" the orcs stares at Mu Qing Lang.

"Aren't you the orcs from the Iron Skin Boar Tribe? If you still exist, then the Tiezu-Orc Village exists. If there's no more Iron Skin Boars and the Tiezu-Orcs, then you cease to exist."

"Is this very difficult to understand?" Mu Qing Lang's word hit them in their weakest, most fragile spot. But that word wasn't full of despise, but motivation.

"Yes... We're the Tiezu-Orcs! Wherever we go, we can rebuild our tribe once more!" Tiezu-Wu stands up and shouts his motivation again. This is the proof he's grown.

"Correct! If they destroy us once, we rebuild once! If they do it ten times, we redo it ten... Ouch!" Mu Qing Lang can't continue listening to this Tiezu-Gu's word. He'll have to put more effort into training this orc.

This means the recently updated number of 81 residents now has to be adjusted again. Along with 150 orcs excluding their chiefs, their newest headcount is now 131 residents.

Without forgetting about what the youngsters said, Mu Qing Lang allocated the orcs to rebuild their own village once again at the short-grass area two fields away from their current spot. The first reason is due to the orc's specialty, which is herding animals, and the second, they're useless in farming.

With that said, Mu Qing Lang assigned the orcs to handle the breeding project instead, and leave the farming project to his side. The harvest for their Xian-Ren Grass reaches 6,000 stalks daily, with the Amber Root and Juniper Fruit continued at 1,000 units daily.

As for the Prairie Rock Sage, Mu Qing Lang replants the two seeds it made and collected twelve sage leaves from the plant. Lastly, the Prairie Sugar Root is planted at the northern site, with 100 cuts of rhizomes first. Their great harvest can be expected almost instantly after 24 hours.

Next of the list is the Chang Empress Poppy. Other than harvesting their fruits and collecting the seeds together, Mu Qing Lang ordered them to expand the plantation to three fields. This expansion is done to increases the amount of Medicinal Opium Latex through every harvest.

After the dinner with the group, some self-introduction, and arranging a companion system between the existing member with the new residents, Mu Qing Lang returned to the carriage half an hour before midnight.

Putting aside the equipment at a corner in the carriage, Mu Qing Lang sat on the chair before the Information Table and awaited for the scanning results. A moment later, an option pops up.

[*Prairie Rock Sage*]

"I'll check this out before going to bed." Mu Qing Lang tapped the option, hoping the information about this product is a short one.

"Prairie Herbal Solution? What can this product do?" the item description managed to caught his attention, but when he thought about his lack of Prairie Sugar Root, it destroyed his urge immediately.

"Aargh! I don't have the Prairie Sugar Root with me! Two days! I'll wait for two days and concoct this product!" Mu Qing Lang suppresses his urge to concoct the new material and proceed to his bed.

As usual, he pops the two pills and falls into slumber almost immediately.

...

Day twenty-seventh.

Due to the collected fatigue yesterday, Mu Qing Lang wakes up from his rest a little late. It was almost afternoon when he awake, and he already missed the time for a proper breakfast.

Knowing that he will have nothing much to do except taking a walk around his settlement, Mu Qing Lang decides to fulfill his promises first. In this fight against the Ashen Wolves, both settlement members and orcs contributed.

But amongst everyone, there are a few excellent contributors that cannot be ignored. One of the examples would be Guan Yi, Han Yu, Qing Yi, Yulin, and Ka-Ba. The five of them can be said to be the cream of crops of the group and performed the best.

To reward each of them, Mu Qing Lang crafted a set of the Ashen Full Armor for Guan Yi, an additional gauntlet and clock for Han Xi, a cloak for Han Yu, and for Ka-Ba and Yulin, both received only a pair of Ashen War Gauntlets.

The material wasn't enough at first, but their fight last night yield Mu Qing Lang another 300 units of both pelts and scraps, alongside with 30.5gm of bloodstones. It was a significant increase in useful material after the fight, which allowed Mu Qing Lang to arm a few of them properly.

Without anything special to do for the day, Mu Qing Lang continued with what he was used to doing as usual and also paying the new Tiezu-Orc Village a visit.

With 500 Iron Skin Boars is brought to start living in this location, they need to solve the issue with food fast. Although there was no issue with the grasses available for them to graze, their diet is somewhat stopping them from eating recklessly.

When this issue is brought into the discussion between the two chiefs and Mu Qing Lang, he suggested that the feed should come from the Mu's Settlement side. Albeit limited in varieties, what Mu's Settlement have for now is unexploited manpower.

Making sure about what to be used as the feed, the trio decided with a final conclusion. Instead of deciding on one kind of diet for the Iron Skin Boar, they will feed them similar to what was served to the Settlement-Village except for meat.

Such was Mu Qing Lang's idea. Because there's no longer the requirement to supply the destroyed Tiezu-Orc Village anymore, the expansion on their farm should not be reduced but maintains until a new trader arrived.

Once he has done with these menial tasks about the resident's wellbeing and promises, Mu Qing Lang returned to his usual spot again, putting more time in "researching" the few products available in his production list now.

...

...

Meanwhile, at a location northeast from where Mu's Settlement is built.

The warriors from Namu Settlement slaughtered the Ashen Wolves without mercy. Be it young cubs or old gray wolves, none was left alive. Worst, they did not bother to harvest the material to be used, but instead, they chose to hang the dead wolves all around the den to showcase their brutality.

It smells like a trap, but that was not the case for the returning Ashen Wolves. The hint of blood in the air caused them to quicken their footsteps back to their dens. Unfortunately, their return was unable to do anything for the dead corpses hung throughout their caves.

"AOU!" the sight devastated them. With more and more Ashen Wolves returned, the worst all of them felt.

But unfortunately, the "hunter" was not prepared to let them mourn. Torches with flame are dropped to ignites the straws around the den's entrance, and with the fire burning strong, smokes started to grow. It only took them a short blink of time to start filling the caves with deadly fumes.

This was one of the greatest slaughter in the history of Chang Emperor Prairie, with more than one thousand and two hundred Ashen Wolves fall in their own haven. Furthermore, four Prairie Black Wolves is within the list of casualties.
