Chapter 19: FLASHBACK - Dazed
Kate was now sitting on her sofa in her bath robe, staring at her TV. Suddenly she got a call which woke her up from the daze. It was Ashton. She picked up and call and put her phone near her ear. Ashton's voice was terrified as well as if he had seen a ghost as well.
"Kate, Kate did you see the news?? What is happening?! Kate are you there? Susie... Susie committed suicide. Kate what the fuck is happening? Tell me I'm not dreaming! Kate! Say something!!"
"Ashton. Susie is dead. She committed suicide."
Kate said this much and started crying out loud. Fortunately her mother was sleeping upstairs.
"Kate meet me right now. We need to talk about this. Her mother thinks that someone had manipulated her when she went out. You know she was with us. This can create problems for us. We need to talk Kate!"
"Hmm.."
"I'll pick you up. Come down in 15 minutes"
"Hmm..."
Kate didn't even have the energy to say full words. She got and and just put on a t-shirt and a jeans. She left her hair uncombed. Her eyes were red and her nose had a tinge of red. The beautiful angel like girl looked like a person who had just lost everything and was all alone. One look at her and the people around her could get sad. She wore her slippers and started walking down.
She saw Ashton waiting for her in his car. When Ashton saw Kate he couldn't recognise her at first. Her hair was disheveled, she was wearing a weird t-shirt of neon green colour and a jeans which was light green in colour with neon pink slippers. Her clothes were so mismatched and so ugly that one could definitely puke. Ashton put the thought behind his head and opened his car door from inside asking Kate to sit. She sat like a little child who was just scolded. She didn't even close the car door. Ashton had to reach to the other side and close the door and then buckle her up. He drove straight to a park which was at the corner of the city. It took them around 20 minutes to reach there and none of them said anything during this time. It was an eerie silence. Ashton then parked his car and unbuckled Kate's seat belt and then held her hand to help her up. He could see that Kate was in a trauma. And why wouldn't she be? Her best friend had committed suicide. Even though all the things that had happened, she never wanted Susie to leave her. Ever! If she had known that Susie would kill herself she would have broken up with Ashton. But now it was too late. And the harm couldn't be reversed. Apart from not being able to see her best friend ever again, she was now also one of the suspects for her suicide. What happened? Where had she gone wrong?
