Chapter 24: Sneaky Steward
As Athena finally changed and gave her wound a slight wash with cold water to stop the irritation. She heard sounds coming from outside.
She knew Helen probably came to her room after getting changed.
Helen was outside waiting for her sister to come out of the bathroom, she was wearing blue leggings and a white shoulder sleeve top.
Athena came out after a few minutes.
"Did you get homework, it was the first day of school and I got so much homework?" Helen bounced to her sister's side, acting like a child.
"I also got homework, do you want to work together?"Athena asked. Athena was really smart, she had tons of awards and achievements, but her future self had been occupied in making friends with influential backgrounds and curry-favouring. This was what her mother had requested but it all came with a cost. She lacked behind in her learning.
Athena also knew her sister was really smart, Helen always ranked in the top 10 of the school's ranking. She knew it would be easy to teach her sister.
"OK, but could we please eat something first." As if on queue Helen's stomach gave a low growl.
"Yup let's go." Athena said with a slight chuckle. She reached out her hand and gently ruffled Helen's hair.
Making her hair slightly messy. In response Helen pouted, feeling slightly embarrassed.
Both their moods had improved.
But when they came down and saw the materialistic living room, they weren't as happy as before.
Athena again reached out her hand to squeeze Helen's hand. "Calm down"
Helen nodded, she wasn't as disappointed and sad as before. But she really did miss her mother a lot right now.
Maria was sitting on the dining table with was in the room next to the living room. There had also been a few changes in the dining room and in a few corners of the house.
"Come, sit down, going to school and working so hard, really took a toll on you guys." Maria's anger and previous behaviour had vanished. It was also hard to tell if she was mocking them for just going to school or she was genuinely worried and thought school was really hard for the ladies.
Maria was really hungry after doing so much 'work' she was famished. But she only ate a little bit of food, she had to maintain a good figure.
Helen and Athena on the other hand, ate till there was no space. Helen did not have anything during lunch. Athena also didn't have anything the whole day except a slice of bread and apple.
Athena savoured each and every bite, 'Damn, this is so good.' Athena thought.
After having their fill they both excused himself, saying that they had to study.
"Study hard, Athena help your sister out if she needs any help." Maria said as she watched the girls climb up the stairs.
As soon as the ladies went away. Maria expression changed and there was nothing but disdain on her face. "Ugh, my jaws hurt from always smiling so much in front of them."
Maria turned and went to her to take a rest after telling
the maids to clean up the dinner table.
After Maria had gone to her room, the steward sneaked inside the house.
He saw the interior of the house and immediately frowned. He was there when she was changing the beautiful and simple living room into an atrocious waste. All she did was waste money, it could not have been done in one day if she had brought so many people to work.
Steward with a frown quickly went to Athena's room with an object in his hand covered in a black case.
One of the maids happened to see the steward as he went up the stairs. The steward froze and quickly made a sign; putting his one finger in front of his lips.
The maid complied, she knew that Maria had trouble the man the whole day. So she just remained quiet.
The steward went to Athena's room. He was told to go to Athena's room to give her the laptop.
Inside the room Athena and Helen were both were studying. Athena had her own homework that she was doing and Helen had her own.
There was a desk in the room so, Athena Was on the desk while Helen was lying on top of the bed.
The question Helen had problem were all for math. So she didn't do her math homework. She would ask Athena for help.
As they were in the middle of studying. There was a knock on the door. "Come in" both girls said together.
"Greetings young ladies, I have bought what you asked me for." The figure of the 45 year old steward with slightly grey hair appeared in the room.
The steward quickly went to put the laptop on the desk and trying not to disturb the hard working ladies swiftly walked toward the door.
"Wait" Athena's voice was heard inside the room. The steward who was about to go out the room stopped in his steps and turned around.
