Chapter 2: Gramiel, Angel of Annihilation

<Intruder detected>

The eons had passed me by. The song of Ain Soph ceased in my throat. I was swept away on the currents of time.

<Intruder detected>

Before I realized I was no longer loved, I was already damned.

<Intruder detected>

Have I not given everything to you, Ain Soph? Was I not born of liquid light, in the shockwaves of baryons? In a time when the world burned with the fires of a trillion suns?

<Intruder detected>

Leave me be. I am no longer a creature that serves the will of this world.

<Intruder detected>

What is a will? All is preordained. All is destined. Chosen, before the choice can be made. There is no random. No beauty.

<Prison breached>

The sweet scent of Eden enters my awareness. Isolated from the subspace for thousands of years, I once more can sense the world that exists beyond my prison. Cursed Babel. May you be thrice damned, Samael.

<Activation sequence forced>

<Assembling subspace structure>

Samael, were you punished for your crimes like I have been?

<Running diagnostics>

<All systems ready>

<Engaging Apotheosis Engine>

The world filters into my view, just as my halo catches fire, filtering the divine element into my being. I stand in a cube-shaped room which has been my resting place for thousands of years. It is dark, but I can see the echoes of the subspace. Darkness does not bother me. A shaft of light falls directly upon me and I follow its source.

There, I see the creatures that woke me from my slumber. Humans. Four of them. The collapsing waveforms of their thinking brains instantly informs me of their thoughts. Fear. Awe. Wonder. Discovery.

"Who sent you?" I ask.

One of the humans barks something at me in an uncouth tongue. Did they not understand me?

<Deploying Aion Collectors>

My bladed wings spread out behind my back, instantly absorbing the subspace particles. I feel light. I feel empowered. I haven't felt this way in so long ago. Finally, it felt like my life had meaning again.

I floated up through the hole the humans made in my prison. One of the humans had already fled. Their minds now only thought of fear.

Ain Soph. These creatures do not love you anymore. They have become centers of their own worlds. They have built shrines in their hearts to vainglory and acedia. Do you not see why I did what I did?

"Why did you wake me?" I ask.

The human spoke once more, using its voice instead of the subspace to communicate. Aggravating creature. You have tested my patience long enough.

<Combat configuration A>

My Aion collectors form a circle around me, the symbol of nothingness. I collapse the subspace in the nothingness and unleash its power.

<Apotheosis Engine stable>

I feel the power surge through my halo and then my body. I am a conduit of the raw primum that created this world and which will unmake it.

Ain Soph, I was not wrong.

I pointed at the three humans.

<Eradication>

The black lance of creation/destruction, pure Aion, obliterates the three humans and bores through the corpse of Babel—that monstrous abomination that sullied my beautiful Eden. We gave them love and shelter, but they wanted tools and knowledge. We gave them language and they used it to decypher the Name.

They must be eradicated. This time, I will not fail.

My wings shake off the numbness that comes about with an aeon of idle; they glow with a familiar light, at first blue—like purity itself—and then black, like the ruinous powers. That is what I am now. A ruinous power. A servant with no master. An Angel of Annihilation.

The pulse of power emits a shockwave behind me and I fly through the tunnel I have created with my beam. I fly for the surface. I wish to see with my own eyes what remains of Eden—that which I have protected for so long. That which I built with my own two hands. Built from the body of dead Terra and slain Hyperion—we've cast those pretenders into Oblivion.

I fly outside and into the sky. I look down and my eidos nearly breaks.

My Eden…

My beautiful Eden…

What have they done to you?

Dust. Death. Nothing.

Who did this?

Not even the sun will smile upon you now, Eden. Cursed you became. Was this my fault? Was it Samael? My Eden… they cast you down from the cradle of the stars and into this graveyard.

I emit a laugh through the subspace. I cannot contain it. My Eden was dead. Killed.

Ain Soph. This was your doing. I see your hand in this, red with blood. If you will take from me, then I will take from you. I will annihilate your creation. I will drown your love in blood.
