When Killua first came to, he'd only been able to register the memories leading up to his blackout. Now that he was fully awake, he began piecing everything together. As he looked around he noticed that everything was strikingly clear and crisp. He looked up to Gon. *He must have been worried* His friend's eyes were barely blinking as if they were afraid that'd he disappear if closed them for too long. Gon began explaining what had happened and Killua turned to question Eva, "You have some explaining to do." *But we need to move first. The sirens-*
Eva had been wrapping her finger when the first wave of dizziness hit. She paused as she waited for it to pass. She was aware that Killua was saying something but she couldn't quite process it fast enough before her legs gave way.
Killua cut off mid-thought when he realized that Eva wasn't looking at them. Then he felt her nen contract violently as she fell to the planks. Her rosy lips pale. He was up in an instant, reaching for her arm, but he jerked back when he realized it was the one with the bracelet. She hit the ground hard, sprawled on one side. *Stupid, it won't kill you.* He could see the nen bullet shot on her shoulder now, *I must have been a little to slow, but that shouldn't be serious enough to do this,* He looked at her bracelet *A repercussion?* He scooped her up in his arms, her face resting against his chest.
Gon's face was grim. Whatever relief he felt was gone. "That bracelet really shook you." Killua was loathed to admit but Gon was right. "Well, it's just temporary. She'll have it off soon." Gon looked at Killua. He was unable to tell if his friend realized what he was saying. *Maybe this is what Killua needs.* He secretly hoped Eva could help Killua get over Alluka. He certainly didn't mind having such a cute sister along for the ride.
Killua looked towards the sirens, his white hair swaying softly. *She is only temporary, but for now, she's with us. So I'll keep her safe for a bit more.* He could he feel Gon waiting for him. *Time to ditch these annoying sirens.*
"Let's go Gon."
Together they jumped off the airship. Killua held Eva close to keep the landing from jarring her. She shifted against the tight space. *She's not fully out. Then it's probably not serious.* He looked to Gon.
"Let's head to the room I booked." Gon nodded. They ran towards the boundaries of the airport premises. Several employees were shouting at them, but they couldn't do anything to Killua even without his God's Speed. Together, he and Gon burst past the last of the security and came out onto the highway. They ran alongside it towards the distant buildings outlined on the horizon.
"Killua, shouldn't take her to an ambulance? Or a hospital?"
Killua pondered the questions. "Probably...but an ambulance would have linked us to the airship. We don't have time to help out with that investigation. We can't take her to the hospital either now that we've been seen with her by the Ravens."
"Ohhh."
The highway split in two up ahead. They took the exit into town and made for their apartment. They slowed as they got closer to it. *We can't draw attention,* Killua thought. He felt Eva stir again in his arms. He looked down at her. Her skin was several shades paler than she normally was but her breathing was steady. *Did she use nen after all?* He'd been careful to cover her bracelet with a piece of his ripped shirt before picking her up.
They made it the building complex. This time they were on the fifth floor, the only way up was the stairs. Gon went on ahead of Killua. The way in was a passcode that had been sent in an email.
"6-2-9-2-3-1-7" Gon said.
"Baka, don't say it out loud." Gon winked at him. Killua relaxed, *Tricking the trickster heh?* He had to admit though, giving out a false code was a smart move.
Gon opened the door.
The room was laid out like a standard apartment. The kitchenette was on the left of the entry, the living room in the middle and the three bedrooms on the right. Gon threw down their bags on the couch as Killua took Eva into one of the bedrooms, laying her down gently.
Gon entered behind him, "Maybe we should call Leorio?"
"He won't be down here quick enough if it is something serious," replied Killua. "We need to take care of her shoulder first. We can call him after if she doesn't wake up." He left the room to rummage through his luggage, pulling out a roll of bandages and an anti-infection wipe just in case. As he re-entered the room he started to hand them to Gon, but thought better of it and sat down next to Eva.
*Geez,* Thought Gon, *I'm not any worse than you.* Shrugging, he left to put his own baggage in his room while Killua disinfected and wrapped Eva's wound. It was only minor, having just caught the very top. *Her new shirt is ruined though.* He made a mental note to pick up a few for her. Carefully, he wrapped her shoulder, averting his eyes from farther down. She turned over as he was packing up the stuff, *She'll be awake soon.* He pulled up a chair beside her and waited. A grandfather clock counting the minutes.
