Chapter 18: Bullied
Walking through the school, Guo Liang's eyes scanned his surroundings, taking in the interesting sculptures and design.
Noticing that Guo Liang was lagging behind, Qian Yih paused, deciding to give him a little history lesson.
" You see that building? In there, there's a marble statue. It's the school's oldest piece of art. It was created in 1889. Really awesome, right? Legends say that if you touch it before any examinations, you'll pass with flying colours!"
Guo Liang's jaw dropped, " That's so cool! Does it actually work?
Hearing Guo Liang's childish way of talking, Qian Yih smiled, he never talked like that when he was older. As Guo Liang grew up, it seemed like he realised that being good and kind was pointless. It wouldn't get him anywhere in life, in fact, it subjected him to more bullying and pain in school. In her previous life, Guo Liang talked about a bully called Pi Zhu and how he would torture him.
" That's a gym! Wow!" Guo Liang exclaimed, his attention quickly captured by another thing.
Silently, Qian Yih walked alongside him. She wondered if Guo Liang would turn out the same douche that he became in the future. Sighing softly, Qian Yih looked forward, there was so much she was going change in this life. Yet, there was no guarantee that things wouldn't become the same as her previous one.
" Can I ask you something?" Guo Liang asked as they reached the toilet.
Seeing her nod her head, Guo Liang hesitated before continuing in a small voice, " Have you ever been... bullied?"
" No." Qian Yih quietly shot back. After her previous life where everyone stabbed her in the back, she learnt that showing and admitting weakness would be fatal.
Guo Liang's originally bright face had dimmed down. "Of course. She's the popular girl, who would even dare bully her. Look at me, poor thing." Guo Liang smiled bitterly to himself.
Qian Yih looked into his eyes, seeing the self-pity that filled him. Trying to brighten the mood, Qian Yih ruffled his hair playfully.
" Look, if you need any help, I'm here." Qian Yih decided that the first step in making Guo Liang a better person was to provide him with emotional support.
Guo Liang immediately looked up in excitement, grinning exceptionally wide. Before he could thank her, Qian Yih smiled and added on, " You don't need to worry about Pi Zhu, just study well!"
If he could beam any bigger, Guo Liang would have made his whole face numb. He was ecstatic! No more bullies! That also meant no more toilet " treats"! Yes!
