Chapter 16: I Hate Your Hair
" Ms Jin Lian, what do you think is missing from your attire today?" A sharp, cold voice shook Jin Lian awake.
Jin Lian scrambled to adjust her school uniform as she stood up.
" Class! Turn to page 44 of your student handbook, what does it say, Ms Jin Lian, " Ms Yu questioned, a spiteful gleam in her eyes.
Jin Lian quickly flipped through her handbook, wondering why this teacher was so strict. As she read through the page, she gulped. Wasn't Ms Yu being too stiff?
" Ms Jin Lian?" Ms Yu pressured.
" All female students are to tie up their hair if it reaches the collar of the school uniform..."
Ms Yu nodded, a malicious grin appearing on her face. Reaching over to her desk, she pulled out a thick stack of forms, all coloured a bright and poisonous green. Gesturing to Jin Lian to come forward, she carefully set down a piece of paper from the stack, scribbling words in big bold letters on it.
Jin Lian timidly tip-toed over, fidgeting constantly with her pen.
" Take this down the hall to the General Office," Waving Jin Lian off, Ms Yu gently kept her infamous green forms back into the drawer.
As Jin Lian made her way to the door, some snickered, laughing at her stupidity. Although this was one of the worst classes in A High School, they were still the best among other schools, their worst class could even be compared to the best classes in other schools!
Jin Lian lowered her head, it was only the first day, and others were making fun of her. Clenching her fists, Jin Lian silently blamed Qian Yih for not reminding her to tie up her hair.
At the corner of the class, a skinny boy leaned forward, looking closely at Jin Lian as she walked past. A sly grin stretched across his small face.
Cracking his knuckles, he scribbled something down onto his notebook.
" Hey! Pay attention, young man, " Ms Yu interrupted his thoughts, " you weren't here last semester, what's your name?"
Closing his eyes to spite Ms Yu, the boy yawned and stretched lazily, with a hint of sarcasm, " Guo Liang, Ms Yu. Nice to meet you, "
" Sit up straight! Guo Liang, do you think this is an easy class? You better pay attention!" Ms Yu continued unfazed.
Guo Liang's thin brows furrowed together. Wasn't she even the least bit intimidated by him? He quickly took out his textbooks, sulking quietly in a corner.
" Liang, what were you writing? Do you have a crush on the new girl? Are you so old-fashioned, writing it in a diary?" A stout girl annoyingly questioned Guo Liang.
Guo Liang blushed, taking out the notebook to show her. Squealing in excitement, she quickly clamped a hand over her mouth.
" You do like her! Ahhhh, "
Guo Liang pressed his finger to his lips, gesturing her to keep quiet. Giggling happily to himself, Guo Liang doodled heart shapes in his notebook.
Wow! The new girl is so pretty! Wait, what's her name again? Right, Jin Lian...
Guo Liang's mind started to wander with the thought of Jin Lian.
" Guo Liang!" Exasperated by this incorrigible boy, Ms Yu called out his name again.
Having just came back from the General Office, Jin Lian noticed the small boy sitting at the back of the class. Seeing as he was so skinny, Jin Lian scrunched up her nose in disgust.
A guy should at least have a bit of meat on him, or else he would look like a skeleton, ruining other people's day with his ugliness. Jin Lian turned back, trying to erase the image of Guo Liang from her mind.
Still intrigued by Jin Lian's outer beauty, Guo Liang kept his adoring eyes on her, seemingly ignoring her face when she saw him. At least she acknowledged him.
Quickly, Jin Lian tied up her hair and forgot Guo Liang.
Admiring her, Guo Liang swore that he would make her fall in love with him, and if anyone upset her, he would get revenge for her.
Jin Lian. I will be your guardian angel.
