I woke up slowly as my wolf ran to see a forest I didn't recognize. The trees were black instead of the usual green and the sun didn't reach the ground at all. The forest casted an aura of danger and I felt the urge to flee.
'Where are we'
I ask my wolf still looking at my strange surroundings.
[I don't know I just went north looking for another pack.]
she responded her words laced with worry.
'Are you able to get us out of here? This forest feels like death.'
I could feel my wolf's unease and it was putting me on edge. Last thing I need was for her to land is in a werewolves hunters trap. Sure, I would probably be able to kill them, but I hate killing.
[I can handle the killing.]
My wolf popped a image of blood and gore into my head. I pushed it away quickly trying to get rid of the image.
'Of course you can. But back to my original question. Can you get us out of here?'
[I could, but Aurora I have been running all night and day. I have no idea if I will be able to make it out without falling asleep. You have to take control.]
'Will you be able to point me in the right direction?'
[Sure. Turn around.]
I stifled a laugh as she started to give up control.
I took control and stopped running to sniff the air, inhaling the smell of mint.
[Flashback...
I was six years old and my father was telling me about the war that happened between werewolves and vampires.
"Father how did you kill them if they were so fast" I asked thinking about the things he told me about vampires.
I relaxed with my feet swinging over the edge of the porch.
He chuckled "We ambushed them when they were heading to the castle" "Ripped their heads right off"
He smirked as if thinking of a fond memory while rocking in his chair.
I gasped imaging the bravery they had to have to enter a vampire's camp.
"How did you know where they were!" I asked. "Well werewolves have better senses than vampires in wolf form".
"Once we smelled them, we had the upper hand in the fight." He responded smiling.
"What do they smell like " I didn't even think vampires had a smell I thought waiting for my father to answer.
"Mint." He said, thinking about it. "They smell like mint..."]
I gasped with realization. I could feel my fear as the scent got closer I was shocked with fear.
Unable to move, vampires were the image of my nightmare.
'Wolf I can't do this I don't know how to fight them.'
I thought, shaking as my fear consumed me. They were just as strong as werewolves even when we are in our wolf form.
I Run Aurora!]
Hearing her yell in my head brought me back to reality.
I zoomed straight into the trees, knowing that werewolves were more adapted to the forest. I was running for a minute before I saw my first vampire. He was going so fast it seemed as if he was flying.
I put more force in my run, giving it all I had. I just got my freedom and I don't intend to lose it anytime soon. I could hear more vampires coming from everywhere . If the situation wasn't so bad than I would be entranced by there movement.
They were so beautiful but so deadly at the same time. Natural predators and it seems today I was the prey.
It was obvious that this was a hunt, just like they do for animals. That's all werewolves were to them,
I heard their wild laughs " We've got a runner here!"
I heard one crackle. It was just a game to them I realized. This isn't a hunt this is a sport that they enjoyed with friends. I wonder how many werewolves, they did this to. How many they murdered for their own sick enjoyment.
I could feel the anger building inside of me. My father wasn't lying when he said vampires are sick, evil creatures. I no longer wanted to run I wanted to fight. I wanted to harm them just just they harmed others. I wanted them to pay.
I felt my anger open another part of me up something I never felt before.
All of a sudden I was going faster than lightning. The power made me feel like a god! I was paying so much attention to the foreign power I forgot my surroundings.
[Watch out!]
I heard my wolf yell before something
landed on my back. I fell to the ground as the vampire pinned me down. Whoever he was, he was strong I realized.
I could feel his hold on my neck tightened and I fought for air. I could see dots, then I felt the darkness start to ascend. " You idiots brought me here for a mutt" was the last thing I heard before I fainted.
