Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Looking in their eyes he could saw death swirling around, but not his own. And they, even breathing possibly the last few breathes of their own life, were anchored down while their knees were brushing against ground and eyes were frozen still. Totally submissive like breathing corpses and just wandering how....Just how? Seeing all that and beginning to question even their faith and ...the death itself. Just waiting for last blow, looking at each other and with eyes dripping red. Face with blood dripping all over, even through eyes as tears used to, flowing and drying on skin. One with a cut slash through lower side of his left eye to the upper side of his right jaw and distorting the nose in between, began murmuring, some phrases in Sanskrit, maybe praying. He then turned toward others, open his mouth and cried '' This ..this is not the the en...."

SLASH

A swing and his upper and lower jaw disconnected, for forever. Sword just pierced through in a wink, effortlessly as rain through air and with teethes and tongue intact, splitting his jaws all the way to the backside of his head. Upper head was just tossed on the ground. And the other two , even before that splitted head stopped, theirs' got splitted. A blow of sword hitting horizontally on eyes and piercing all the way back. Next moment, ground was dripping with blood all over even muddy at some of the places, cause of all that bloods.

With swords on either hand, he stood there and just watch. Without even batting his eye and stared into all this. His eyes were dead like still and eyebrows were little stiffed yet seems relaxed. A sense of void was tingling into his heart, cause this day was coming to its end, and after all that happened today, a breeze of peace just flows through his body, and soul. Even the bones were softening as muscles were snoozing. He just dropped on his knees as his hairs covered his forehead. Face down, eyes closed, and shoulders relaxed, he just, for a moment just stayed still there.

When sun began to set on far horizon and painted the sky red. He turned around and takes a deep breath. Even though his eyes were calm and still, his heart stiffened, and stomach began to tighten. A whole caravan was splattered there. A dozen bodies lying, either their throat cut through or severed all over, Carts dripping blood, weapons splattered all around and few injured horses. Just pure chaos all around to be seen yet the silence of death was only thing that one could feel. Chaos and silence existed there.

One body had its head smashed through cart's wheel, and one with a sword piercing his head horizontally to its neck, and some who fought hard were most severed, with wounds of sword or hand to hand combat were all over. Bodies were all over the place, even above the carts. One corpse was just sitting in there with his back against the wall of cart, a javelin was piercing the cart from outside and coming right through his neck.

Carts were empty, there werent any supplies except some weapons and armory these soldiers were carrying with the flag of sultan, a golden new moon inscribed on leaf green triangular cloth attached to nearly 7 feet wooden pole. Now dragged into the ground covered in blood and dirt, being just a shadow of its former glory. Once stood atop and dancing with the wind, showing everyone its power. Which was feared by the enemies and neighbor states, for it bear the wrath of Sultan himself with it. Now humiliated and dragged cause all its might have been annihilated. It wasnt just a caravan, it was a cavalry of state itself.

Vultures began to appear over there. Crows, rodent and dogs picking and fighting over corpses, dragging intestines, gauging eyes out, and attacking those injured horses.

Armeen stood up. Barely able to stand straight, he began to walk through all this. Carefully avoiding the corpses, trying not to step on them. Hes taught to respect the dead, whoever they maybe. Once died, everyone began one with the God. Each step is a struggle as he pressed his hand on his thigh, a deep cut which spur blood which each step with each step. Whole body struggling through, a cut on his upper side of elbow on left arm, bruised left cheek, and multiple one on body, and even a wound at back, by a broken arrow through leather padding into his back, on lower left side of his right shoulder slightly distant from the spine. Still able to bear the pain, he walked towards those carts.

When stopped at the last cart there and dragged out a brown leather bag from it. A little tarnished although not too old, looks most new in compare to all the other cavalry supplies. Quarter the size of a sack with opening tied by a leather belt which is attached to it. He just emptied it on the cart floor. A whole lot of golden coins fell, mark of the state and the sultan embedded on them all, maybe payment for troops stationed at South west region. At the Division of two sovereign nation, the station serves as one of the most important military station of Sultanate, stood its ground against whole Union of Rajputana Empire. But ignoring all that money, he goes for a little leaf green silk pouch with golden thread work on its neck tied by a golden silk thread among them. Opened it and emptied it onto his palm. A finger size scroll falls out tied by a red thread with golden knot at its both ends, literally just screaming its royal status. Furthermore, it has seal of Dabir-I-Insha, the royal correspondence. A vast cavalry of state military itself, just to deliver the scroll from royal correspondence. When Armeen got the intel yesterday, even he was doubtful, maybe the rumours surrounding the empire are true? He kept he scroll into his left breast pocket without even looking at it. He just cant face it, maybe not now.

He started walking again, with scroll and all those coins, of course he wasnt planning to just leave them and after all money always come in handy. Before walking away from there, he puts few coins in each of those soldiers pockets, for their families. He exactly knows hows the life in poverty and being an orphan feels, but you gotta do what you gotta do. He never felt satisfied or proud after murdering, maybe at beginning but not now, not after all that hes been through in these last few years. At his late teens, hes seen a whole lot than he couldve ever thought. Slicing necks, being a trained killer before even turned 14 and becoming a master not long after. Craving to become who he's now and feel hollow still. Making choices he cant even take, doing the things that even Satan would despise but still living through, keeping his sanity at bay and just wanting to serve true justice, at least hopes to.

Armeen now came a long way, but still a lot to go and with continually bleeding out he doesnt even seem to have much time also. Armeen is still calm, he knows the situation very well. Nearest population is at least 3 miles away, but he doesnt have that amount of time. He knew that if he keeps bleeding like this, hell go unconscious surely and then itll be his end.

After walking for at least half a mile, he reached to the main roadway there. He sat near the pavements of the road and began to block the bleeding. He wraps his arm with piece of cloth he tore from one of those body. He tied it up little tight and just sat there with his back against a stone board, written on it were names and distances of next town or states. The road was maintained a lot by administration and regularly patrolled, for it is one of the major trade route of that area and sultan was very keen to keep trade at its best, nowadays distrust and conflict among allies kingdom is on the rise.

Armeen saw a few horsemen coming to his way. Three horsemen, bearded, tall with well built, all wearing black Kurta Pajama with armoury on top of it, large breastplates and gauntlet with metal padding on either arms and thighs, connectively joined by metal chains, and a metal helmet with little pointy at top. Grass green paint on those breastplates and green coloured cover cloth worn by those horses. Spears in their right arm and holding the bridle of horse from other with cavalry sabre hooked on their belts, they stopped near Armeen.

"Salaam, we are Patrol guard of this area. What happened to you? Have you been robbed?" asked the guard at front.

"No." Armeen replied calmly.

"Are you a traveller? How did you get injured?"

"I got caught up in between a fight."

"Please elaborate."

Armeen took out his dagger and showed it to them. The guards came down from their horses. The one at the front came close to the Armeen while the other two just stayed by the horses. He took a long look at that dagger.

"What about this dagger? "the guard asked.

"I just used it."

"On whom."

"On soldiers of the Military."

"Which ones. " Guards expression tensed.

"The ones from cavalry to Alwar."

"Did you kill any."

"Yeah, few of them. "

" Why?"

"They attacked me. They tried to loot me. "

"The military? Tried to loot you?" guard was getting a little sour.

"Yes. "he said and throws that leather bag on the ground. Gold coins fell out of the bag.

" They tried to take my hard-earned money."

"All these are yours? But they are of this kingdom." Confused by this scenario, guard was amused a little.

"So."

"You're not a foreigner? "

"NO."

"Umm, wheres the cavalry now and all those soldiers?"

"Few miles back, theyre all dead. They started fighting for the money and started killing each other. I tried to runaway but the rest of them caught me, so I have to kill them."

"So, you're the only survivor? "

"Yeah. "

The guard turned and looked at others, they were also feeling confused, no not confused but amused. They were still not sure, but they didnt have much time cause Armeen was bleeding badly. They cant just send him with one person cause hes clearly dangerous. This was a matter of military, they couldnt possibly do anything.

"You'll come with us. Until we investigate into this completely, we cant let you go. Well take you to military judge after you get treated."

"I understand." Armeen stayed calm.
