As Vlad rode through the afternoon, he noticed a black dot flying with the sun at its back maintaining a constant distance from them in the sky.
He passed word to the lieutenant of his observation - who nodded to him and held a finger to his lips. They continued with their ride.
At dusk when they had dismounted and made their camp for the evening, the lieutenant called him over.
He said "The enhanced regularly monitor our movements, in the future if you ride with us you will no doubt notice this." And he added, saluting is not a good idea - as it identifies leadership.
Its easy to forget that they are there watching and listening too. We have lost riders in the past, individuals or whole groups when we rode too close to their borders or moved in too large numbers, or for other unexplained reasons..
We are powerless against their technology. When we ride we try to keep numbers to less then 25, the smaller the better, no uniforms. It weakens us as a power, but it weakens our potential non-enhanced enemies too.
Because they limit the size of our units - each of us has to well trained and potent. Vlad - the way you fought - and think, you would be welcome among our Riders.
