Chapter 4: Smarter Calm Vlad.
Recoil and Vladimir awoke at around the same time.
He lay by the drone, processing his thoughts which streamed continuously through his mind.
Paramount was the current predicament with the two O.S.'s on their tail. Several solutions presented themselves to him. The first was to walk calmly up the hill towards them and kill them.
Strangely he was more worried about what would happen to the dog with the O.S's rather than the problems of killing the two O.S.'s. He walked over to Recoil and said. I'll be back in a bit. Then he walked up the hill looking for the Over Seers.
He found them beside the collapsed wreck under which he and Recoil had hidden the body.
Vladimir walked up beside them and sat on an adjacent wreck sipping the Gatorade substitute.
"What's under there he asked, gold or something?" He asked. The first O.S. had managed to drag out one leg of the Vladimir's previous days victim.
He looked back surprised to see Vladimir perched behind him and said. "Do you know who did this boy?"
"You work this area, right. According to our notes, two licensees to work this wreck sector, you and a girl – Pam Yvonne, with coloured hair. Where is the girl?" "Tell us who killed this O.S - lad!"
Vladimir hopped off the wreck he had been sitting on and plugged the tube for his camelbak.
He burped, then walked over to the body. He nudged it with his foot. "Wake, up man, or I'm in trouble. Come on man, wake the heck up". The two O.S.'s burst into laughter, "Hahhaha wake up Alexei… wake up...hahaha.." they laughed and the O.S. patted Vladimir on his back.
Then the taller of the two O.S.'s said. "Get out of here kid, your too stupid for me to bother with." "If you see the girl ask her if she saw anything."
"Alright O.S." Vladimir replied, then he bent down as if still trying to see what the guy lying down under the wreck was doing.
The second O.S. was not so friendly, and he snarled - "Scram - idiot!"
Vladimir jerked back.
Then turned and walked away down the hill to where Recoil lay hidden.
