Chapter 9: Decisions

Afterwards, Sasha and Doko took the children to their houses. Their parents complained for being so late. They completely overlooked the fact that their children finally had fun after a long time. Sasha didn't mind that, though. She knew it would happen. She was prepared for the worst. But, she wasn't prepared to give up.

At last, they reached Kum's house. His mother was seen standing at the front door.

"You're late. It's already sunset," said she before anything.

Kum tried to defend Sasha and Doko as he thought it was wrong of his mother to think like that.

"But, mom... We had a lot of fun together!" He said.

Sasha was glad when she heard him. But, she didn't hold back. She knew what was the right thing to do.

"I'm terribly sorry, miss. I lost my track of time," she said.

Kum's mother looked down at Kum and said in a rather angry tone ,"Kum,  do you know how worried I was? Get in now!!!"

He could not say anything else further more and went in. Then, she faced Sasha again. Sasha was prepared to hear anything from her. She wasn't scared because she realized that it was normal for a mother to worry about her child.

"Sasha, it's true that you lost your track of time today. But, my son didn't get the chance to have fun for a long time. Today, you made a miracle happen. You did the impossible. And, I am very grateful for that," she said.

Sasha wasn't expecting to hear such words from her at all. She was completely lost.

Kum's mother then closed her eyes and bowed before Sasha. Sasha was puzzled.

"Miss, what are you..."

"Thank you very much for everything you have done for my son."

Then she faced her again and made a kind of face that Sasha never thought she would see in her life. She (Kum's mother) had the happiest look in her face. "I hope you achieve everything you wish for in this land," she said.

Sasha stared at her. It was quite unexpected for her. "Everything I wish for..." She thought.

With those words, she got herself on a track. She had a clearer image of what she wanted to do.

"Thank you very much, miss."

After that, she and Doko started to head back home. While walking through the road between the trees and houses, the dim golden light started to fade away very slowly and one by one, the stars began to appear.

While walking, Sasha spoke up,"Doko, I realized something today." Doko looked back at her.

"What's that?"

"The villagers want to live happily. They want to have fun. But, they are just too afraid to do it."

They came out of the village and were gazing at the evening sky. Sasha stretched her hand out towards the vast land. She continued to express her thought.

"That's why I've decided..."

As she continued, Doko looked at her with a surprised face.

"...to stay here and make them brave," she said.

He kept on staring at her. He was very glad when he heard her say what she said. After a while, he again looked at the sky. He figured out that Sasha was starting to understand.

"Then I'll give you a hand just as promised," he finally said.

She looked at him and to her surprise, she got that he completely believed in her. It made her blush a little. It was indeed her first time experiencing such a recognition. So, it felt entirely out of world to her.

But, she liked it quite a lot.

They continued to head back home after a while. The sky was starting to reveal its darker side as time passed on.
