Going back to home by walking on this street at 8:00 PM with the street light illuminating my path with orange light, I've realize just how little of my classmate took seriously the paragraph written on the pamphlet.
Our room teacher didn't gave us books nor lectures to study with.
'Surviving comes first, winning comes last'—that's my motto for today.
As soon as I located the building where my apartment is, I ascend the stairs with great force that I ended up skipping two treads at once which remembers me my broken leg.
I continued skipping until I reached the floor where my apartment was and when I turned to the hallway, there was this guy looking about 16 years of age, solving sudoku while sitting down next to my apartment's door which I think is someone my 'like-friend'.
"Hey, what's the definition of your 'help'?" He asks still and stolid while writing his sudoku answers on his sudoku paper chart after I stop in in front of him.
"..."
"Doing something good for someone with conscience and care in the event of someone having a difficult or unpleasant situation while expecting nothing in return. i.e., getting involve with someones problem." I answered.
"...You've changed a lot kentaro. Now, would you let me stay in your apartment?" He asks, closing his sudoku and standing himself up.
"I'm sure you haven't forgotten the contract we both created and signed" I answered.
"You know, you would normally just say 'sure' to prevent any further 'triffles' what you called"
"It's my way of saying, 'I don't want to'" I responded brusquely, and opened the door to my apartment. "Help yourself." I continued.
"Thanks" He said, expressing his gratitude towards me and entered my apartment...with a smug look on face while I turn the lights on.
"I'll prepare a tea." said I.
On the sofa we took seat, he still haven't remove his smug look. while I continued staring at it, he remarked some joke: "Would you please stop lewding me with your eyes??"
"And would you please stop giving me a smug face? You look like a serial killer" I joked with a little chuckle came from me.
"Okay, enough with the 'contract'. what brings you here?" I ask.
"Nah, I lost my key to my apartment. I will be staying here for the night" He answered. "On the other hand, what will you do?" He continued and asks.
"Nothing" I answered curtly.
"Was expecting that you will say that" he remarked, taking a sip from his tea.
"You should be. you've known me since 3 years "
"Yeah, right. 'The more I hope, the more it hurts', was it?" He reminds me my motto when I was in a situation of quagmire.
"You might have known me for 3 years, I've a data of yours equivalent to 6 years " I remarked.
"He he he"
"I'll be going to sleep now. you can sleep wherever you want" said I, walking towards my bed after bringing my emptied cup of tea to my kitchen sink.
"Thanks!"
I laid down on my bed without having seen him where he sleep.
Ultimum Spes, I know what part you lied, and you know what part I lied.
