Chapter 51: Goku's Life in DC
So, the other day I stumbled across a What-If scenario that really intrigued me. Now this will be a two-part idea which is split between the two circumstances. I'm mainly using the Goku idea as the title, but it still involves the other possibility. I'd appreciate anybody's thoughts on what would happen between these ideas. I'll leave a link to the video in the comments down below, that way those who are interested can get the full story.
First off, we have if the Saiyan's were born in the DC Universe instead of Dragon Ball. Basically it's taking Superman's origins and plastering Goku into that position instead. He's sent to Earth after planet Vegeta is destroyed by the many enemies the Saiyans would gain. He is found by the Kent couple and adopted by them, wreaking havoc until his eventual head injury which causes him to take on his more docile personality. He is more properly educated this time around, but still not nearly as well as, say, Bulma, but he is taught the differences between genders and other such common knowledge. He is still desires to train and fight strong people but he is restricted by Martha, who believes that violence is never the answer. He eventually leaves home to train in martial arts and fight powerful foes. His journey will ultimately lead to him travelling to China and finding a master in I-Ching. I definitely recommend watching the original video for some more details, but I think this is good enough to start. One more thing to mention is that he'll be taking Superman's place in the creation of the Justice League, alongside Batman and Wonder Woman. This Goku will be more in line with the selfless hero the original English dub tried to portray him as.
So then we move on to Kryptonians in Dragonball and what that means for Kal-El. The main differences are that he and Bulma would eventually get together instead of him and Chi-Chi and Grandpa Gohan would die of natural causes instead of being killed by an Oozaru. More in-depth, Krypton is approached by the PTO and are asked to join them. Krypton refuses and a battle ensues, during which Jor-El sends his son to Earth, hoping the Yellow Sun will protect him. Kal is picked up by Gohan and raised by him, who will eventually come to know his powers. Years pass and Kal-El meets Bulma, who shoots him as she is searching for the Dragonballs. He is told by Gohan to go with her, as he needs to explore the world. Everything mostly plays out the same, except for the Pilaf Gang not managing to steal the Balls, where he is given the wish by his companions, and he wishes for knowledge of who he is. Basically, everything up until the Saiyan Saga would play out the same, but instead of Raditz, it would be Kara Zor-El. I imagine that the remaining Kryptonians were enslaved and are forced to wipe out systems that have Yellow or Blue Stars.
