Interesting dynamics. Plus one subscription, minus three. Plus four, minus two.
Probably, the reader expects a magic farmer ... and here ... a documentary series ... about politics, after the cold war ... detailed agriculture (although in truth it is not so detailed, 30 percent and 70 percent were left behind the narrative) . But even 30 percent of reality can lead to a loss of interest. And how much reality is needed?
Not more than 5 percent!
The novel should be more lively, the dialogue more colorful, less details ... more emotion and humor.
Then what attracts readers the most? Probably in the first place - the name. In the second - the genre, in the third - the reviews. Fourth - rating.
A good title is half the battle, since I drew the cover myself, it is not so attractive ... it means that the reader does not go because of it.
The genre is a fiction of reality, apparently assumes that the loser, having borrowed a magical thing, could overcome obstacles and become a cool rich man. Well, I'm not like that. Too unbelievable, even for fiction of reality. Life is a complicated thing, far from such as it is seen from the side. And there are many dark stripes in which clan foundations are hidden, which in fact are a brake on modifying and progress.
The fiction of reality ... in my understanding, these are possibilities, conditions, a certain argument, a tool in solving problems that are difficult to solve in real life.
Is it possible to create a new genre - fiction of a documentary story? Why not? I am sure that this genre will have its own, few readers.
If we talk about the notes about geography, they have their limitations.
The third review is usually the first reviewer writes what he thinks, but the second, third, fourth ... in order not to read the text, he relies on the previous one, mists a little, writes in his own words the thoughts of the previous reviewer. Of course, not everyone does it, but it's easier ... to save time, not to read a lot of letters, especially if their grammar is not very good and there are mistakes. But honor obliges, especially if it is a review - an exchange. Some people write reviews to gain experience, to get a new level.
Someone writes a review to activate ... someone to hone their skills of writing reviews, someone of interest in the work of the author. But there are not so many reviewers. Who agree to read 20-30-40 percent of the novel.
Therefore, it is somewhat doubtful to count on a review, 100 percent, to attract readers so that it is also credible. This is as lucky.
In my case, I was lucky, all the reviewers wrote what they thought and I am grateful for their advice and criticism for improving my novel.
The fourth point is the rating. As in science, with the Hirsch indices, there is always the possibility of artificially winding them. Therefore, to evaluate the work of a scientist only on these metric parameters is extremely not reliable. Ratings, as can be seen from practice, can be either screwed up or lowered. This is a whole business.
Therefore, in order to get more or less an idea of a novelty, you will still have to read it ... and when you read ... then ... presented in the mind, differs from what you expect ... from what you see. In view of this, and subscribers go.
In addition, in the reviews, the authors write that they expect constructive criticism, pointing out mistakes, but in fact not everyone is ready to accept it. Agree with this, correct the mistakes. After all, we are authors, we believe that our work is simply gorgeous. But the evaluation from the side shows weaknesses. The ability to apply cryptics is not given to everyone. At the same time, of course, the criticism must be within the framework of network ethics, without any labeling, rudeness, mockery of the author. We, readers, appreciate the work, the novel and not the author himself.
The bottom line is - if our visions are different from reality, we are looking for something different, new.
And as a general conclusion, to get an idea of the novel, you need to trust only your opinion)))
