Chapter 10: Who is my fiance?
After doctor Shi left, Lily had complicated feelings regarding her situation. She was alone without family or friends in an unknown place. At least she didn't seem to a have ennemies but she couldn't completely trust the brothers and the doctor. After all, she was without memories and she wasn't naive enough to put her entire trust in their words. Also, she was absolutely certain that her first name was Lily. Her gut feeling was telling her so. She couldn't do much in state so she had to abide her time until she was healed.
The following weeks were quite quiet. Though SongJae came to see her every morning and every night, LingLing would only glance at her in passing and sneered every single time. The doctor came every week, monitoring her state, conversing with her and trying to trigger some memories. The rest of the time, she would look at the very large file that was left to her by Song Jae. Seeing she had no memories, the man had provided her with an historical account of her life, his life and "their life".
She was an orphan that grew up in a foster family next to SongJae's. Her foster grandparents had arranged for an engagement with SongJae when she was first adopted in the family. But then her whole family died when she turned 15 in plane crash and she was left alone again. She studied hard to get a scholarship to H university, the most prestigious one in the continent, even in the world. Then she disappeared to go on a trip for a year and was found lying on the side of the road by SongJae.
Looking at pictures of her family and her didn't evoke any particular feelings in her. It seemed she was looking at strangers. Lily sighed. She didn't feel like looking at the info regarding SongJae. She was reluctant for some reason. She put the file down and decided to take a stroll.
As she was passing in front of the office, she heard two familiar voices having a discussion.
"Brother, why did you refuse to meet with Sue Dee? She is a potential investor! She could have solved our issue easily!"
"She has a hidden agenda, we can take care of it ourself. LingLing, if you always on rely on others to help you, you will never learn to resolve your problems by yourself. Besides, she wanted me to accompany her to a Country C's debutante bal. Being seen with her there is like stating to the whole world that our relationship is more than professional. I already have a fiancée and only her can accompany me to that bal. If she can't go, I won't go."
