Chapter 19: A Series of Small Incidences

"Ojiro-kun! You were great back there!"

"Yeah! He went like Whooosh!! I can't believe you captured Shoji so easily and then captured the other guy too!"

"No, actually, everything was planned out by Yamori-kun. If he didn't have that back-up plan, even though I managed to get there in time, I probably wouldn't have been able to do anything."

"You mean, from start to end, Yamori had everything planned out?!"

"Uwah. That's scary."

"But, in any case, you were able to save your partner and became the MVP! You should give yourself more credit."

...hah. It's too noisy.

"By the way... Speaking of that guy, why is he acting more bummed out than the losers?" Kaminari crossed his arms as he asked, glancing at a figure who sat on the floor, leaning on the wall in silence. "See? It's kinda scary."

"Oh, Yamori-kun seemed to have overused his quirk a while ago so he said he was going to sleep for a while." Ojiro explained for his partner.

"I see! So the drawback for overusing his quirk is experiencing lethargy!" Iida exclaimed in understanding.

"With the scale of his quirk, I'd say, that's a pretty light price to pay." Kirishima added.

"Yeah, but I could end up sleeping for a few days straight if I really pushed myself." I rubbed my face and got up, having given up on sleeping.

Hah... I'll just skip class later and nap on the roof.

"Sorry, Yamori-kun. Did we wake you?" Ojiro smiled apologetically.

Ah, I can't really speak honestly if he looks at me like that...

"No... It's fine." I sighed helplessly. "I wasn't really expecting to be able to sleep well here."

"Well, it's afternoon anyways." Kirishima grinned and patted my shoulder. "Just sleep when you get back home, bro."

"Okay." I nodded in agreement.

"Yamori-kun! Regarding your strategy, I would like to talk to you about it!" Iida declared as he headed straight towards me.

Uwahhh... He's so straightforward that it's intimidating.

"O-oh... Okay..?" I forced a smile on my face as I got dragged into a lengthy conversation.

Crack.

I looked up towards a certain direction, attracted by a sound that could've been easily ignored but, somehow, I didn't. In any case, as I looked, I saw an angry blonde glaring at me.

Hah... As I thought... I'm really not fit for socializing.

I turned to face him and stared back.

Then I grinned.

...

"I know you've given him your power but, whether he's your favorite or not... you have to stop indulging him!"

"No, you're absolutely right... I was sympathizing with him too much and ended up hesitating... but um... Can you keep it down? At least when discussing One For All?"

Hah...

"Oh, right. Sure thing, Mr. Natural-born hero, Mr. Symbol of Peace."

"This true form of mine and my injury are common knowledge... to the staff at U.A.! However... Only you, the principal, an old friend of mine, and Midoriya here know of my quirk. It's a secret to all others."

"I don't suppose that's just you resting on your laurels then? It's that important, huh? That you be a natural-born hero and the symbol of peace?"

This is bad... I ended up eavesdropping on a pretty important conversation.

"Without me... This superhuman society would fall to evil. This is... the responsibility that those who wield this power must bear!!"

Should I leave...?

"Then... It's all the more important... that you learn how to guide him properly!!"

Slam!

Oh shit! No time to run! Quick! Act calm!

"Yamori... shonen!" The moment All Might walked out, he immediately spotted his student leaning on a wall calmly in front of him. "How long have you been there..?"

All Might hoped that he had only arrived but, the answer he recieved made cold sweat drip from his temples.

"Long enough to know everything, I suppose. Say, should I keep referring to you as Izuku's uncle or do we stop all the pretence?"

All Might opened his mouth but didn't know exactly what to say. "Yamori shonen, this information-"

"Sensei, you don't have to worry. I'll keep my mouth shut about this." All Might stood stiffly as his student calmly passed by him and entered the nurse's office. "I came by to visit Izuku in the clinic and passed by All Might in the hallway. That's all that happened."

For quite some time, All Might was unable to move from his spot.

Unknown to him, his student was mentally releasing a sigh of relief.

Hah... Problem successfully avoided.

...

After getting back to the classroom, the next period teacher was already there, waiting, leaving me no chance to escape to the roof.

Who cares. I'll just nap on my desk.

So, just like that, I spent the rest of the afternoon classes napping. It was unknown if my bad luck for today was exhausted by this morning's incidents but, somehow, not a single teacher caught me.

It was strange.

"Yamori-kun, wake up." A calm voice said as someone gently tapped my shoulder. "The last class is over."

"Oh. Thanks." I raised my head and stared in a daze for a few moments, the remnants of sleep still leaving its grasp on my thoughts. "...Ojiro-kun..."

"What is it..?" Ojiro asked, his shadow looming over my desk.

"Teach me martial arts." I mumbled sleepily.

"Huh? What is this all of a sudden?" Ojiro asked in confusion.

"Heh. You shouldn't take him too seriously right now, bro. Yamori is just saying stuff randomly, half asleep." Kirishima suddenly popped up. "I used to do that too when I was a kid!"

"Yeah... but Yamori-kun isn't a kid, though..." Ojiro mumbled to himself.

Hwaaaahhh~

I yawned and stretched my limbs, glancing at the class and saw that many people had already gone home.

"But, between the first and second battle, I don't know which one was scarier."

"If you're saying scary, you mean those three, right?"

"Yeah. Todoroki, Yamori, and Bakugo. Those three were just insane!"

"I totally understand what you feel! Us mobs really stand no chance against naturally gifted people!"

In another corner of the room, Kaminari, Ashido, and Mineta were chatting together in hushed voices.

"Aside from those three, Midoriya and Tokoyami also stood out."

"Yeah, but Midoriya's quirk has a huge drawback on his body."

Slide.

Along with the sliding of the door, a head of curly green hair peeked inside cautiously.

"Oh, Midoriya's here!! Welcome back, man!!" Kirishima was the first to greet the returning student eagerly, his enthusiasm infecting the other students as they too, began to surround the boy. "I don't know what you were saying back there but, that was a wild battle!"

"Huh?" Izuku was stunned by the intense greeting he recieved and was unable to respond properly.

"Nice dodging."

"We were all super pumped up after that crazy first round."

"I'm Kirishima Eijiro! We were all discussing about the battle training!" Kirishima introduced himself enthusiastically.

"I'm Ashido Mina! You dodge really well!"

"I'm Asui Tsuyu. Just call me Tsuyu."

"I'm Sato!"

"So noisy..."

Clack. Thump.

Suddenly, I saw a head of half white, half red hair pass in front of me and, instinctively, I raised my leg and blocked his pathway.

Ah? Why did I do that?

"Move aside."

Uwah. So cold.

Somehow, his cold response made me feel like toying with him, so, despite his glare, I just kept my leg there.

"Yo~ You're Todoroki-kun, right?" I smiled at him carelessly. "I'm Yamori Kaito. Sorry about earlier. I tend to take things too far sometimes. No hard feelings, alright?"

After being surrounded by many classmates who introduced themselves to him enthusiastically, Izuku began to feel as if something that was always there with him was missing and he began to look around and finally saw what he was looking for. But, it seems that he was talking seriously with someone else. "Kaito...?"

"It has nothing to do with me. I just need to leave." Todoroki responded coldly, not even sparing me a glance.

"Heh~ Okay then." I shrugged my shoulders and lowered my foot, allowing him to pass.

Seeing Izuku distracted, Kirishima turned to look at what occupied his attention and his eyes widened. "Oi, Yamori is confronting Todoroki. Isn't this bad?"

"Kirishima, you're thinking too much." Kaminari patted his shoulder in reassurance. "They know better than to start a fight here."

"Huh? Fight? What happened?" Izuku asked around in confusion.

"But, you know... If you only used your left side, I would've lost to you immediately." I whispered as Todoroki walked in front of me.

"Tch." Todoroki clicked his tongue and walked away.

Ah, I'm really bad at socializing.

"Oh, they just got set up against each other in Battle training." Ashido answered Izuku's question in the simplest manner.

"Battle training..?" Izuku furrowed his brows, as if trying to remember something he had forgotten. "Oh, right! Kacchan!"

Slide. Slam!

Suddenly, Izuku ran out quickly, leaving everyone else confused.
