Chapter 4: Nathan's Story - PT 2

When Nathan reached middle school he was met with unexpected difficulty in the form of bullying. The person who called Elijah had started it when they shared the same classes of many main subjects.

The reason behind this is quite childish. Elijah didn't like how a non-power had outdone him in almost every subject just by sleeping through most of the class. Elijah was too prideful to accept how easily Elijah completed each and every assignment in a few minutes. Which had took him many painstaking hours to complete to perfection.

These bullies who tormented Nathan were payed even less attention too as if they weren't even there. Nathan's view on Elijah only worsened to these events. Nathan was too cold, and too indifferent to care. This was due to what he was taught to not mess with those with abilities.

Due to the indifference whether he was being bullied or not. Others could see it on his face that he was pretty annoyed at the bullies, and ignored them like were flies. The young lady who acted like a tomboy acted like such no longer. Her ability was pretty much ice. She could create it, summon it, and move it at will with no repercussions.

Her attitude was like her ability. Her indifferent attitude, and her unwillingness to talk to anyone was like a indomitable mountain. And that Elijah was constantly after her, so no one really did anything.

Nathan would simply carry on with his thoughts of, 'Soon enough. These annoying people will just give up and leave me alone.'

Elijah even tried talking to Nathan to lower his grade. In which Nathan didn't even reply, and shrugged it off like it didn't pertain to him. Nathan was pretty much the target of everyone. Whether it be physical or verbal violence, it pretty much happened to him. His indifferent attitude continued to persist even though out the harassment.

He could have told the teachers about it, and probably would get them to stop doing this. But Elijah didn't care, so that what mattered the most. The teachers who taught in the abilities courses with those with abilities even cared less so. As those without look like pretty nice flies in their way to success.

Even though they thought that, they still had to recognize Nathan's supreme audacity, and intelligence to act in this indifferent and self-cruel way. One of the teacher's commented, "If this boy had abilities. He would be one of the top students by now. I tell you, Nathan is just that good."

However the longer they dream, the more distracted they are. In which they pushed aside this matter in a couple of days. There was no way in hell that they were going to help a student which future isn't looking too bright.

One day during school main subject class room. While Nathan was sleeping, he felt a sharp pain in his head. And this time he truly felt like he was going through hell. The teacher's could see his appearance having convulsions.

So they quickly called the Nurse which deftly took care of Nathan. Even after a few minutes, Nathan didn't stop which provided that Nathan wasn't in a stable condition. And so they sent over to someone who could. Which happened to be the hospital's ER room.

Somewhere else in entirely. A man in a dark blue business suit spoke to a man wearing a black cloak, "So. The deed is done?" The man in the cloak scratched his head and spoke,

"I suppose you could say that . . His soul, well it doesn't exist anymore. Strange. It's too odd. It's been replaced."

After that statement, the other man huffed and then spoke,

"Well? What about that new one? Can you deal with it?" The black cloaked man shook his head, and spoke out,

"It's impossible. My ability is not acting like it should be. Or at least it's being nullified by another soul force."

The other man got rather irritated, and began to march off from where he was. He needed somewhere he could blow off some rather needed steam.

A day went by and Nathan stopped having convulsions. But he had yet to woke up. So another week went by with just silence, and his condition seemed fine. It was like he was in a semi-permanent coma like stasis.

Then a pounding sound came throughout his mindscape, [System Awakened. Memory restoration complete.] As a flood of memories came by, and Nathan, rather the soldier, fluttered open his own eyes.

The nurse that took care of him looked over, and saw him open his eyes. Seemingly in a dazed like constitution as if he wasn't aware where he was, or if he wasn't here. The nurse quickly ran to the doctor to inform he/she of the situation.

The soldier with his new childlike body still both memories it was confusing. But at the same time. The soldier overpowered the other personality, and seemingly forced it out his head and mindscape.

'System. Who am I?' He thought.

[You are technically Nathan, but at the same time not.]

'Well. I suppose that answers my question.'
