Chapter 21: Land and buildings

While fighting his way out of the dungeon, he noticed that the armor although increasing his defensive capabilities, decreased his speed too much since it was quite heavy, and although he could run with it, nimble movements and sprinting was very tiresome. He decided to take it off and sell it along with a lot of the other items, and buy a lighter set of gear at a shop in the city. When he got out of the dungeon he noticed it was already getting dark, and he needed to find a place to rest for the night. After going back to the main road of the city which he learned is named Alpha, he quickly found people willing to buy his loot, the armor sets sold for 200 each, and the wolf cores for 25 gold each, but the beginners weapons no one was willing to buy, since apparently there was a surplus of them everywhere. He sold everything he had except the dimension cages and his wolfs, when he checked his inventory and learned he had a total of 3705 gold, he proceeded to buy all 4 of the passive skills sold in the system shop, sold for 500 gold each, he had obtained [ItemAppraisal], [DangerDetection lv1], [HidePresence], and [LanguageUnification]. It seemed [LanguageUnification] auto translated words so that people of all races and ethnicities could communicate easily. The rest of the skills were just like their name, although he was sad that writing was not auto translated since he had a few lightnovels in japanese that he wanted to read, he once again felt like this world was similar to a game. Alt started looking around the city looking for a place to sleep, he was also looking around for a set of light armor, but he found a hotel first and decided to just go in and get some rest, it seemed land in this place could be bought with gold and if you pay X5 the gold the original buyer bought it for, you could buy out the land obtaining ownership of it, but the current owner could deposit money into the building increasing the price which you bought it for, basically paying for the building in deposits to decrease the chance of having the building bought out. Some added features were that when you owned the land, you could customize it however you wished, and even ban up to 10 individuals from entering the building. What you couldn't do however, was create anything that would not be considered a furniture or house accessory, although you could create for example cannons on your roof, you couldn't create gunpowder, or cannonballs, nor could you create indestructible and self repairing walls, or a sentient house that could fight anytime. In order to edit the building, you needed to enter editing mode which made you unable to use your powers, which was why most building owners lived with other people to help them defend the building, or just turned it into a hotel where attacking the place, or killing the owner gained you the wrath of most of the current guests, since it made the entire building reset and turn back into a empty plot of land. Even so, there were some cases of the building owner getting killed since killing the owner automatically meant the plot of land becoming free to buy once again, and since almost all rankers used the land they owned as the battle grounds when challenged to gain a advantage, the winner of a rank battle usually gained the loser's land. What made Alt want to cry was that this whole place had no internet, although tv's and DVD players could be made if you own land, you needed to try to find the item you desire yourself from the system managed shops that exist outside of the city, shops that contained food, books, and electronics existed outside the city, and they even automatically restocked themselves every week, but since it was outside of the city the no kill rule that was enforced in the city didn't apply there, making it very hard to obtain the objects you desire, after reading the help tab for a bit longer Alt tried to fall asleep. What woke him up when he was almost asleep was a new notification that read, "City wide announcement: Player ranked #7 Dust has died to rank 47 Seeker and Seeker has become rank 7, please congratulate the birth of a new top ranker. To view the battle click view, to close this message click close. [View] [Close]"

Alt wanting to know how strong the top ranked were clicked on view, a new message appeared in front of him, "Which perspective would you like to view in? [Dust] [Seeker] [Overview]" Alt clicked on Overview and the surroundings changed, he felt similar to the feeling of being in the void again, but this time he was floating above a sandy and desolate place about as large as a football stadium with two people a couple meters away from each other, with a large timer counting down 10, 9, 8.... 3, 2, 1, after the timer reached 0, the battle began.
