Chapter 53: Chapter 53: Starting The Fusion Process
"A bone of the Ice God?!" Skydream was stunned, completely shocked than he ever has in his entire lifetime.
After all, what Ice Empress was saying was completely absurd and impossible!
"How is that, no, how in the Ice God... did you manage to find this?!" Skydream paused for a moment, his figure shivering, trying to properly understand about the object in Ice Empress's hold.
"It was a few hundred years ago. I found it in a ancient ruin, buried several thousand feet under the eastern core region while scouring for cultivation resources because "somebody" took all the good shit!" Ice Empress explained, glaring at Skydream but the latter was still too stunned to even react to her accusation.
"Brother Skydream, what...is that?" Huo Yuhao asked, gulping as he approached, his eyes fixed on the bone in Ice Empress's deadly jaws.
Skydream snapped out of his stupor and quickly composed himself. "This...as Ice Empress said, is a bone of the Ice God," he answered, his voice tinged with disbelief. "Huo Yuhao, what do you know of Gods?"
"That they're...Gods? I mean, the closest ones that I could think of are either Ancestor or...Sea God Tang San and the original Shrek Seven Monsters."
Skydream nodded. "I don't know about that old freak but the original Shrek Seven Monsters are the kind of Gods that I'm talking about and how I hope you'll one day become one as well; an existence that has an unlimited lifespan, limitless power and absolute control over the world!"
Huo Yuhao gulped, he clenched his hands. How could he decline such a tempting offer? The thought of becoming a God, with all the power and control that came with it, to achieve his vengeance.
Also, was it possible to revive his mother when he becomes a God?
"A God's bone... even throughout my many lifetimes, this is the first time I'd ever seen something so... divine. Except for my father's eyes that is." Ancestor muttered, floating up and look upon the divine bone with an empty look.
He then turned towards the two mighty soul beasts and said. "Feeling this somber atmosphere...is there something more to this bone than meets the eye?"
Skydream and Ice Empress shared a glance, Skydream let out a sigh and replied. "As I had said, this shouldn't be possible."
"What is?" Huo Yuhao curiously asked.
"The Ice God's bone. It, this, shouldn't be here." Skydream said with a dead serious expression. "Gods.... are Gods for a reason. Although they can die, considering the Divine War, but not of natural causes. They can only be killed by another God or beings at the same level of a God."
"Then what's so surprising about the Ice God being dead?" Huo Yuhao tilted his head, not getting it.
"It's so surprising because the Ice God is the reason the Extreme North exists and would continue existing as long as the Ice God is alive. Why? Because this snowy land is a part of himself, a fraction of his Divine Domain over Ice and Snow."
"What?!"
Huo Yuhao was stunned.
'This entire land of ice and snow, which stretches out for thousands of kilometers, is just a fraction of the Ice God's Divine Domain?!'
He knew Gods were incredibly powerful beings, but he had never imagined that they could have such control over the world!
But then, thinking about the God Title of Tang San...
Skydream continued, "The Ice God's Divine Domain is the source of his power and his connection to this world. Its existence keeps the Extreme North frozen and covered in eternal snow and ice. Without the Ice God, this entire region would cease to exist."
Huo Yuhao looked at the bone in Ice Empress's hold, his eyes filled with awe and reverence. "So, if this is the bone of the Ice God, then does that mean...the Ice God is dead?"
Skydream solemnly shook his head. "I don't know. But Gods don't just leave behind their bones, you don't hear the Sea God doing that right?"
He then turned towards Ice Empress and asked. "Does anyone else know? Also, is it only just a single bone? What about the rest?"
Ice Empress shook her head. "What do you think I am? Of course I didn't tell anyone! As for the rest of the bones, I didn't find anything else. I even dug a thousand feet of diameter around where I first found it and there was nothing else."
Ancestor then asked Ice Empress, "Then, what's your intention of showing us this?"
"...She wants to use this divine object to increase Yuhao's potential of becoming a God." Skydream translated the unspoken question. "Isn't that right, Ice Empress?"
Ice Empress hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Yes, that's right. With the power contained within the Ice God's bone, the boy's talent and potential would explode exponentially! Making him the continent's greatest genius! By my estimations, by less than thirty years, he will become a God!"
She then paused, looking reluctant and regretful, before letting out a deep sigh. "Moreover, there's a huge possibility that when we transmit the power of the Ice God'd bone into him... he'll get the Ice God's Inheritance, making him the next the Ice God."
Ancestor hummed, rubbing his chin. "Hm. Ice Empress, with such a tempting power in your...hold. Why haven't you taken the power for yourself and become a God?"
Ice Empress looked down, a bitter expression on her face. "Because I was hesitant. You might not know but in order to inherit a God's power, one must have some compatibility with that certain God. And as someone who has a bit of the Ice God's blood and control over Ultimate Ice, I certainly fit the criteria to inherit the Ice God's position."
"So what's the problem?" Huo Yuhao asked.
Ice Empress sighed, "The problem is however, that I can't transmit the power into my soul beast form because soul beast cannot become Divine Beasts! This was a divine rule set by the Gods when the Divine Beasts rampaged across the Divine Realm and lost in the Divine War."
"And so I can only reincarnate into a human in order to fuse this God bone into me. However, the probability of it succeeding is around 10%! And by some miracle it did, I'm only 30% certain I'll become a God. That's a chance I can't take!"
"Uh, then isn't this kinda dangerous? I mean, I already have most of Brother Skydream's energy still sealed in my body." Huo Yuhao spoke up nervously, making everyone turned their heads towards him. "And with Ice Empress fusing with me to become my second martial soul, soul ring and soul bone... won't my body explode if we add in the Ice God's bone to my body?"
"That is...true..." Skydream said, scratching his head with his tail. "There is a... big possibility of overloading your body with too much power. The Ice God's bone contains immense energy, and combining it with the energy of my sealed soul would indeed put a heavy strain on your body."
"So are just going to store this in the meantime?" Ice Empress asked.
"And have more of its power leak out?" Ancestor interjected, sounding serious. "No. It'll be useless for us and might become a liability for us as Titled Douluos might track it."
"Then, what are we going to do?" Skydream hurriedly asked, frustration clear in his voice.
"We seal it." Ancestor suggested, looking incredibly dignified despite being faceless.
"...Explain." The trio listened closely, feeling confused.
"I have a special technique that lets me seal objects, living beings, energy, along with a wide variety of other things within another object; I had taught some of it to my incarnation as well. It's called Fuinjutsu."
Ice Empress narrowed her eyes, "But, that doesn't solve our problem–"
Huo Yuhao cut her off, his eyes wide. "No wait, it does! Fuinjutsu isn't just about storing things into another, like how Brother Skydream stores his energy into my spiritual sea, it's a technique that creates a small dimension like the storage belt around my hip and won't leak out its energy uncontrollably."
Ancestor nodded. "Good! You listened well."
Skydream then added, "But then, could the storage dimension even handle the immense energy of the God Bone?"
Ice Empress snorted and said. "It's merely a fraction of a God's power. If we can't even seal it, then we might as well throw this whole God Plan down to the gutter!"
She was desperately putting her everything into this plan for unlimited lifespan and power. Although she only had a few hundred years left to live, to soul beast, it would feel like a mere couple of years! Since she made her decision, she would go all-out!
"Ah, I was just joking, just joking!" Skydream chuckled, cold sweat rolling down his forehead. "Alright then, how should we do this in order?"
The two soul beasts and old ghost then began to talk on how they were going to fuse Ice Empress into Huo Yuhao's body and how were they going to make a seal contain the God Bone.
Although Huo Yuhao's physical body was excellent among his peers, but it still wasn't enough to make him easily absorb a almost 400,000 thousand year old soul beast. At most of what he could absorb right now was a 5~8,000 years old soul ring.
However, he had the help of peak soul beasts in the soul master world! As long as they meticulously handle the situation, Huo Yuhao would be safe but the end result would still fall in the latter.
If he can't handle the pain that would befall upon him during the fusion, then everything would fall apart and they die!
It didn't take them long to decide. They would first fuse Ice Empress's powers into Huo Yuhao, the order was this; her torso bone, her soul, and finally her ring. This was the highest method to succeed and would transfer much of Ice Empress's strength to Huo Yuhao but it was the most painful. Sealing the God Bone would then proceed after the fusion.
The Ice Empress, full name Ice Jade Empress Scorpion, then said with a solemn tone of voice, "Okay. Since that's the case, let's not waste any more time."
Her crystalline yellow pupils gradually turned jade-green, while her long, jade-green tail suddenly rose into the air. This was something that she was only able to do after Skydream had loosened her bindings.
In a flash of jade-green light, small, jade-green balls of light began to separate from one another as they slowly rising into the air. At the same time, Ice Empress's eyes immediately lost their luster and dimmed.
This was her spiritual origin, her soul.
After losing her spiritual origin, the Ice Jade Empress Scorpion's main body fell to the ground. With her spiritual origin no longer controlling it, her body immediately began to release an extremely terrifying amount of murderous might and chill.
Doing this meant that there was no going back for the Ice Empress any longer, showing her desperation and determination for power!
Skydream, who observed all of this, let out a deep sigh and said, "Yuhao, we'll be starting your fusion with the soul bone of Bing'er. However, you need to understand that this is an incredibly painful process!"
"It is true Yuhao," Ice Empress gently added as she finally got used to her new form. Compared to Skydream, she was more warm spoken and patient towards Huo Yuhao. "Due to the overly enormous amount of energy my soul bone contains, your entire skeleton will be remoulded by my soul bone. This process will be relatively long, and extremely painful. You'll feel as if all your bones are being disassembled and reconstructed. Can you withstand this amount of pain? My energy can protect your body, but it can't protect your mind. If you're unable to endure the pain and your mind collapses, everything will all be wasted."
A sharp glint flashed across Huo Yuhao's eyes, recalling his childhood past.
Of his kind mother, dying, the wretched mansion and those scums...
What was pain compared to losing his loved one?
"Ice Empress, I can endure it. No matter how painful it gets, I'll be fine." Huo Yuhao's voice was since and filled with determination.
Kneeling to the thick snow, Huo Yuhao hurriedly took of his upper clothes, showing his toned and slightly muscular body to the biting cold, and his storage belt because the fusion process would leak out an explosive power that would no doubt destroy his items. He wanted to at least keep his shirt and storage belt safe.
With a deep voice, the Ice Empress said, "Huo Yuhao, are you ready?"
Huo Yuhao nodded forcefully, "Do it!"
The instant the word echoed out, a chilly sensation immediately blossomed in his mind. Huo Yuhao instinctively shivered, feeling as if he had fallen into a cavern of ice. This was somewhat different from how he had felt in the underground ice house in the Extreme North. At this moment, the chilly sensation had appeared in his soul itself, making it seem as if his mind had been frozen solid.
The Ice Empress' voice rang out, "I'll use the cold to numb your pain, so as to reduce the pain you'll feel to the very minimum. However, your body isn't fully developed yet, so I'll have to be extremely careful while fusing with your original skeleton. Because of this, this process will go on for a very long time. For the sake of attaining maximum effectiveness, you can't pass out. The only way I can make a few adjustments based off your body's instinctive reactions is if you remain conscious."
At this moment, Huo Yuhao was no longer able to respond, only being able to ground his teeth and clench his hands.
A jade-green light flourished in Huo Yuhao's mind, and his Sharingan instantly turned jade-green accordingly. Ancestor and Skydream appeared to have gone completely silent, allowing Ice Empress to carry out the fusion process.
Huo Yuhao began to slowly float up his eyes shot out two rays of jade-green light, accurately landing on the Ice Jade Empress Scorpion's body, bright jade green light erupted from the body as it began to fly towards him.
An intense jade-green light wildly fluctuated towards the tip of her tail. When the jade-green light turned dark-green, the Ice Empress suddenly swung her tail, viciously stabbing it into Huo Yuhao's tailbone.
