Chapter 66: Calling out bluff
Darick woke up in a bunk bed still in the submarine a little disoriented but well rested. From his side he heard "Well look who decided to wake up, can't leave you alone or all manner of trouble can happen."
Darick got up to respond feeling relieved at hearing a familiar voice making fun if him "Shut up asshole. This is what I get for trusting strangers as usual. Did that security jerk survive enough for you to drink the info out of him?"
Tral went over to open a closet up and pull out a gagged officer who was exceptionally scared before casually saying " I seem to remember him hearing something about eating your ass so I'm going to leave you two alone for a while and call up Mr.Simic to see what up.... ByYye you kinky weirdo."
Darick laughed at this and the man started freaking out even more. "Those energy drinks sure make me have to fart something real fierce so even though my friend knows what you know, I kinda want to hear it from your mouth and depending on how you answer I'll see if I'm feeling merciful about how close to your face this fart is going to be." Was all Tral heard before he closed the door behind him extremely thankful for making the ventilation system somewhat decent.
Tral then went over to the communication room which he had to install the devices necessary since the sub was made rather hastily but he had time to do that while Darick was sleeping.
He punched in Mr.Simics number before sitting in an executive swivel chair with a head set precariously hung around his head.
It only took a couple rings till the call was answered with "Hello you've reach Mr.Simic of I-Game-Shiny human resources how can I help you today."
Tral had a mischievous grin on his face as he replied in a cheesy customer way "Hello Mr.Simic I have a bit of a complaint to file for general employee misconduct are you the correct person to speak to about this matter."
Mr.Simic paused for a moment then responses "I would be happy to help can you please tell me the exact nature of this misconduct sir."
"Well you see my brother in arms happened to return to the apartment you assigned us and was jumped by street thugs clearly waiting for him in an attempted assassination followed swiftly by public security who also tried to kill him now I'm not claiming you or the company would do such a thing but it stands to reason that some of your fighters don't want to play fair." Tral states in a casual tone as if this all was a minor inconvenience.
Mr.Simic voice changes at this becoming most serious "Mr.Arave I warned you and your companion not to commit crimes within this city, I would suggest he turn himself in for the extensive damage to the city as well as several murders before we are forced to give you up to the church as an accomplice."
Tral just chuckled at this "We both know that all that damage as well as the murders are the direct result of the pUbLic sEcUriTy forces but if that's the way you want it then my sire is going to so upset after going through all this effort to send his newly turned servant and his hard to kill friend to participate in your companies tower that falsely claimed to except our kind as he has been such a fan since waking up but I'm sure he will act in a civil manner when he investigates why after he kills me for being a failure."
There was silence for a bit on the other end of the call as Mr.Simic was deciding how to react to this till he finally responded "Well we would hate to disappoint such an avid fan.. I'm going to put you on hold if that's alright and make a few calls so that maybe we can find out who is truly responsible for these crimes."
Tral told him to take his time as he would rather not be slaughtered by his sire for a minor misunderstanding.
The line switched over to a repetitive musical number as it was out on hold (Laa Laa lala La lala Laaa Laa La).
Tral goes over to the intercom to talk to Darick while humming the tune before asking "Soo did he tell you everything or do you want me to?"
Darick's voice soon comes over the speaker "He says he doesn't know the details but his commanding officer ordered them to set up in that area since earlier today and that it is possible there were bribes involved with competition in the tower as this isn't the first time they had made it so that people weren't around to make their fights."
Tral smiles at this with a cocky response "Well it's good to know that your farts are as convincing as ever, I just got put on hold with Mr.Simic but I'm going in for my scheduled fight tomorrow cause if I don't my sire will slaughter me before going into a blood rage across the city aaand as he says 'the church won't stop me cause they want more death especially before the great change' whatever that means."
He hangs up after this satisfied that his bluff holds just enough of the churches vague bullshit to be believable to the officer and possibly the I-Game-Shiny company who is likely still listening to their conversation despite being on hold.
Shortly after Tral sat down to sing along with the corporate song (Laa, Laa, lala Laa Laa lala Laa, Laa, la)
The song cut out as Mr.Simic was about to sleak again yet Tral was still singing so he waited for him to stop first "Mr.Arave I am terribly sorry for this inconvenience it would seem one of the commanders had in fact been receiving bribes to help thin out the competition which we had a small file on but as of yet it hadn't caused a scene so it went unnoticed but I assure you that we will have the proper authorities handle the situation while his mind is searched for the evidence of all the parties involved. I hope incidence doesn't dissuade you or your friend from future participation."
Tral replies in a collected manner "well certainly not although my friend no longer wishes to enter the city understandably but I don't really have that option as I either fight or my sire gets disappointed with me... sooo I can assure you that I will be at my scheduled fight tomorrow."
