" Andrea,get up!"
My mom was calling out for me to wake up. I rubbed my eyes while trying to remember the unusual dream I had. It was as if someone was calling out to me but I just couldn't seem to get a hold of it. After awhile I gave up. It was only 7 am as I reluctantly got out of bed. I quickly brushed up and went downstairs. In the kitchen mom was preparing breakfast while cheerfully humming a song. When she noticed me a warm smile appeared on her face as she exclaimed "Good morning, sweetheart" then went back to cooking. She was very attractive just like everyone else in our city. She had her long light brown hair tied into a messy bun with some strands falling on to her delicate face. Even though her features were more on the masculine side with a strong jawline and refined cheek bones, she exuded feminine energy. Her hazel eyes were bright and gentle. She was wearing a pale green apron so she wouldn't get her favourite white dress dirty. She was one of the few single parents of this city as a lot of people here would be wise in choosing their life long partner.
I happen to live in the city of Fallacia- the perfect city, an utopia on earth or atleast that's what the media says. There are thousands of articles about how Fallacia is the best city. But only a handful of those reporters who write these articles come here. Even though Fallacia is called a city,it is independent and basically a small country with it's own residents, politics and policies. The reason why so few reporters and tourists come here despite the fact it's "so amazing" in Fallacia, is 'cause it's close to impossible to get a visa here. I don't know why it's so difficult but I heard people who visit here stay and never want to leave. "The kindest", "The most accepting", "The most diverse", "Best morals" are only a few of the titles that have been so graciously given to us. A perfect city with perfect people with perfect lives... But I seem to be the only one with a nagging feeling of something wrong as I've never heard anyone else complain even a word about it. Since I was little, I always tried to convince my family and friends that something was off but no one believed me and politely laughed it off, so I just stopped trying. I was lost in my own thoughts when I noticed breakfast was ready and served on the table. My mom had prepared fried vegetables and rice. Though it was only a simple dish it was very appetizing. After eating and chatting with me for some time, mom rushed out to go to her work as a journalist. She abruptly kissed me and left. The house quiet and the only thing I could hear was myself gobbling up the food. I tidied up, prepared my things and went out at exactly 8 am.
