Chapter 2: Chapter 1

Tuesday, September 8th, exactly 1 week after Error started coming to my school. Everyone knew she was an error from her long, black hair that covered half of her face most of the time. Her eyes were a dull blue color, although they were very pretty. She was short for a highschool girl, about 4"9. She never talked, or at least I've never heard her talk. She has a blank stare, as if she's always observing or thinking.

She creeps me and everyone else at school out. Around 11:45, I went to meet the guys at lunch and saw them plucking at Error's head. She sat there, motionless, as if they weren't doing or saying anything to her.

"You should just go back to whatever hole you crawled from, you little freak!" Kevin had said.

"Yeah, just go back to that stupid place you errors call a home!" Laine said.

The whole group stood there a moment, waiting for a response. When they didn't get one, Haden grabbed Error by her collar and held her up.

"You listen here, you little freak," he started. "When we talk to you, you respond. When anyone talks to you, you respond. You are lower than all of us, you hear me!?"

I coulsn't tell if Error was frightened or not. Her skin was the same pale it had been since I met her the week before. It's as if nothing about her ever changes. When Error didn't respond, Haden threw her down. "Errors like you aren't worth our time." Then he spit on her. The guys went back to our table, away from Error. As I walked over to them, I noticed Error get up, most likely to go wash off the spit.

I sat in my usual spot at the table, seat number 3. There were 6 people in my group. Haden, the tallest and strongest guy. He was mixed with black hair and dark brown eyes. Haden was exactly 6"5 and he loved to play sports. Haden was the oldest, 17 years old and a senior in 12th grade. Kevin, the second tallest yet somehow the weakest, was tan with black eyes and brownish hair. Kevin also happened to be the smartest in the group. He loved school and had a twin sister, Klara. 15 years going on 16 this year. He was ahead of everyone else with highest grades in the highest 12th grade classes. The principal already made it clear that he likely to pass high school within 3-4 months and even be offered a college scholarship. Kevin was also 6"1. Laine, third tallest with amazing blonde hair and bright blue eyes. He was 5"9 and loved to flirt. He was also 15, but he failed a grade, bringing him back to a freshman. Laine was my best friend of 6 years. Then there is Joseph. 4"11 with black hair and brown eyes. Joseph was also a flirt and was 15. I didn't really like him, but I was forced to deal with him because he's Laine's boyfriend. Then you got Gregory. Dumbest kid I've ever met. Doesn't even know what 1+1 is! 5"4 and 16. Then there is me! I'm the youngest being 15, just a few months behind Kevin. 5"5 with brownish hair and bright blue eyes. I used to have a crush on Laine, but then he met Joseph, so I eventually had to get over Laine. I also love music and making music. And although I despised those errors, the creepy little depressed dumb people, I wasn't a bully.

"That dumb error needs to go back to her original home. Original school. Everything," Joseph said.

"Agreed, babe," Laine said, then kissed him. I scoffed at them, but played it off as it being towards Error.

"I'm never gonna find out her name...so I'm just gonna call her Error," I said.

"I'd rather not name her at all, but you do you I guess," Haden said.

"What is an error again?" Gregory asked.

"Gregory, you need to keep up," Kevin said.

"Hey Ashton," Haden started. "You're the only one in the group who hasn't really said anything 'bad' about the error. Why's that?"

"I just...don't really enjoy talking bad about people...even if they're errors," I said.

Haden laughed. "What are you, an error in disguise?"

I got angry at that joke, so I got up with my food and walked away. I sat at the empty table, and to my surprise, Error came back and sat down. I forgot that Error sat at the enpty table, so I ignored the fact that she was there for a bit. Eventually, I noticed Error drawing. Her art was like none I had ever seen before. I said quietly to her," That's a nice drawing."

She looked up at me, but I turned away as if I never said anything.
