Chapter 11: Chapter 11

Vaughn Estrama's point of view

Besides the boisterous crowd of students, I found nothing in the north part of the school. I walked further and checked the entrance, wide hallway, and observed the first level classrooms from the outside many times that I even lost count of it. They had hidden their dark secrets so well that I was starting to get frustrated.

And I don't quite like it.

It's clear that there was no sign of dubious activities in this area. I strolled down on the south part of the school. The students were lesser compared to the opposite part of it. Silence dominated this place that I could even hear the chirping sounds of a bird from afar.

I continued to walk and reached a garden beside the school.

"Vaughn," somebody said.

A familiar voice reached my ears. I turned my body and saw Irvene. She sat on a chair and looked exhausted.

"I found something weird on the unnoticed part of the hallway, although I only saw a huge cylindrical tube on that room because a thick smoke started to release that made everything vague," Irvene said.

Finally. That's what I'm anticipating to happen. I turned my back on her and started to walk.

"Let's go," I said.

"

"You knew that the smoke was a signal that someone entered the room," Irvene uttered.

Of course, I knew.

"We're not going there, we'll find Sid and Meryll," I explained. We need to form a plan in a short period of time however, I looked at Irvene and noticed that she continued to breathe hard.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"I used an ability so nobody would find me running near that hallway but I shouldn't run out of stamina like this. I guess that the smoke had a side effect whoever inhales it," Irvene said.

So.. we needed to be extra careful of our actions or otherwise we would be instantly caught.

I couldn't let that happen.

I held her body and led her to sit. "W-what are you doing?" she asked.

Still asking huh?

"You should rest for a while. Meryll and Sid could wait," I said. I sat beside her and looked from afar. No one talked until we heard some noises and two human figures appeared in front of us.

"Finally found you!" Sid talked. Noisy as ever. His hand held a paper bag and his mouth is stuffed with a bread.

"Vaughn, look at Sid, he spends his time eating instead of doing his work," Meryll said. Her arms were crossed and she looked at Sid annoyingly while Sid grunted.

"Hey! I had finished my work before I decided to eat," Sid said.

They are starting up a fight again.

"Stop, you two," I said.

"Anyway, what are you doing here alone together?" Sid asked. He looked at us in a meaningful or particularly, a teasing manner. He really didn't fail to annoy me.

"Sid!" Irvene shouted.

I sighed heavily. "Anyway, we are not in the right place to talk. The afternoon classes ended up already therefore, it's best if we talk about our plans in the castle and starting tomorrow, we would attend morning classes too so wake up early," I said.

Afterward, we went to the castle and rested on our own respective rooms before we talk about our plan. It's not only Irvene who owned a huge, elegant room in this castle. When we took our special classes, Sid, Meryll and I started to live a luxurious life here. Although I experienced that kind of life with my father, I rather spend my time here than in his house.

I found comfort here.

The left side of my room is filled with different kinds of weapon. Sword, wand, bow and arrow, scythe and more kinds of it. The undeniable truth is that I do not specialize in a particular class and that took the attention of the former ruler.

I could do what all of the classes could but I experienced a lot of hardships before I became what I am now. Being an expert in all those fields aren't easy. It takes a lot of time and I must say that I achieved a great success though I knew I still have a lot to learn.

The comfortable bed made me sleepy. I yawned. Taking a nap would do after this tiring day. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

***

A loud knock on the door of my room awakenend me from my humble sleep.

"Vaughn!" Sid said.

I stood up and opened it before he would destroy my room's door.

"What?" I said.

"I thought we're going to talk something important? You slept for so long and if you didn't notice, it's already four in the morning," Sid explained.

I turned my head and looked at the clock. I really slept for a long time.

"Are you all awake?" I asked.

Sid nodded. "Yes, and that's why I came here, knocking on your door," he said.

"You can go downstairs. I'll fix myself first," I said.

"Okay," Sid answered.

I closed the door and took a bath. I dressed on a new set of uniform and went outside. I found them in the dining room together with the Ruler Mavien, Ruler's Adviser Maven and Adelaine. I immediately greeted them.

"Good morning too, Vaughn," Adviser Adelaine greeted me back.

While the Ruler and his twin nodded. I sat on the chair and started eating. They asked us about the events that happened and said that we found some clues and is currently working on it.

After that, we headed to Irvene's room and I talked about the incident about Irvene.

"So that's what happened. Though, I didn't found anything strange on the west part of the school except that I didn't have the chance to observe the faculty, headmaster's office and some rooms that the students weren't authorized to enter. There might be some spells so I didn't go. Maybe, I could get inside during the night," Meryll said.

"I didn't found some suspicious places except that there were students that were fighting outside the east part. I even heard that there were lost students! The east part is quite a ruckus place," Sid said.

We should observe the south and west part more.

"We'll stop observing the school for a few days, but keep an eye to the people."

"The student council president, I saw him while I'm on the garden and I'm not sure if he saw me on that unnoticed hallway though," Irvene said.

"I saw him on the west part too. He even greeted me," Meryll followed.

"I saw him too although he's with the other members of the student council with a lot of papers on their hands," Sid said.

"He's everywhere," Irvene said.

I didn't saw him on the north part though.

"Maybe that's because he's a school president and had a lot of things on his shoulders?" Irvene asked.

"We'll know about that in the future," I said.

If he's an enemy or not.
