Chapter 13: Family

Dinner. They now gathered around the pool.

Cassie watches amusingly at Daichi, who swam like a professional athlete. He has been swimming back and forth in the pool.

They've decided to eat outdoors while Uncle Jing grills the giant fish he bought from his friends that he freshly caught.

"Hey, Rudolf... Why don't you stop playing and jump off here in the pool? You were ruining your eyes, staring at the computer screen all day."

"Shut up, Daichi! Don't disturb me!"

In times like this, you can't talk to him properly. He is capable of doing his job fast and perfectly. As a reward, don't try to talk to him while he is at his games.

"Ah! You damn brats! Who do you think you are to use cheats on me? I'll show you who's the king of cheats!" he scorns in front of his laptop.

Shun, who was seated next to him, sighed. He notices Cassie staring intently at what Rudolf is playing.

"Don't try to play that game. Just concentrate on your study," Shun advised her.

"Ah, no! I think that game is like what my classmates are playing," she replied. "But Mr. Rudolf is amazing," she then praised him.

Hearing this, Rudolf smirks. But Daichi got jealous that Cassie praised him for being a Gamer Genius. Out of impulse, Daichi gathers his strength and splashes the pool water toward Rudolf.

The pool water drops a considerable amount into the laptop. Not only that, Shun, who is currently browsing the Finance News on his Tablet, also receives an amount of pool water, landing on his shirt and pants. Rudolf's mouth dropped open, and his eyes widened in shock as the computer turned off.

Cassie saw the water coming, so she quickly turned around, only with her back getting soaked.

"Daichi! You--" Rudolf, now shaking in anger. He was in the middle of the Global Tournament and defending his title as Rank 1. He put away his laptop and marched towards the pool.

"I will kill you if I ranked number 2 tonight!"

After screaming this, Rudolf jumped off the pool and chased Daichi around the pool.

"I am sorry! Boss! Forgive me! AHH..." Rudolf got a hold of him and tried to drown him.

She was stunned, Cassie staring at the two adults acting like little kids in the pool. But she cannot deny the worries registered on her face worrying that Rudolf seems to drown Daichi for real.

Shun glances at her. "Don't mind those two. They are childish, so ignore them," said Shun wiping his Tab screen, trying to dry it out.

"Oh," Cassie rushes to get some table napkins and gives them to Shun. He smiled and thanked her.

Shun's bodyguards, who scattered every corner, joined them laughing. Below the pool, two men are still chasing around. She takes a glimpse secretly towards her Master. Cassie contemplates...

'Is this how he treated his employees to gain their trust and loyalty?'

Everyone just acted casually around their boss. And Shun just ignored his surroundings. He does not even get angry when Daichi splashes the pool water.

Cassie began to think about how impressive Shun is... to those who don't know him, the first impression he gives is a not an approachable person. But to those close to him, and he allowed to see his other self, this is him. Not the boss, but an ordinary person who hangs out with his friends like a family.

Dinner is served. On the long table where Auntie Ling arranged the dishes she and her husband prepared, including the crabs and the grilled fish by Uncle Jing; now, they began digging the food.

Shun is seated and eating quietly at the corner of the table. On his right side is Cassie, who enjoys watching the adults in the riot over the table. They were loud while eating.

Daichi and Rudolf are still not over yet... Daichi is still crying for forgiveness from Rudolf. Although Cassie went inside to get a hair blower and tried to dry out the laptop keyboard and turn it on again, Rudolf defeated and placed rank number 2 on his Global Tournament in that online game he's addicted to.

Rudolf still can't forgive Daichi. After all, he had no plan to swim. However, he was forced to jump out of the pool. Now, he's counting Daichi's mistakes toward him.

Cassie giggles, watching them. When does this house full of laughter once? It seems, just those times, her parents are still alive, and their neighborhood will come over and bring food for them to eat together.

She can't avoid feeling the pain from those happy memories. But that was in the past now. Her parents stayed in her heart, and she knew they wished her to cheer up and continue living.

She believes there are still people that would love her and need her. She secretly wiped the tear that had escaped from her right eye. She regains her emotion and watches amusingly at Daichi, pestering Rudolf.

Cassie did not notice that Shun was observing her the whole time so that tear did not hide from him. He thought she must be missing her family.
