Cassie did not move until the car disappeared from her sight. And before she could turn around, someone jumped on her.
"Miss Young! How dare you!" A girl the same as her age grabbed her shoulder to face each other. "Aren't we besties!?"
Cassie sighed. She stared at Joanna's face, which gave her a funny expression as usual.
"What's the matter? Aren't you going home?" she asked her.
Joanna replied, "Look, I just hold myself not asking you this morning because the whole class is already fussing about it, but seeing that a while ago? I deserved an explanation, Miss Young!"
Cassie stunningly pinches Joanna's cheeks, then giggles, "I know you are interested too."
She began walking back to their classroom, and Joanna was tailing her; she glanced at her. Joanna had been her best friend since Prep school, so she knew everything about what was going on in her life. She had already planned to tell her but was waiting for the best time.
They were now seated at their desks while Joanna was before her. It was noon; gladly, the island was filled with trees that gave them cool air. The curtain of their classroom was dancing from the wind, so Joanna tied them up. Cassie then opened the lunch box, surprised by what was inside. From their classroom, they could have a full view of the blue sea... From their classroom, they could have a full view of the blue sea...
How could she finish all these? She inhales them and smells delicious. She doesn't know that Auntie Ling could cook this kind of cuisine.
"Wow! That looks yummy!" Joanna exclaimed happily, staring at the food. She looked starving; she was known for an appetite anyway. "Now, Miss Young, you can begin confessing."
Joanna copied their Math teacher, gesturing like she was adjusting her invincible reading glasses. Pfft. She chuckles. Cassie knows that she can't get away if she takes longer not to share anything. She then told Joanna what happened yesterday, and Joanna listened intently without blinking an eye.
"I don't know where Aunt Lydia is right now," is her last words, then she sighed.
"In my perspective, it is good news if they are now dead," Joanna slams her desk. She rearranged them to create a table, for they faced each other.
"Why did you and Auntie Ling think the same?" Cassie is still a bit surprised every time she hears these cursing words...
She may now know why they felt that way towards her aunt Lydia as she was truly maltreated. However, she still doesn't feel any grudge toward her. She witnessed how they seemed to live in luxury, but she didn't care because she was not materialistic. The only fact is that the money they have been spending on those things is the crime they committed wrong to her. Because she had now lost everything, she sighed.
"What do you plan to do now? If you like to, we can adopt you," Joanna pats her left shoulder. She sounds joking, but she knows Joanna is sincere in her words.
"You don't need to worry about me. I got a job to stay at the villa," she answered.
"What kind of job? Have you not realized it? That all of your companions in that house were men?" Joanna asked hysterically.
Cassie just now has a careful thought about it. From now on, she will live under the same roof: not only her Master but also Mr. Daichi, Mr. Rudolf, Mr. Jing, and the other men in black suits.
Joanna grabs both of her shoulders. "But they look good people," she replies to Joanna. "Besides, Auntie Ling likes them very much, so I am sure they are decent men."
"If you think so, let me know immediately if they did something improper."
"What do you mean about improper?" she asked innocently. "Surely they will not put me in hard labor, right?"
"You are just too innocent, Miss Young. I have to become your knight in shining, sexy armor." Joanna gestured a fist.
She let out a laugh. "No. You are just watching too much Chinese and Korean drama."
"What's wrong with that?"
"Alright, the food is getting cold," she said afterward. She is really grateful to have her best friend, like Joanna, and she's the first person always there for her.
She had four younger siblings she beat up because of their mischief. Well, it must be tough dealing with four mischievous brothers every day. Yet, Joanna never forgets to stick her nose to her issues. She is always thoughtful and cares about herself. Yes, my sister's attention is like love. Cassie smiled.
"Ah, finally! I thought we would just watch the food for the whole lunch break!" Joanna growled, and they both laughed.
The food was really finely wrapped. It also includes a pair of spoons, a fork, and a chopstick. Cassie picks up the chopsticks, and Joanna uses the pork, which she right away stuffs the meat in her mouth.
She was stunned, watching Joanna with a full mouth. After having a taste, they both sign in satisfaction. The food was cooked very well and tasted so very good, and they hadn't eaten any food this tasty. The ingredients are typical meat and spices found on the island, but how does the dish turn out this good?
"Wow. Is Auntie Ling who makes them? When did she learn to cook this kind of dish?" Joanna asked between her full mouth.
They both know that Auntie Ling cooks very well, but Cassie wondered; the food tasted familiar. Where did she eat this kind of cuisine before?
"I think I already tried these dishes..." she told Joanna.
"Really?" Joanna doesn't stop filling her mouth. "Wow, even this vegetable," she praises.
Cassie keeps thinking. Could it be possible? It looks like either Mr. Rudolf or Mr. Daichi cooks these foods. "Ah, that's right!" Cassie then remembered. "These are French cuisine!"
"Wow, really? Are you saying I am eating international food?" Joanna asked like she didn't care how famous they were as long as she could eat something now!
Besides, how would she know? She has just lived on this island all her life and has no idea about classy cuisines.
"Yes. This cuisine is just taught in France. There is an academy where only the best cooks can graduate. I heard they are very strict. After a week from pre-enrolling, they will not accept you into the academy when you still can't learn the dish they give you."
"What? I don't understand," Joanna murmurs.
Cassie continues, "They will teach you one dish, then you have to perfect it in one week. For all the newly created dishes in that academy, you must apply for a license to use that cuisine, like in restaurant menus. I heard only five stars could afford them."
"Ah, no wonder this tastes good. I thought I was dead already because I felt like I was in heaven."
She stares at Joanna, and she really looks like she is enjoying the food a lot. She shook her head, then continued eating before Joanna left nothing for her and finished everything. She needs to ask Auntie Ling, who makes these dishes, to thank him later.
I'll explain a little about the license thing... lol
For example, the hotel hired this chef graduated from that academy, and they wanted to use the special dishes they'd learned. The chef with the help of the hotel, will make a contract to the academy to get the license to use that dish and added in the hotel's menu for certain time. (which expensive of course). That's the rule I created. lol,,
Thank you for reading! muahh!
