" Layla, are you nervous?" Allen asked, as concern flashes in his eyes. Fred takes a glance towards her, understanding about what concerned her the most; the person she'll face later on.
" I'll lie if I said no. Is he inside? He should be at the company at this hour, no?" Layla remembers that Adrian said something about a meeting with an important shareholder of his company. The shareholder wants to retire soon as his health worsening through the years.
" He is, but the meeting ended earlier. He knows about you coming home, so he went back first. Also, Evan, his nephew waiting for you." Allen put his hands into his trouser's pockets. His blond hair swaying softly from the blew of wind.
Evan...this name keeps been mentioned by Adrian since she has woken up. This boy is Adrian's only male nephew in the Chang Family. A super genius! Before she went into a coma, Layla once becomes his close bodyguard. Then, she married into Chang Family right after months of service.
Um, she couldn't remember that marriage part. She felt humbled and uncomfortable with this marriage to a wealthy family. Her family come from a middle class as Mark owned a small bookshop and Jenny works as a nurse. Remembering Mark and Jenny, sadness filled her heart and mind.
They were no longer be here...
Soon, they arrived at the big mahogany door. Before Allen's finger touched the bell, the door opened from inside. An old butler startled at the guests his Master expecting this evening.
" Young Madame, welcome home!" the butler choked sobs, calling her affectionately. His smiles brimmed with joy and happiness. She's awake! She's back!
Feeling uncomfortable at the old butler's gentle, yet teary eyes, Layla smiles awkwardly.
" Um, hello." She offered a greeting to the old man.
" Yes, yes. Nice to see you again, Madame. It's been a while. Please come in. Master arrived earlier," the butler bowed taking a step back to open the path for the guests. After closing the door, he went first to guide them to the guestroom.
Upon arriving at the 'meeting' place, they saw the man sat up from his seat. Adrian went forward and Layla fell into his arms.
" Welcome back, love. I miss you so much," He whispered. The joy of seeing her again erupted inside him. He almost couldn't control himself from carrying her to their room and kiss her endlessly.
Layla's body turned stiff. She couldn't believe this man hugging her so openly, as if the only people in the house was them alone.
" Hey, what are you doing? Let me go." She struggles to escape the warm embrace. Her face was so red as tomatoes. The shameless man really getting to her nerve lately. She had an urge to kick him in the gut!
" No. I won't let you go. I can't lose you again." Adrian tightens his arms around her. He wishes to merge her into his body, becomes one and forever together.
Layla's eyes turn cold. Her fist tightened. This man testing her patient. If not thinking about this place is his own territory, this man already been buried seven feet underground!
" We need to talk." She spoke coldly. Allen and Fred alarmed at her sudden changing attitude. This familiar atmosphere...they take a look at the woman in Adrian's arms.
Adrian's hands shake. He looked down at the woman. Her eyes dimmed as no emotion was present in those orbs. She stared coldly, ready to fight him if needed. Adrian sighed, letting her go. Layla steps back, standing five meters away from him. Her hands crossed behind her back as she stood in military-like standing. Her eyes straight up to an empty space, ignoring the hurtful eyes of the man.
" I need your time to discuss some matter. In private...please." She glances at Adrian, giving him some face by adding 'please' at the back of her words.
Adrian pinches un between his eyebrows, " In my study. Come," Adrian walked to the stairs, ready to climb up, but he turned back to the butler.
" Bring the freshmen to my study. Lead the two of them to the dining hall. Ready the food..."
" No need. It won't be long, 15 minutes only." Layla interrupted. She looks at Allen and Fred, signalling them to went outside. Adrian frowned, waving his hand and went upstairs.
Looking at the lonely back, Layla sighed in her heart. She hardened her heart.
'This is for his own good. I'm not staying here to be caged like a bird. This is not my world.' Layla follows up. She saw him standing in the middle of the hallway, waiting for her.
" Follow me," he spoke. But, it's a bit wrong. His tone sounds indifferent and cold. She felt a pang deep down in her heart. She nodded and follow him.
Minutes later, they arrived. The place is hidden deep into the hall. If not following him, she surely gets lost.
They went inside the room. She stunned at the sight of the study room. It's big and a bit cold. Just like its owner.
Adrian went to the left side, sitting on the sofa. However, Layla chose to stand. Adrian frowned.
" Sit."
Silent.
" Let's be straight. I..."
" SIT DOWN."
Silent.
" Divorce me."
Yet, another silent. This time, its longer than before.
" I dare you to say that again." His anger rises like a tide. He sat up, walking forward in a threatening manner.
Layla's body shakes, feeling colder and colder, " I said, divorce...!"
She stopped.
No, Adrian made his move. He grabbed her hand before pushing her to the cold wall. He sandwiching her body in between the wall, catching her by surprise.
" What the...!?" Her words cut off.
Adrian smashes his lips on hers. Layla's eyes widened as she started struggling to escape.
