Chapter 14: CH14 ‘Child, Do You Have A Burning Will’

"What do you mean?" Walters face became ugly. His amber eyes began to look darker, almost black.

His muscles flexed and he turned to shout at another scout, telling him to get Collin.

"Prince, is what you're saying true?" Walter's face calmed to a smolder. His voice still carried his lingering fear.

"I'm afraid so, that's why we need to move now!" Alodar motioned for Walter to hurry up.

"Of course my prince; I'll get right on it," Walter declared as he shot up from his seat and started barking commands at his men.

"Where's Unklair Farncitte?" Lyner questioned his subordinate blankly, as he came in to report.

"U-umm... s-sir, we may have a p-problem," Farncitte stuttered our his shaking mouth.

"Spit it out Farncitte, I don't have all day," Lyner threatened.

Farncitte seemed to become even more pale. He almost dropped his pile of papers, but managed to just about hold on to them. His shaking legs blurred because of his fear.

"Unklair's S-second Life S-stone has split in tw-two... he's most likely d-died and is now inhabiting a-a stray wolf's b-body."

Farncitte's face lowered and he was prepared for his long journey to hell. Silence grew in the room, with nothing happening.

After an awkward minute or two Lyner replied with "Why are you still here; shouldn't you be outside waiting for whoever killed Unklair or at least searching for his new body?" Lyner's eyes showcased a certain coldness that came with years of experience at death's door.

"Y-Yes sir, right a-away!" Farncitte's reply came almost immediate. He bolted out the room, almost screaming in terror.

The guards who were now keeping watch over Lyner's quarters were wondering things such as, "What's wrong with him" or "I'm glad I'm not him!"

Farncitte looked like he felt those fazes. Eventually, he covered himself with the front of his tunic and his long golden blonde hair covered his eyes.

Alodar was traveling with Walter through the dense forest.

'Why does this forest have to be so dense?' Alodar was complaining inwardly, but he forgot to remember that's psycho god can hear every thought he has and will ever have.

{This 'forest' is a grand forest called the Ghavin Jaun Forest! It was the birth place of a hero named Ghavin Jaun who found a hidden treasure and fought within the Nephunn War, a war over which elven race is superior; the dark elves or the elemental elves, about 200 years ago! He was the one who found the secret location of the enemies general, Skalaris Sunhein! He travelled for three days and three nights without stop on foot to deliver it to Coraith Cristfein! He was honored as a hero to the elves and why they still haven't waged war on us already!}

'Such a background for a little forest,' thought Alodar slightly gloomily. He did not see his prospects of getting out of this jam alive quite well.

Alodar was about to move on when he heard a noise.

[Host's 'Battle Instinct' assist has cancelled itself due to the spells time limit]

This revelation did not seem to go over well with Alodar.

'What I'm the world is this?!'

{Ah! Yes! Yes! The effect has worn off!}

'What effect,' asked Alodar.

{When crossing over through worlds, to help the transmigrator survive, they are equipped with a natural gift for an extended period of time! Eventually that effect will wear off!}

'So I'm not that naturally gifted?' Alodar was quite upset because he felt so strong when he knew exactly what to do and not getting freaked out by the slightest mention of blood.

{NO! Why would you think that?! You've only lived in this savage world for about seven and a half years! You wouldn't be as strong as someone who's lived here for twenty to thirty years!}

Alodar was crestfallen and he lagged behind Walter even though Walter was carrying a heavier load, something about 'a prince should never do work a servant can do.'

The leaves scraped Alodar's hands and legs. His hair was also roughed up around its edges.

Sweat trickled down Alodar face and covered his eye. He stopped and removed it by rubbing his eye.

When his eyes began to focus again and zoom in on a wolf menacingly growling at Alodar.

Now this wolf's fur was not silver but a more dirty gray color that matched its surroundings.

The beast walked up to Alodar and spoke with a raspy voice.

"Little brat, it's not so easy to kill an infernal werewolf!" The wolf's eyes became bloodshot and his fur bacame a pitch black with hellfire coating it. The fire seemed to dance on its fur, looking only for its next partner; or next victim.

The beasts claws grew twice their original size and his teeth grew no more but became sharp.

The beast seemed familiar and now Alodar pit the pieces together.

"Unklair Wulphir!" Alodar's face tensed because he couldn't believe his own claim, but it made too much sense.

Alodar drew his sword and got into his best stance.

He felt a little off and assumed it was him losing his battle instinct skill. Without it, Alodar felt incomplete.

The beast grinned and lunged at Alodar. He didn't know what to do; he learned what hopelessness felt like army that moment.

Also at that moment, Alodar realized that he wax the only thing between Walter and Unklair.

Just like the beast, Alodar lunged forward; ready to kill.

The first clash Alodar fell back paralyzed. He was scared of the wolf; it looked as if it came out of hell itself( Au: and it sure did!).

Alodar felt fear take over. He stood with what little strength he had left and gripped Timeless tighter.

This was going to be the final stand; the true fight; a hero's tragic ending if he didn't win.

'I've got this! All I need is willpower! A willpower that burns brighter than the sun! A... a Burning Will.'

The enlightenment hit Alodar so hard, he stopped moving all together.

{Now the true test... child, do you have a burning will?
