Kisses like Wine
The scent of her arousal smacked him like a ton of bricks. His lips were so close he could feel her breath and hear her heart race. He wasn't aware of moving in but when her lips contacted his, the world faded away.
Lightening jolted through her body as their lips touched. Life was only this moment, this kiss. The roar of her heart beating rapidly deafened her to anything outside the car. Suddenly it stopped. Her lips felt swollen and she raised her fingers to touch them. The world slowly returned with the sounds of an argument.
"What in the hell are you doing?" Rock Wolf, River's second in command and younger brother demanded.
"Buckling her seatbelt." River answered, with an uncharacteristic smile. The ice cold CEO was known for his grim appearance.
"With your mouth?" Rock growled.
"It's not your business." River pushed past them and slipped into the driver's seat.
As the silver convertible pulled away, Rock looked at Lu Yu Lan. "Yulan ge ge, follow them. I fear my brother has lost his mind."
Yu nodded and shifted into a black wolf, racing after the car. The picnic was over. The Wolf pack began to clean up.
In the car, Crysti watched River. "I'm really ok. The hospital isn't necessary."
He grinned. "Good."
She became nervous as he passed the exit for the hospital. "Ummmm, you passed the turn off."
"Did you want to go to the hospital?" He arched a brow as he glanced over at her.
"Not really." She licked her lips. His kiss had left her feeling drunk.
"Then relax. I won't hurt you. Consider this a Birthday gift from me." He offered a smile and turned off the highway on to a dirt road. The car stopped at a log cabin near the lake. "Come on." He opened her door and helped her out.
Stepping out of the car, Crysti looked around and inhaled deeply. "This place is incredible."
Rock put his hand on the small of her back and led her inside the cabin. "This is my personal retreat. You are welcome here anytime."
Crysti looked around and chuckled. At first she thought it might be a bachelor's love nest. Looking around she could tell no woman had been here before her. The whole place was masculine. Solid wood furniture, dark colors and no pictures were the first things to greet you. Stopping in the kitchen, she moved to the sink and looked out the window. "Oh... wow. Did you plant those?"
He followed her gaze out the window to the wild flowers. "Yes."
She felt his heat as he stood behind her. How am I supposed to think with him so close? The scent of him filled her nostrils creating a warm sensation between her legs. I thought that part of me died. Perhaps it has been too long? The kiss was just a fluke.... right?
A growl rumbled in his chest as her arousal scent hit him. Moving her auburn hair aside, he began with soft kisses on her neck. His hands slid around her, pulling her to him closer.
"Sweet Luna!" Crysti moaned as he teased her neck. Her brain told her to stop this. Her body pressed against him. The haze of pleasure clouded her judgement and she surrendered to him. Reaching up, she tugged his hair and gasped as his teeth sank into her flesh.
Both of them were locked in an embrace when the door slammed open and a black wolf charged them. The silver bubble surrounding them prevented Yu from interrupting. He shifted to his human form and cleared his throat. The magic settled on the pair. Crysti now glowed as a marked mate of the Alpha.
"Sir! This is rather unusual." Lu Yulin watched them.
"Of course it is, Yu. I only have one mate." River growled wanting the other man to leave.
"Perhaps Mr. Wolf should discuss this with the Council?" Yulin bowed respectfully.
"Mate?" Crysti snapped out of the lust induced haze. "Mr. Wolf, we just met." Her hand went to the invisible mark on her neck. It still tingled.
River grinned and shrugged. "I don't make the rules. You are my mate. I can't have anyone else." Wolves mate for life, he kept to himself.
"You must be joking." She tried to deny the truth but the thought of him with another woman made her want to shred the imaginary woman into ribbons.
"I never joke. I won't force you but ... I intend to keep you." River wanted to make her his own. He wanted to bite her and make her like him. Sighing, he led her back to the car. "How about dinner, tomorrow night. I will pick you up at 7." It was a statement not a question.
Numb, Crysti stared at her hands as the silver car raced towards her tiny apartment. Yulin chaperoned them on the return trip. As she opened the door to her home, she shook her head. "What a crazy birthday..."
