Chapter 51: Reminder

Queen sat on the sofa and read the book Quince was reading before.

'Time management' was the title on the book.

'Does that mean he has no time for stuff?' Queen mused and began reading the book.

She continued flipping the pages and absorbed the contents in it.

Rule 1: Prioritize your tasks: Do what's most urgent and important to you.

'Mm doing that at the moment.' Queen thought and read the other rule.

Rule 2: Never spend your time worrying about other tasks. Just do the one you already chose.

'Not worrying here.' Queen replied in her mind. She turned to the next page and immediately stopped.

She couldn't tear her eyes away from the thing she saw, "Isn't this...."

Quince's side:

Quince just finished his shower and put on his casual clothes worn at home. He wore a black premium cotton shirt and white long pants that cost a few hundred thousand.

He dried his hair and thought of the woman sitting below. Now that he felt better, his suspicious nature was finally back once more.

That woman created a plan and deliberately left misleading clues on his cruise. True that she helped clear it up but it wouldn't happen if she didn't start it.

Thinking about her personality, she wouldn't have gotten voluntarily involved in assisting him. She was there to prank him after all.

He finally managed to obtain some information about her and saw that she didn't have much guy friends and that she tend to steer away from men in general. In addition she told him that she didn't know about him so it wasn't the reason she avoided those men. She just doesn't like them in general.

'Then why?' Quince couldn't help wondering why she chose to assist him that night. Knowing her, she would probably have tried to stir up other problems instead of aiding him but she didn't.

It showed that she changed her mind abruptly so a lot of inconsistencies were in the 'murder' she planned.

So why would she suddenly do that?

Quince wondered and his eyes darkened as he remembered her daze look when she look at him sometime. It was like she was looking at someone else through him. The exact same expression as 'that person.'

"What secret do you possibly have? And what else are you planning to do?" Quince murmured softly. After the racket she created, he knew he couldn't trust her.

He tried convincing himself but it wasn't working. He didn't understand why but his conscience and heart seemed to trust her inexplicably.

Quince was in a bad mood as he walked down the stairs. He saw a caramel head sitting on the sofa, her head buried in something.

Curious to know what she was looking at, he walked softly even though he didn't need to as the carpet on the floor would cancel the noise out.

He bend his head down and saw the thing she held in her hand. He immediately snatched it away from her.

"What...!!!" Queen yelled and turned to look behind her. Her hair splayed out due to her quick movement.

"Give it back to me!!" Queen bounced up from the sofa and tried to snatch the picture from Quince's hand.

"Where did you get this?" Quince asked as his body radiated a dangerous aura.

"From your book. Now give it back!" Queen jumped up and down and tried to get the picture back. Quince just held it high above her head and moved occasionally to move it out of her grasp.

"It's not yours." Quince said icily. Quince was complaining in his heart. He should have known his mother would pull this kind of stuff.

The book was given to him by his mother. It was her way of complaining that he had no time for her. She also inserted a picture of him when he was a child, about 5 years old, in the book.

In the picture, Quince looked absolutely adorable as he was smiling brightly and his dimples were completely visible. He wore a formal suit with necktie and a black top hat on his head.

His mother was indirectly comparing his cuteness when he was younger and his attitude at the moment. She was definitely displeased.

"I found it! So it's mine now!" Queen complained as she continued jumping. But not for long as her foot wasn't 100% healed yet because she neglected the ointment.

"Owww" she suddenly yelled out and bend down to clutch her foot.

"What's wrong? Isn't your foot alright yet?" Quince asked as he immediately bend down and pulled her foot over on his lap.

Queen used that moment to snatch the picture from his hand and stuffed it in her shirt. Needless to say, Quince was incredibly shocked by her behavior.

"You...." He didn't know what to say as his mind still couldn't believe her shameless action.

"What are you doing?! My foot hurts you know!" Queen ignored him and immediately focused on her foot, acting as if nothing happened.

Quince let out a long sigh before carrying her princess style to the sofa.

"Hey!! Hey!! I can walk! You just gotta get me medicine! Hey! Let me dow...!!" Queen started complaining as Quince walked her to the sofa.

Before she could finish her rant however, Quince unceremoniously tossed her on the sofa.

"Behave." He said icily before walking away.

Chapter 52: Television series

"Do it gentler!" Queen said softly.

"I'm trying." Quince replied.

"It hurts!" Queen whimpered out.

"Hold on for a bit more, it's going to be alright." Quince tried to console her.

"Isn't it enough, I can barely move!" Queen complained without much strength.

"Just endure it a bit more." Quince said softly as he continued massaging her injured foot.

Right now Quince was sitting on the floor as he massaged Queen's foot. It almost healed but since she got the injury at the same spot, it became worse.

Earlier Quince walked away to get the first aid kit and had been massaging her ever since, much to Queen's frustration.

"I'm really alright now Quince." Queen said with tears threatening to spill from her eyes. He swore by his massage method but damn does it hurt!

"2 minutes and it'll be done. If you don't let me do this, you will take almost 7 days to heal instead of 3." Quince said as he continued rubbing her foot.

"Really?" Queen said in a sad voice causing Quince to look up at her. The sight he saw nearly made his heart drop as she looked so desolate like an injured bunny.

Quince was instantly reminded that she was just a little girl and felt his previous irritation completely vanish.

"I promise." He said with a gentle smile on his face, leaving Queen in a daze.

"How do you even know this?" Queen asked after she recovered. Her cat's smile was too cute, she forgot about her pain for a moment.

"One of the various skills taught to young masters of the Estplanadas family." Quince replied shortly and got up to put the first aid kit back at the original place.

"Just how many things do you have to study?" Queen asked as soon as Quince sat on the sofa.

The distance between them could fit at least 2 people in between.

Quince leaned back on the sofa and replied,"Languages, self defense, first aid, dancing, musical instruments..." Quince suddenly trailed off, annoying Queen who was listening intently.

"And?" She prodded and waited for his reply. Quince saw her impatience and almost smiled at her cute expression.

"What about you?" Quince asked instead. "What does the sole heir of the Vancroft family got to learn?"

"Hmmm same as you I guess but other activities like sewing, ornament, jewelries training and various feminine activities were added." Queen replied grimacing at the memory.

This time Quince did smile as he said, "I take it that you didn't like those activities?"

"Like? I hate it! They were so bloody annoying! 'Oh no Miss Vancroft!" Queen suddenly raised her voice higher, trying her best to imitate her strict instructor, "'That was completely unacceptable. Kindly redo the task.'"

Queen immediately rolled her eyes in frustration after telling Quince about it.

Quince couldn't help chuckling at her interesting expressions as she tried to portray her experience to him. Queen looked at him, slightly startled at the sound, but soon felt herself smiling in reply to his joy.

She was reminded once more of how they laughed together a long time ago.

Not wanting to end the harmonious atmosphere, Queen immediately shifted closer to Quince before whispering,"You can tell me if you hated those tasks too, I promise I won't ruin your image or inform your fan club."

Quince abruptly stopped chuckling and looked at her with a teasing glint in his eyes. "You mean, you would announce my secret to the world?"

"I just said I won't!" She looked so serious as she tried to convince him to believe her, he couldn't help chucking once more.

Queen pouted her lips in annoyance when she saw that action of his. She crossed her arms and complained. "You don't believe me!"

"You do realize Miss Vancroft, that you are anything but trustable at this moment?" Quince moved his face closer to hers as he uttered those words.

"What do you mean?" Queen stared at him, with fire burning in her eyes.

"The stunt you pulled at the cruise is still very fresh in my mind." Quince replied.

"That was a test!" Queen said exasperated at this whole situation.

"Regardless, it is the truth that you attempted to cause havoc and confusion on the cruise, wasting time and valuable resources." Quince moved his face away from hers and took the documents on the side table to read instead.

"What...!!!" Queen couldn't help huffing at how unfair he was being. She decided to ignore him and grabbed the remote to open the television instead.

She changed the channels in anger but stopped at one with a disgusted expression on her face.

There was a particularly dramatic soap opera on called, 'Snow love.' The reason Queen knew about it was because her mother loved watching it and 'forced' her to watch it as well.

It was a sweet romance between a poor girl and a rich guy trying to make things work. The girl was thrown into various ridiculous situation and the guy was the one that protected her every time. It was completely cheesy, uncreative and lame.

Queen absolutely hated the series and would complain about it every time. Yet, she never misses an episode making her mother laugh in secret at her contradictory behavior.

Queen started watching the series and was completely absorbed in it within no time.

Quince whom was pretending to read the documents secretly glanced at the girl beside him as she watched the drama.

She had so many expressions ranging from disgust, anger, happiness and so on as she watched the television.

As Queen watched the series, Quince continued watching her instead. Until suddenly, she turned to face him.

She had a very weird expression on her face but soon, determination flashed in her eyes and she pushed her face towards his.

Quince was off guard and was completely unprepared as she suddenly kissed him!
