Chapter 29: STD poison

"Well, that is strange indeed." Queen murmured.

"What about the meetings with clients? Or the various steps of the project?" Quince asked.

"It's always been only 4 since it was never necessary for all of them to show up." One replied.

"And there have been no complaints in regards to this?" Queen asked incredulously.

"None." One replied.

"Oh my this is indeed strange, don't you think?" Queen asked cheerfully as she turned to look at Quince.

"What are the names and positions of those that usually hang out together?" Quince asked.

"Mr.Noah is the leader, Mr.Dake is the vice leader. As for Mr.Bernard our victim, he is the senior engineer, and Mr.Albert and Mr.Stuart are the 2 junior engineers in the team. The difference is that, Mr.Albert has over 10 years of experience but Mr.Stuart does not." One pauses before continuing.

"Usually Mr. Noah is the lone wolf while Mr.Dake stays with Mr.Bernard. As for Mr.Albert, he usually hangs out with Mr.Stuart." One said.

"Mr.Noah is the lone wolf? Are you sure? He seems so social." Queen asked surprised by the information.

"Yes Miss, he claims that the energy around disturbs his work mode so he isolated himself and only let loose once the project is over and done with." One confirmed.

"What a strange working habit." Queen said.

"Get the pattern of the people that usually stay together. Find out who is the one that is usually missing from the gatherings." Quince ordered.

"Yes sir!" One accepted the command before walking out.

"Not very competent is he?" Queen commented as soon as One left. He had to be ordered again and again to go get the information.

"He was trained in the military. He will not question my orders nor will he do what he was not commanded" Quince answered simply.

"Military? Now what does a businessman like you got to do with the military?" Queen asked, curiosity flashing in her eyes.

Quince chose to ignore her question and instead said,"You still did not give me the complete information in regards to the drug."

"Oh that" Queen clicked her tongue as she placed her hand on her cheek. "I'd rather think you should earn it. Don't you Master Quince?"

"In case you have forgotten Miss Vancroft, there is still a bet between us. I have shared the information I got with you, even though I didn't have to. It is only fair that you do the same." Quince replied in a chilling tone.

"Not to mention" he continued in the same tone,"regardless of your position as my fiancée, I would still put you in jail if you lose the bet."

"Oh! You hurt my poor tender heart!" Queen wailed dramatically before letting out an evil grin. "When did I ever say anything about playing fair though?" Her Cat was really acting funny.

He talked as if he doesn't know that her family would never allow her to so much as be in 1000 meters of the police if they could help it. There was no way that she would end up in jail.

"Indeed Miss Vancroft? So you are saying, you would like to spend your time in jail?" Quince asked expressionlessly.

"Of course not Master Quince. But I digress. What do you want to know about the drug?" Queen asked.

"How do you know whether someone has that drug in their system?"

"Remember the miraculous result I mentioned about?"

Quince nodded to indicate that he did indeed remember it.

"That's how." Queen shrugged.

"Very enlightening." Quince replied sarcastically.

"Sarcasm doesn't become you Master Quince." Queen said with a wide smile on her face. So her cat could be sarcastic as well. How cute.

"I am this close to shutting you in a dark room before handing you over to the police tomorrow." Quince warned.

"Will you be inside the room with me?" Queen teased. She only got an extra icy look back from him. 'So humorless.'

Queen stuck out her tongue before saying," You talk as if you don't know my family. But you are right. I do intend to honor our bet."

Queen cleared her throat before saying seriously," That man had a problem with his kidney. It was in a severe condition, so much so that even the doctors have given up on him."

"He went to various doctors and tried to find the cure for it. But it was an unknown condition which kept him awake at night due to the pain. He eventually gave up and decided to continue with his work and ignored his condition."

Queen took a deep breath and said,"That was until he worked on a project with Airon involved. As he was mixing it, a micro millimeter of the chemicals' proportion went wrong. There was a minor explosion and his protective mask burned along with a part of his face. The smallest unit of chemical went inside his mouth and he fainted right away."

"He was immediately hospitalized and woke up to find that his kidney problem was gone. Not only that, all other organs that had minor problems disappeared as well. The face that was burnt so bad even technology couldn't fix it healed within 7 days."

The atmosphere that surrounded Queen suddenly became heavier as she thought of the incident. Quince noticed her grave expression before gently prodding her.

"Where is he now?" Quince asked.

"Dead." Queen said softly with expressionless eyes. "He was murdered as he was the living proof of the miracle. If anyone else found out about Airon, it would lead to many dead bodies in the process of trying to acquire it and eventually war."

"Do you know who murdered him? What about the data in regards to his health?" Quince asked.

"The government is still trying to find the murderer. As for the data about his body , it is now being secretly guarded by the government." Queen concluded.

Quince wondered about how Queen knew all these. Not to mention the fact that she was able to identify Airon with a whiff earlier. But he decided not to press her for it yet.

"So you are saying, we'll know if it's Airon in Mr.Bernard body if..."

"Yes, if his organs are doing extraordinary well. Once we compare his health checkup with his current organs' report, we'll know for sure." Queen confirmed what he wanted to know.

"Does Mr.Stuart not know about this as well?" Quince asked suspiciously.

"No, it is a top secret knowledge closely guarded by the government." Queen replied with a carefree expression on her face. The tense atmosphere immediately disappeared from the room.

"So that's about all I know." Queen grinned as she looked over at Quince. "Now, won't you tell me about that fan base of yours? I am your fiancée you know, I'll get jealous."

Quince looked at her with his usual signature non expression. He could see no emotion that resembles jealousy on her face. He could only see her carefree smile and mischievous glint shining in her eyes.

"Jealousy?" He asked skeptically.

"Ah-ha~ jealousy~" Queen nodded her head in confirmation.

"Jealousy is a petty and useless emotion Miss Vancroft. I already have a fiancée." Quince said with a nonchalant expression on his face as if he didn't even have to think about what he said. Like it was a must and natural course of action to do.

"Oh is that so?" Queen tilted her head before saying, "Are you trying to say that I don't have to worry about anyone else as I am the only one in your eyes Master Quince?"

Ooh~ another long chapter today. When I write sometimes I just think ‘Oh Quince, the ordeal I’m going to put you through.’ And I helplessly cackle like a witch.
