Chapter 2: Warm
And just like he said, he never left me alone. The interesting bit is that other ghosts were not cheeky enough to mess with him. I do not know why but that was a good thing since they were not bullying me anymore. Dominic... It was like he was protecting me all the time and I was growing up with him watching me. He was always there for me, even if it is for examinations which I never really studied and got high markings... You know, this was my specialty after all. When I was in middle school things have changed. Because of some "special" events, I was not feeling that comfortable and he was changed too. He was not the old kind and very affectionate Dominic, he was cheeky and witty. Well, that is not completely true because I always knew he was just happy and was acting like a child now that I was growing up. He was able to become like a normal human being 3 times in a year. The date he was born, died and... Halloween. Last year of high school, I wanted to go to the Halloween Part with the guy I liked. I went to shopping to prepare a good looking gothic themed witch costume. Dominic told me that he was not going to be there and I was very pissed of, so yeah. I did not talk to him for 2 days.
He was right, as always. He finally called me after making me wait there for a one great hour and said he was already there with his friends. At that very moment, I felt a warm, kind yet very excited hand on my hand. I was about to cry.
"Dominic... You... What are you doing?" He was not looking at me then he inhaled deeply.
"Sophie... I become like this only 3 days in a year and are you going to mess it up?" He was smirking and I was already hugging him.
When we went to the party everyone was looking at us. I was able to feel Dominic at that very moment and that was enough for me. I could feel the curious gazes on us but I did not even care.
"Thanks..." I murmured while handing him the beverage I did not know what was it.
"For what?" He asked.
"Dominic! I thought you wanted to come here, could you at least have some fun?"
"I'm having fun watching your funny expressions."
"You are so... You always make fun of me." He just smiled and looked into my eyes. Then he gently kissed my cheek.
"I've already told you that I'll always be there for you, Sophie." His arrogant gaze was suddenly wiped from his face. He was very kind to me.
"Thank you, Dominic. I'm glad you're with me." If I did not know him, I would have said he blushed out of embarrassment. But I do not think he would be embarrassed, I think it was just the warmth of the weather though, it was not warm.
