Chapter 53: Nezha's escape (5)
The rock slowly shifted its position, a slightly shifted even less than a foot yet enough to change the balance, its center of gravity moved and as the rock kept losing its balance it was falling to the flat place below.
Luckily no one was there.
When they set a camp, Nezha warned them about the area the rock falling now as the Ancestor has described that the place was dangerous, and when some wake up when the rock fell thought that the ancestors warn them in case that the rock would fell.
The truth was different, the Akkee sect ancestor who discovered it warned them because of something else.
The entire area was full with Mica, an easily crumble rock that got its name from Latin word Mica meaning a crumb.
Sometimes unlucky cave loving would fall under these natural pitfalls but that was mostly a warning story as there was no report of such thing. Well, if you fall deep you did not have a chance to come back to report anyway.
There was no loud bang but a dim sound of an object crashing against each other when the rock hitting the floor after a few seconds from its fell, this means that the hole was quite deep. Although this method of estimated distance was inaccurately its at least told that the hole was deep.
As the wind resistance was not much in the cave, Nezha could guess from the time spent the distance should be more than 50 meters. From the fragment of his time in high school, one second means 5 meters, two was around 20 and three seconds were around 70 meters.
"Everyone! Don't get close to that area," Nezha shouted, he also thought about the reason the rock that stood still for more than centuries suddenly fell, but he could not think of anything.
Normally explosion sound was shockingly loud if it exploded on the open plain the sound would reach to the area within the vicinity in a large radius and very fast as sound travel at a very high speed of more than 340 per second.
By now the outside was in a ghastly mess of confusion, very differently from the Nezha group inside the cave. In this case, the top of the mountain and the base was quite far and not in a straight line from top to bottom.
In some case, the cave with a complex path and sound diffuser material wall would not provide good sound travel.
"Nezha, the rock looks very heavy but why there was not a loud bang when it crashes with the ground?"
"I don't know. There may be a soft ground or water at the end, I guess."
"Is there water deeper underground? Aren't there already a pond here?"
"I don't know. There may be or maybe not."
"I hope there won't be anything bad happen, I want to escape together with anyone. And maybe we could meet my father and other people again."
"Hey! That's a death flag, please stop."
"What's do you mean by a death flag?"
"It's a jinx! You should not say anything or else you gonna meet with unfortunate events."
While Nezha talking with the girl, some boy in the group could not stop curiosity and went to look into the hole. Nezha's word hold some weight as he was the one the patriarch chose but he was a year younger than them, his words were not enough to stop these boys.
As always curiosity killed the cat.
"Hey! Did you see anything?" Another boy asked.
"I can't see anything in the hole. But there is a weird smell coming from the hole. Oh! I heard some sound from down below and the wind was warm." The boy who went to look inside hole try to look into the abyss, sadly for him, the abyss did not look back into him. Instead, it bleched and spat.

An hour before midnight at the empire army area.
In the camp behind the makeshift wall facing Akkee sect, Captain Abra's team was having a chatting inside the room they just found.
This room was found by Abra's team today. It was inside a cave at the nearby small hill, the inside of the cave was long and already explored a long time ago. It was a dead end cave with no connection to the outside and there was an underground river at the end of the cave. There may be a connection with the water route but the water was running too fast, so no one ever dared to try.
However, this room never knew by the outsider before, it was pure coincidence that his team found this room. Since the room inside the cave was more comfortable than the outside, he moved his team camp to this place.
"Captain, does moving to this place is a good idea?"
"You ask me to sleep here because it was more pleasant here than the outside, and now you are the one who opposes it? Don't worry, it's fine, as long as we don't get past the outer layer." Captain Abra told his subordinate.
Akkee sect was surrounded by the empire armies in two layers, the first layer was a makeshift wall surrounding the mountain in a circular shape at all side, while the second layer was looser than the first layer and provided some checkpoint on frequently use paths.
Each division would rest in a temporary base at the back after their shift end, but some could stay without going back between the two layers as long as their team arrived their post on time in the morning.
Abra's team found this room in the evening by pure luck as one of the earth magician just wanting to kill a time with his training. They then spent too much time exploring the room and decided to camp here instead of going back.
"Let's sleep, we did not go back to the garrison to save the time for sleep, so stop chatting" Abra ordered his team.
