Chapter 38: Siege at Akkee sect (3)
At the base of the mountain, David wore a dark suit made of rubber just like some certain night warrior, he did not put on the bat mask though.
He was alone in the dark without any retainers nearby or equipped with any sparkling ornaments, just like the old day when he alone went to fight and infiltrate behind enemy line.
"Umm. This is better than sitting on the desk with the mountain of documents. Isn't it Iris?"
"Isn't the siege was the best way to win? My master sure is strange."
"Yes, it is. It was not like I am trying to slaughter them with my self alone, I still besiege them but I want to make it quicker to finish it."
There were many ways to shorten the time needed for a siege.
by contact with a spy inside, by sabotage the defense building, by poison the food or by directly killed the enemy's head.
There was a problem with that. David needed someone to get past the first barricade and reached the living quarters on top.
But that was not an easy task, in the history of Akkee sect, no one ever succeeds.
Since he could use all attribute, at first he thought of flying through to the top, that would be the easiest and fastest method.
In spite of that, no matter many times he tried, he could not get past Akkee sect archwizard in charge of detecting and needed to find another way.
All magicians could use detect spell which did not need any attributes, it was the first step of everybody who aimed to be magicians. Since all magicians could felt the change of force surrounding them, they could use that concept to observe other magicians by using it like the vibration that spider use to notify them of its prey.
Unlike martial artists that invoked inside the body, all magicians used those power to tamper with nature and that would alarm people who using a detect spell, unless blocking by some metal, for example, mercury was the best material for created anti-magic weapon and defensive equipment.
There was a distinction in Noseth between sorcerer, warlock, and wizard just like what people on earth had. They would be called by what their communities like, some preferred to use their specialty.
A witch, druid, enchanter, magnus, xian even onmyoji and many others could be used to call a magician, there were many names because of Noseth's culture origin which very mishmash due to god interference, but the last mass transmigrated was stopped long ago, many people mixed their culture with each other and became a new style on its own.
But since all people were born with magic, the word wizard then used as a hierarchy class above normal magicians.
A trainee magician could observe around 1 - 10 meters radius, while a normal magician male or female could observe over 10 until 100 meters radius with themselves in the center. For 100 – 1000 a magician could call himself a wizard.
To become an archwizard, the person needs to be able to cover over 1000 meters radius.
Although detect spell was call spell it did not need any power to cast, but it still needs a lot of concentration to maintain the sense.
In a lot of case, most people who used detect spell died because of assassination by a projectile or simple knife instead of the offensive spell. As they would be unable to defend themselves while doing a deep meditation to concentrate.
The same method could use for deactivating the opponent spell casting by interfering with their wavelength, but this method for defense need the same amount power of those that casting and must be quicker in analyzing the opponent attribute.
The other way for the defense was sheer power. Who cared whether the opponent cast fire spell or water spell if you could put more than twice the power they used. Anyway, those with enough forces to do that could cast a quick spell to kill their weaker opponent rather than waiting for the opponent.
As Akkee sect natural fortress height around 1500 meters, the defense against magic was complete by putting arch wizard on the four corners of the mountain and one at the top.
If David chose to fly in to infiltrate, he would be detected and under fire by his enemy.
In the worst case, his flying spell would get tempered with and he fell under the enemy surround.
He thought of glider but the mountain Akkee sect situated at was a lone mountain surrounded by plains and woodland.
The shape of the mountain was like a cone shape from the top that suddenly became cliff from half, it was like someone gauged it out purposefully, the vertical cliff continued until the area around the base.
If David wanted to use a hang glider he needed some higher place, and it was not like he could control the glider that good without wind magic to help.
Iris could help to control his body for this hard to achieve job but in the case that the wind on the sky was not favorable magic would be used but that means the operation would be deemed a failure.
In the case that he flew himself above the cloud and stoped with the spell, it could be too cold or the wind may be too strong, the same problem would happen.
If using his inner force to help in controlling the glider, he did not sure he could do it by himself even Iris did not give him a 100 % chance of success for him.
Instead of relying on unsure method, David decided to try a very simple way to the top. He decided to climb.
