"Uncle Woden, this may be rude but you are already old, the climate on the south was hot and humid unlike here in the capital, you may fell ill. It's better for us who still young to go there" Albert said.
""Father, Let's us take this mission."" Both princes looked at each other and asked in unison, they did not have any hidden agenda they really cared for the people.
David felt a little bit ashamed that he did suspect even though a little that his sons were having a hidden motive.
Was it wrong for the emperor to look into his vassal motive?
In fact, it was not wrong for the ruler to suspect their vassal, however, as a father, David did not think it was right to suspect his own children.
It was not only David was only one to think that way, Solo, too. David silently glanced at Solo and Solo eyesight met with David, they knew without speaking what was on each other mind. Men relationship was deep, sometimes they can communicate without words but that may be why some women love to imagine it into something else entirely.
They just slightly chuckled at their thought but in the next seconds, their face slightly changed as they both knew the reason for Woden volunteering.
"Well, did both of you forget that your uncle Woden was a former grandmaster of the light tower?" David first showed support for Woden.
"Frankly speaking, Woden experience in healing and his healing magic is unmatched by any other, but counted your father out he is exceptional. Also, your royal highness still needs to learn a lot under my guidance."
"The disaster relief need not young inexperienced princes, you two should focus more on what at hand. You two should go now, I still need to discuss the relief plan with your uncles." David finished the conversation without listening to his sons' plea.
""Yes, father""
When the two princes then out of the office. the three people left in the dining room moved to the office, David then sat on the couch opposite of Woden.
Although David did not chase Solo out, the man himself too asked for leave. His face had a hint of saddening when looked at Woden and David then left. Solo did not like Woden stubbornness with his ideology but that did not mean Solo hated Woden, knowing his longtime friend going to the uncomfortable and destructed southern continent not gave him any good feeling.
When the room was left with only David and Woden. David started to speak.
"Is it good this way?"
"…I guess. Helping people who suffer was the good thing and I would be appreciated if you send me to take care of disaster relief."
"No…I mean… That's not the main reason, right? I know that you really want to help people who suffer, if this happens without another thing, I would not ask anything."
"…."
"Trust me, those people won't say any words of gratitude to you. For them, you were a part of people who bring them down from their privilege. Am I right?"
"Yes."
"Then, why?" It was not like he did not know but he still wants to ask.
"They may be snakes, and yes, I try to help them but they would not care or feel any gratitude to me. However, even if they bite me, I will continue to try to save them. They did not know about gratitude and that is their nature. But whatever they did, it can't change my nature who want to help it out of suffering. I can't change my nature just because they are narrow-minded and selfish." Woden answered with a self-mocking smile.
"You did not have to burden yourself with this task, I stopped those boys today doesn't mean I can't send someone else instead of you. If you chose this way, you can just go and have a paid leave. Don't worry, I won't cut your salary with this." David really meant what he said, the last part was a joke though.
"It's fine, I need to busy myself, or I will just worry about it."
"Fine, I understand. I will appoint you with this task and give you the full authority in the southern continent. Do whatever you see fit."
"Yes, your majesty." Woden got up from his seat and formally bowed to David before went out of the room.
When he was alone, David sat there with a difficult face. He did not directly chase his friend out but the result was the same, and he did not happy at all. The operation against magicians was already complete, to abort it at this time was not a question. The best result he wanted was Woden agreed with his plan or at least not outright oppose him in the court meeting, but it seemed that what he wanted would not happen.
"I want a cigarette, why would this place so closely resemble earth but don't have tobacco?" David complained. "Fine, just drinking is enough." He ordered for the vodka and savory dish after the steward brought it in David proceed on drinking alone.
A few hours passed, David too went out of his office. His body condition was good, but now he felt heavy with mental fatigue. He told the steward that he would sleep in his office because he thought of sleeping alone but he disregarded it.
He was a man reborn from the world with the concept of monogamy, however, he could not stand to let them be with other man and took them for himself. With that reason, he believes that it was his duty as a man to be with all of the women who love him at least once a week. Unless it was an emergency, he would fulfill it.
David walked on toward Alexandra's room and went inside once he reached her room. Since he told the steward that he would sleep in his office, even if the steward saw David walked out of the office he still thought that the emperor wanted to sleep alone in his personal bedchamber.
"Huh!" David saw Alexandra reading the picture book for his daughter.
"Ah! Papa." The girl heard David exclaimed and when she turned her head she saw David, the girl got off the bed and ran to hug David. David hugged her back and kissed his daughter rosy cheeks passionately.
"I'm sorry, there was no one told me that you will come today. Please, let me arrange someone to bring her to her room."
"It's fine. Why chasing her out?" David told Alexandra and turned to ask his daughter. "My sweetie, do you want to sleep together with papa today?"
"YES!YES!YES!"
Hearing what his youngest daughter said he smiled and brought her to the bed. David then started helping Alexandra read the picture book.
When he saw his daughter fall asleep, he kissed on her forehead before he too falls asleep. At least this time he was not an emperor, just a simple father.
