Liam and Izzy were back in their ship flying back home after finishing construction. They believed James would turn up sooner or later so there was no point in sticking around. They were wearing their matching sweaters again so their mother wouldn't feel bad. Izzy looked out the window and watched as planets whizzed by. The war had taken it's toll on people's lives but it seemed they were more prepared to rebuild than other thought. Cities that used to be barely visible from space were now hard to miss and the animals and plants had returned after being reintroduced from other planets. In a few more months it would seem as if the war had never happened in the first place.
Just then, Liam got a message come through on the ship. He opened, read it, and, with no surprise in his voice, turned to Izzy and said:
"James just turned up. He's gone with Jack to see a general or something." Izzy turned to him.
"And if my understanding is correct, it took him more than 7 quadnats to return which means that you lost the bet! Pay up!" said Izzy, holding out her hand. Liam reached into his pocket and pulled a bunch of metal hexagons. He counted a few and then handed them to Izzy who counted them herself before putting them in her pocket. "Don't work brother, it's for a good cause. With this I'll be able to buy that Carainium stabiliser and my project will be complete."
"You still haven't told me what your project is yet."
"You'll learn when the time comes. Now focus on driving. We're already home."
Liam turned back and happily greeted the familiar planet. Small, red, not very populated but it was still home. He landed the ship, grabbed his bags, and pressed a button beside the door. It opened but Izzy cut in front of him and gestured for a race. Liam launched off the ship making it sway backwards and then land back upright with a metallic crash. The two were neck and neck while running through streets of familiar faces all walking past him. Izzy took the high route while Liam took a more direct approach by running through alleyways and swinging from house to house like Tarzan. Home was in sight but Izzy slipped on a roof, fell onto Liam and them both tumbled up to the door.
"That must mean I win!" declared Liam.
"Oh hell no! I'm closest to the door!" countered Izzy, placing her hand on the door.
"But you landed on me and sent us into a roll!"
"You were in the way!"
"Oh my lord! Shut up, both of you!" shouted their mother she was about four and a half feet tall with black hair similar to Izzy's but wrapped up in a tight bun and she was wearing a brown cloak and sandals. She opened the door and dragged them inside.
"Now that you're back, you can help out around the house. As always, Liam, your on cooking duty and, Izzy, can you go help your father. That radio has been giving him a hard time." said their mother. Liam instantly got to work by instinctively got out all the ingredients and began too cut, dice, and shred. Liam had always been a good chef ever since he was six. He would help out his mother by getting the ingredients on the lower shelves but was soon making five star meals that everyone in the neighbourhood would gather to eat when the town festival came around. Izzy, on the other hand, had inherited her father's element and they would tinker and repair electronics he would find and gather in the town. Recently, the family's radio had suddenly stopped working but it was being quite difficult to repair. Izzy walked up beside her dad who nearly feel out of his chair in surprise. He had originally served in the army but an explosion had resulted in him going deaf. This meant only their mother could hear Izzy and Liam's squabbles. Her dad pointed at a blown capacitor. They cost quite a lot and the family was saving to move house. Boxes of electronics were already packed in the room but showed signs of rummaging. Izzy put her finger up indicating she had an idea. She brought out one of her daggers and grabbed two wires from the desk. She clamped one to the tip of the blade, the other to the handle, and then connected the two wires to the radio. Some sparks flew but the radio flickered to life.
'-peat, all residents of planets alpha one through to fifty seven are to evacuate immediately! All attempts by the elemental leaders to destroy the swarm of asteroids has proven unsuccessful.'
Izzy went white. She grabbed her father and ran downstairs.
"It's a code a thirty six! Asteroid swarm headed for planets alpha one through to fifty seven!" shouted Izzy. Liam realised that was why all the people in the town were going toward the landing zone. He grabbed his mother and they all ran outside into the street where the crowds had grown in numbers quickly. The four of them joined the stream and headed for the landing zone where eighteen massive transport ships had landed and were taking on passengers at a exponential rate. Everyone was boarded quickly, the engines kicked in, and the ships lifted off. Liam and Izzy watched through a window as a wall of white orbs wiped through their planet like it was nothing.
Liam noticed something. The ship wasn't going towards the normal rendezvous. He took Izzy with him and they made their way to the cockpit. Their was five people driving the ship but they were all panicking.
"What is going on in here!?" demanded Izzy. All five turned to them and instantly recognised them as the heroes who helped stop the war.
"It's the refugee planet. Their already full because people started having children. Even the backup one is full. There's nowhere for us to take these people!" explain one of the pilots. Liam and Izzy gave each other knowing glances and walked over to the controls. Izzy plugged a usb like drive into a port and a face appeared on a screen.
"IT'S BEEN SEVEN WEEKS AND THREE DAYS IZZY! WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN!?" shouted Aiden. Izzy raised her hands.
"Hey, we just haven't needed you until now." explained Izzy. Aiden looked off to the side.
"What do you want?" he asked.
"Can you upload the inter-spacial coordinates of earth to all the computers in this fleet?" asked Izzy. Aiden sighed. A bunch of numbers came up on the screen and the ship started turning towards earth.
"Earth!? They don't even have elementals!" complained another pilot.
"Our group has built a housing unit for people like us. They'll let us stay for as long as it takes for us to find a new planet." said Liam. The pilots didn't argue and they announced the detour to the passengers. Not knowing the mass extermination happening on Earth.
In the realm of the gods, Okubi watched as Jack launched assault after assault on the people of earth. It seemed to be a good idea giving him the scythe. Now all that was left was to collect enough energy and abilities and he'd be able to challenge me...
