Chapter 16: Letter of Resignation
Sammie was left speechless outside the restaurant. After several minutes her phone rings. She absentmindedly answered the call.
"Hello. Where are you?"
"I'm outside Mangiamo Italian restaurant." She inattentively answers.
"Wait for me."
The call was long ended but Sammie is still baffled. She keeps thinking about the conversation she had with President Lee. "Will he truly kicked me of the office?" she murmured. After a long while a white Maserati stops in front of her.
"Sammie, get in the car." The man lowered the window and instructed her.
She opens the door and step inside. When she heard the door locked she instantly looked at the person next to him.
"Kyle?" she exclaimed. She absentmindedly enters his car without thinking. Now she can't refuse him.
"What is wrong Sammie? You looked sick." He asked while looking at her.
She shook her head then suddenly Kyle approached her. His face is almost an inch closer to her. She was stunt and kept her breath.
"What are you doing?" she anxiously asked.
"Sammie, your seat belt." he answers as he fastened his seat belt.
"I saw you were in a dazed earlier. Are you not feeling well?" he worriedly asked while driving away from the restaurant.
"I am fine. Just tired." She avoided his gaze then closed her eyes and pretends to sleep. She doesn't want to continue chatting with him. In fact, she wouldn't let him give her a ride if she was not bewildered a while back.
"I'll bring you home." He remained silent and didn't bother her until they reached her place.
"Sammie, we are here. Wake up." He gently tapped her shoulder. He steps outside and opened the car door for her.
"Thanks for the ride. Goodbye." She turns her back and heads towards the lobby.
Kyle grabbed her hands "Wait Sammie can we talk?" he pleads.
"There's nothing to talk about. I need to rest now. I'm tired." She continued walking towards lobby. Kyle watched her back as she enters the condo.
"I'm not giving up on you Sammie. I know this time it's my fault. I'll prove to you that I'm still worth it of your love." He uttered as he steps in the car then left.
In the Hospital
Martin knocked twice on the door before entering the room. Grandpa Ben is still sleeping while Rebecca is lying on the sofa busy browsing her phone.
"You're here." She stands up and greeted his brother.
"I brought you food. How is Grandpa?" he handed the paper bag to her and sat on the sofa.
"He is doing good. The doctor said he will recover quickly." She happily updated him
"You can head back home. I'll stay here for grandpa."
"Brother. It's fine. I can stay here and watch grandpa. Just bring me clothes tomorrow. You looked so tired you better head home now and rest." She insisted.
"Alright. I'll be back early tomorrow. Goodnight." He walks toward the door and gently closed the door.

Sammie throw herself on the bed after changing to pajamas. She recalled what transpired that day. From being caught by President Lee to taking a ride home with Kyle.
"I'm very unlucky today" she exclaimed as she buried her face on the pillow.
She can't sleep. She kept tossing and turning on the bed. "What am I gonna to do? Do I need to prepare my resignation letter?" she exclaimed then stands up. She picked her laptop and turned in on. She started typing her letter of resignation then print it afterward.
"I should be ready in case. It's better to resign than be terminated." She then put the letter in an envelope then place it inside her back. She drank a glass of milk to help her calm down before heading back to sleep.
The next morning
Martin visits the hospital early and gave her sister food and clothes. Grandpa Ben is still asleep so he decided to head back to the office instead. Inside the car he received a call from his assistant. He placed him on speaker and answer the call.
"President Lee, Bausen Enterprise wants to discuss the new project Wednesday next week. Will the new Planning Manager join us?"
"Well. Yes. Inform HR immediately." The he ended the call
Sammie woke up with a heavy heart. She is reluctant to report for work but she have no choice. When she reached the office her heart started beating fast and she feels agitated. She immediately turns her computer on and open her email. She wanted to know if she already received a notice of termination.
"I haven't receive any notice yet but I can't be too complaisant. President Lee is not yet in the office." She murmurs.
Mr. Kim is waiting inside his office while holding several folders when President Lee arrived.
"Good Morning President Lee." Mr. Kim greeted him and he just nodded as usual. He then placed the folders on his table.
"Mr. Kim, how is the meeting with the land owners coming along?" he asked him as he sits down and turned on his laptop.
"Sir, as of yesterday 85% of the owners will join the meeting tomorrow and I will make a follow up today." he proudly answers.
"I see. Grandpa arranged a surprise birthday party for Rebecca next Friday. He needs to rest. I want you to take over." He then handed him the business card of the coordinator.
"Noted sir. I will take my leave now." He picked up the card and walks towards the door.
"Wait!" President Lee called him back.
"Yes sir, would there be anything else?" he confusedly asked.
"Ask Miss Saavedra to meet me my office after lunch."
"Okay Sir." then he left.
"Mr. Kim. You startled me. Why are you here?" she asked in surprised
"Why are you in a daze? President Lee wants to see you in his office after lunch." He anticipates her reaction.
Her face turned pale but she doesn't want Mr. Kim to notice so she lowered her head and answered. "I'm busy with work. I'll be in the president's office after lunch."
"Is there something bothering you Sammie?" he worriedly asked upon seeing her reaction.
She forced a smile and looked at him. "No I'm good. I have loads of work after my holidays. You know it's kinda stressful. He he"
"I see. I'm off now. Bye!"
