Chapter 11: It's all your fault
"Enough! "he shouted while cutting her off. "Do you think I'm that stupid to still believe you? You were cheating on me." he paused for a few seconds then hold back his tears "I can't do this anymore. Let's end this and break up." Then he walks towards the door.
She runs after him, pulls him back and wrapped her arms around his waist. "Please Kyle let me explain. It's really not what you think it is. Please just hear me once." She buried her face on his chest while sobbing.
"I had enough Sammie. It's over." She holds her shoulders as she pushed her away. He then turned around and left.
Speechless, Sammie cried the whole night so when she wakes up the next day her eyes were swelling. She picked her phone up and called Kyle. His phone is still unattended. She sends him a text message. [Let's talk Please] then return to sleep. It was already noon when she woke up but no reply from him. Her stomach is aching since she didn't have dinner and breakfast. She head to the kitchen and forced herself to eat noodles then took a shower and dress up. She checked his apartment but no one is around. His office is already empty. He tried calling his mother but she is not answering the call so she decided to head over to their house. It's already night time when she arrives. She rang the doorbell twice before someone opened the door.
"Miss Samantha, come inside." It's Lily their house maid.
"Is Kyle there?" she asked while following Lily inside.
"He is not here but Madam is in the living room" then she head back to the kitchen.
In the living room
"Good evening Auntie." She just nodded and continue reading the magazine without inviting her to sit down.
"I'm looking for Kyle. Do you know where he is?" Sammie asked while standing in front of her.
"Sammie, you have the audacity to show your face here after you cheated on him?." She looked at her disdainfully.
"Auntie, I can explain. It's just a misunderstanding." She lowered her head to hide her teary eyes.
"Hold it. I don't want to hear your explanation. Kyle left and who knows when he'll be back. It's all your fault. Now I can't see my son anymore." She stands up then walks towards the dining area. "You can leave now." She said as she continues to walk.
Flabbergasted, Sammie remain still in the living room in shock for a minute. Kyle left and that he'll might never return, her whole world came crashing down. She never thought that this scenario will happen to them. They were in a relationship for three years. How can he just throw it away just like that? And the worst part is Kyle never let her explain. She left the house devastated. Determined to find him she asked for a week leave in the office to look for him. She searched everywhere but still didn't find him.
Sammie experienced serious difficulties accepting that Kyle already left her. She became absent-minded. She barely smile. Until one day she realize that despite everything she does he'll never return.
Thus she devoted her time and energy to work. She started spending more time with her friends. She now finds time to pamper and take care of herself. She began setting her life's goal since her world no longer evolves around him. Days became weeks then months and a year had past. She no longer felt any pain when she remembers him. She is more comfortable talking about him. She no longer yearns for him. In short she already moved on and his idol crush Chris Monteverde takes a huge part. She was ease for a long while until he showed up again.
Sammie still has two more days to enjoy her paid time off. The next day she decided to meet Cathy at the restaurant they own. The restaurant's soft opening is on Saturday so they are busy preparing.
"Hello Cathy, everything set for Saturday?"
"Almost. Still on leave?"
"Yes, do you need help?" she smiled at her and the staff.
"No need, we're almost done. Have a seat first. Let's complete a taste test." Then Cathy walks towards the kitchen. When she came back she brought two large plate and placed in on the table.
"Here, try these. Give me your feedback. If it's good enough, I'll put in on the menu" she excitedly passed her the utensils.
Sammie tried the truffle pasta then the Prosciutto Caprese Panini. She offered both the dish two proceed which pleased Cathy.
"Cathy, he's back." She casually said while eating.
"ha? Who's back? She starred at her in confusion.
Sammie puts her fork down, took a deep breath then looked at her "Kyle, he's back. He showed up last night."
"What? Why? Did he hurt you? Did he tell you his whereabouts? What happened?" Cathy continuously asked.
"Wait. Which one would you like me to answer first?" she gave a gentle smile.
"Hmm. You are smiling. What does it mean? Sammie, answer me honestly." She asked with a stern look on her face.
"He said, he discovered that Karen framed me and that he wants us to be together again." she calmly replied then drinks her juice.
"And don't tell me you accept it?" she crossed her arms while waiting for her reply.
"I did not!" Sammie exclaimed "Why would I? Besides I already moved on. Remember my dream man waiting for me." She jokingly said.
"Seriously Sammie, you even have the guts to joke around? I can hardly imagine how that B*tch did those malicious acts. Wait, what did you tell Kyle?"
"I told him that I no longer love him and that I already have someone else." she answered positively
"You already have someone else? Since when? You dare keep a secret from me Sammie?" Cathy was somewhat anxious
"Yes I do. His name is Chris Monteverde, remember." she giggles while saying his name.
"Sammie! stop fooling around. It's annoying. Did Kyle bought your alibi?
"He didn't believe me. He said that he'll make me realize my true feelings for him."
"Do you no longer love him?" Cathy curiously asked.
"I have loved him then hated him after what happened but eventually I've learn to let go." she paused for a minute then took a deep breath "When I saw him again I felt a piercing pain in my heart, I cried and I feel sad but not because I still love him. I felt wronged, I was accused of being a cheater and now that the truth came out, I finally received justice for what transpired that night." her eyes wells up.
Cathy sat beside her and pat her back. "What you plan to do with him?"
