A distortion in the calm wind caused a sound.
The first of them was like a vacuum, created due to the simple thrust of an object.
After some time only the smell of blood and the sound of some people gasping remained.
Dead bodies covered the ground while blood was splattered all over the nearby trees and rocks. Crevices arose on the ground while the fauna present there, all either were destroyed or on fire except one tree which looked like it can stand yet another 100 years.
A carriage with some white coloured horses which had horns coming out of their forehead was surrounded by long-eared, brown-haired pale-looking elves which were covered in wounds. The carriage was the only one remaining out of the various carriages whose debris can be seen in this place.
In the middle of it all, there was a sole Elf standing whose brilliance shined even after getting covered in blood. He instinctively drew an arrow out of thin air and locked it in his simple-looking bow and released it making yet another man fall.
The humans, orcs, dwarves and other races present there were wearing heavy armour with some having swords that were bigger than their own bodies, some had a cloak and a wand and some were lurking in the shadows with light armour equipped with skills of the darkness, a bow and a dagger or two.
They mercilessly kept attacking the elves that were surrounding the carriage while the people who were equipped with magic or long-ranged weapons tried to attack the carriage directly but due to all the elves only being equipped with bows and arrows, they were not able to hit it. They could not even touch the horses with their attacks.
Even in the most desperate of situations they only drew their bows but never used the dagger or sword that were scattered around.
The sole elf also never took out the dagger from its sheath. All the other elves beside him were either dead or writhing in pain, unable to fight. This man had a large stab wound on his left arm but he was still using it to either hold the bow or to draw the string while changing hands which looked like as he was casually tossing around his weapon but his breaths were heavy.
The man fired arrow after arrow in quick succession killing the huge crowd of armed people which were surrounding the area in just one hit. The people were killed even if they were not visible by one eye or cannot be sensed by natural senses. The people who tried to stop the arrows with their weapon were left with their head or heart crushed and a broken weapon.
The place was covered by forest on both sides with large rocks carved with words in some places. Some enemies were coming from inside the forests on mounts and some had magical tools with them which looked like cannons, clunky metal armours and laser swords but the arrows from the sole elf killed them nonetheless. His stance and drawing speed were like light, passing through any medium and flowing without any interruptions. None of the arrows was drawn in vain. But due to the number, the size and the hardness of armours the enemies were wearing even the Sole Elf was lagging in drawing his arrows but drew them with all his strength as he knew that even a moment delay may give the enemies an upper hand in reaching the carriage.
Another factor here was that the light armoured, even some of the heavily armoured people had Godspeed. They kept coming like flies but their attacks never touched the Elf. This was now just a battle of endurance, which the elf was winning with only his instincts while grinding his teeth.
The carriage which was surrounded had two children in it with two other women. It was reinforced by magic and had a barrier surrounding it. The brown-haired lady was drawing her bow while the blonde lady held hands with the children.
They were all silent inside the carriage. The children were silently sitting in the middle of the carriage in their protection. Occasional sounds in this silence made them startled in every moment.
A grin appeared in the silence, the brown hair that was swaying in the carriage was nowhere to be seen now. Drawing a stick from the back of her dress, the blonde women drew her bow, the grin disappeared with the arrow. Drops of blood touched the ground.
It was a rather shallow wound on the women's arm while the man with two red coloured daggers had an arrow attached to his legs and his shoulder. Her legs were shaking but kept a firm hold of her bowstring. A deep cut appeared on the women's arm while the man had an arrow in his abdomen. Making a gesture with his hands, the man jerked the daggers and a red aura started surrounding it.
Time seemed to have stopped for the children there. Painted red with the blood of the attendant, struggling to even produce a tiny squeak as the things that were happening in front of their eyes were too fast.
Holding each other tightly, they knew that they had to escape while their mother was fighting. Picking up the small body he was holding tightly, the boy ran out of the carriage.
The Blue sky now changed its colour to red as they kept running. Arrows that have pierced the men that were in the air, made them return to the ground.
"Run!! Don't look back!"
Firmly she drew another arrow targeting the men who were chasing the children. The arrow flew while she turned around and attacked the man with the corner of her bow, blood spewed on both sides.
Distancing herself, she tried to draw her arrow but she couldn't find it. She coughed up blood as her body lost strength and her knees touched the ground.
"It's really a waste killing such a beautiful woman."
The grin again appeared on the man's face and he then disappeared in the eyes of the children and then reappeared in front of their mother. The mother protected herself with her bow and tried to parry the attack of the assailant but she was unable to do so as another dagger came from the side of her face. She pushed the dagger which she was protecting herself again with her bow and then rotated the bow with her fingers and used that momentum to attack the assailant. The assailant which had his stance messed up due to the sudden push didn't seem like he can dodge the attack but he stood firm in his messed up stance and at the moment of impact swiftly came to the left side of the women, she quickly tried to move away from him but still received a cut on her neck.
"You seem to be quite reserved. I had heard great things about the elven queen, is this it for that glorious princess who was worthy enough to marry one of the strongest men in this world that even rose above all the others?"
The queen was gasping heavily but was alert enough to not fall for his talk. He disappeared again and when he reappeared an arrow was on his neck while his dagger was on the queen's neck.
"So, it's true that you're quite the strong opponent. But you're still not strong enough to protect people all around you, you'll die a worthless death if you just stood there with half of your strength."
The assailant disappeared yet again and then when he reappeared an arrow approached him, the queen was holding the bow in her right hand with the string in her mouth, still tattered, having wounds on her body and blood flowing from her left arm. The arrow pierced through the abdomen of the man but he was unfazed and didn't even pay attention to himself.
"What do we got here? A woman that is begging for it? I may fulfil your wish of killing everyone here that is dear to you"
"You can't kill him even if you tried training yourself for a century. It was just luck that you accomplished to touch me. You may kill me but you'll not get to any others if that is the case"
The women still in her tattered state said those words. A grin again appeared on the man's face but it soon vanished into a serious one and he stepped one step ahead disappearing. The women gritted her teeth turned to her back blocking several attacks but was still taking cuts. It seemed that she was being pushed back but she still attacked him when the opportunity arose.
In the distance, the two brothers were dumbfounded by the fight that was taking its course without them being able to know their movements. The big brother just carried the smaller brother like a rag and started running watching how the fight was faring. The path on which they were travelling was filled with dead bodies and soldiers that were crippled.
"We'll find others now and tell them to help mother"
"Do you really think that a person that killed Annet that easily and is fighting while making mother take on the defensive will get stopped by some mere soldier?"
Said the small brother while having a grim expression on his face.
"More people means that it'll get easier to stall that person. He seemed like a rogue assassin, he shouldn't be able to take on multiple people at the same time and with all of them being bow and arrow wielders he will be forced to keep his distance"
The smaller brother stayed silent and tried to resist his brother's grip. The big brother was silent even after feeling his brother's resistance, he made his grip firmer but his brother still remained silent and started thrashing around on his shoulder. He tripped due to the sudden disturbance. The smaller brother didn't concern himself with his wound that he got by that rash landing and took a bow and quiver from a dead body while sprinting at full speed.
"WAIT!"
"It'll not concern anyone even if I died. Don't worry! It'll not be in vain ."
After saying that, he sprinted at full speed. The big brother tried to stand but couldn't as he had broken his ankle. He gritted his teeth and punched the ground in anger but still unable to stand he supported himself on his hands and started screaming in order to find a soldier.
The queen was breathing heavily trying to catch her breath while the man was moving at speeds that caused the air surrounding him to dissipate and create a vacuum, the queen was still trying to parry his attacks but her state was getting worse now being lost a lot of blood from the man's attack. She had tried to use healing magic to patch herself up but the man was too quick for her to execute the spell. The man reappeared again going for her heart this time, but his attack was blocked by her bow again. At that moment when he was about to disappear again, an arrow came that grazed his back. He stepped back from the queen as quickly as he can.
"Why have you come back?"
The queen said quietly as she saw the person who shot the arrow.
The smaller brother had used all of his strength to draw the bow but his aim was still not accurate. He was still dazed that his arrow grazed that man. A terrifying aura came creeping behind him trying to cut his neck but it was gone as a whistling sound appeared in the air. The queen has fired an arrow while trying to tend to her left arm by tightening a cloth on it.
"Looks like I still have to kill you before going to anyone else"
The man came to the queen and tried to cut her head but was attacked in his abdomen but he didn't lose his focus and calmly made distance between him and her. The boy was trying to shoot an arrow on the assailant but was missing again and again. He just had one arrow remaining.
"God damn it! You're an annoying brat!"
The assailant shot a bunch of throwing knives towards the kid's direction. The queen tried to move towards the knives but was dealt a lethal blow on her leg by the assailant and was unable to move now. The boy rolled on the ground and got behind a broken carriage but was still inflicted with pain on his stomach. When he saw that a knife was on his stomach and started losing his consciousness but held firm to his wound while trying to take out the knife.
The queen was being assaulted by the man with a multitude of attack. She was not able to move now but was still keeping his focus on herself. She had been inflicted with cuts on her face and her hands were vibrating from this prolonged fighting. The assailant took the chance and stabbed his dagger in her shoulder.
When the kid saw that while trying to keep his consciousness, he lost all his reasoning, took a sword from a nearby body and sprinted towards the assailant, thrusting his sword in the assailant's back he felt too much resistance but he used all of his strength trying to thrust the sword. The assailant turned back leaving his dagger on the queen's shoulder.
"You think that would be enough to kill me?"
The assailant swung his dagger on the small boy's neck but was unable to do anything to him as an arrow pierced through the side of his nose. He disappeared again but this time he was nowhere to be seen.
The boy saw his brother having a bow in his hand with some soldiers and his mother sitting beside the carriage tattered and covered in her own blood and then lost consciousness.
I am new to this kind of writing so, expect a lot of grammar mistakes. But, I still hope you like the first part of it. If you find it boring then tell me in the comments, I'll try to shorten it a bit.
This isn't the full first chapter but when I write it and do some editing, I'll just merge the two of them.
