"That'll be 70 cents. You need a bag?" +
"Nope."
"Goodbye."
As soon as the person left, I turn to little Daniel and sigh.
"Wow, not even a thank you? What a rude guy." I say annoyed and look at him.
Daniel didn't look too pleased with this job right now, which I can totally understand. The employer only gave little Daniel the job because big Daniel asked him to.
"Hey-" Before I could even finish the sentence, three guys, who I identify as my classmates, enter the shop and ask Daniel for 4 packs of cigarettes. Daniel hesitates.
"Can I see your ID please?" He asks them nervously. One guy takes out an ID which clearly isn't his.
"Here you go."
"Um.. that doesn't look like you.."
"Huh?! I gained weight.. okay?"
Annoyed, I speak up.
"You expect us to believe you? Stop fooling yourself."
He flinches slightly, he probably didn't notice me there. When he sees me, he starts to panick a little since I know his real age.
Before he could answer, someone else enters the shop and leans against the door.
"Hey! Let's just go somewhere else! Stop messing around!"
Zack Lee.
He takes a good look at Daniel and me.
"The transfer student. And.." He stares intensely at Daniel. He seemed to have recognised him because he started smirking.
"Who do we have here? Hey. We're good here. Get a bunch of booze too, hehe." He says smugly and smirks at Daniel.
"Excuse you?" I slam my hand on the counter and glare at him.
"Zack Lee. Buzz off. Or do you want me to tell the teachers what you do in your free time?"
He glares at me harshly.
"Stay out of this."
The guys behind him start to whisper.
"You think he's pissed because Mira turned him down?"
"She has eyes for the transfer guy now, right?"
"Geez, they went on a date and now it's over?"
Zack seems to boil right now. I remember this part of the comic clearly. He's going to hit little Daniel out of anger.
Am I going to let him? Hell no.
Daniel was mumbling something when Zack looked down angrily and spoke up.
"Hey. Truce is off."
"H-Huh?"
It was as if I could see the fist coming towards him in slow motion. Before Zack's fist could reach Daniel's face, I get in front of him and block the punch.
His punch is powerful
But i more powerful than him.
For a moment, everyone was silent. Zack and I stayed in the same position as he stared at me pissed. Slowly he leans back and puts his arm down.
"Why."
I look at him confused for a moment.
"Why are you defending this pig?"
This sentence pissed me off. I couldn't explain the conflicted anger inside of me right now. How can humans be so cruel?
"It's simple. This so called pig is my friend! And his name is Daniel not pig. Remember that name Zack Lee."
The chubby guy behind me looks up and stares at me in slight awe. I almost forgot.. Daniel never heard anyone address him as a friend.
The name "Daniel" seems to trigger Zack a little too much because he looked past me at little Daniel and glared at him. I sigh in frustration.
"Zack. Leave. Before I call the cops."
He glares at me for a while and says nothing. Seeing how I hold his stare, he looks back at the other guys and turns around.
"Let's leave. Bunch of losers here anyway." And like lost little puppies they follow their leader out.
I sigh in relief and look over at Daniel smiling.
"You okay there buddy?"
"Y-Yeah.." He was still staring at me with amazement in his eyes. I grin widely at him.
"Well then. I have to go. It's getting kinda late.. Take care Daniel. And if anyone bothers you, just call me! I'll be there for support. Heh." With that, I put my jacket on and leave the store with a smile on my face. 4
What I didn't know was that after a while Daniel took his phone out to call his mother.
"Mom? I made a new friend."

It was day again. I slowly make my way out of bed and stretch lazily. Why do I have to go to school? After my daily routine, I walk out, meet Daniel and walk to school with him.
"Hey, there he is!"
"Oh damn!"
"He's like a cartoon hero.
"Look at his figure.." +
I roll my eyes slightly annoyed. If I had a penny every time they said something like that..
When I entered the class with Daniel, Zack's "gang" went silent. Zack himself was glaring at me like I was his biggest enemy.
"Ooh hi Jun Gu! Come here! They have something funny to tell us!" Zoe says excitedly and smiles sweetly at ne. Curiously i stepped closer to them.
"Yesterday Zack beat up a pig and-"
"So you're spreading lies now?" I say before anyone could continue this fake story. Such liars.
Zack seems to get nervous. His body's tense right now.
"What?" Zoe asks confused.
"He's lying. Zack didn't beat him up. He tried. Yet failed miserably." I say coldly and look at him.
"Isn't that right Zack?" I smile a fake smile as I raise my voice slightly embarrassing him in front of Mira. He stays quiet but he's visibly sweating nervously. He's not even looking at me.
He probably didn't expect me to expose him like this. Maybe he thought that I didn't want anyone to know that I'm hanging out with Daniel. If he did then he's mistaken.
Meanwhile Daniel was looking down next to me. He clenched his hand into a fist.
They were making fun of him.
