The golem itself seemed to stop its attacks noticing the arrival of Talia and Sagar, looking at the two of them with a singular glow shining from within it almost like it was the golem's eye. While the golem was doing this Talia and Sagar got ready to help Umbra take it down with Talia retreating back a bit while Sagar was getting ready to cover the two girls from the golem's attacks.
Since Sagar had rushed over here he didn't have time to grab his saber but with the progress he's made in his martial arts it shouldn't hinder him too much. He just wouldn't be able to use any sort of slashing attacks which would work better on this golem but with Umbra and her longsword they should be able to make up for this.
Talia started off the counter assault against the golem waking it from whatever it started doing when Sagar and her arrived. She launched a simple but powerful explosion towards the golem knocking it off balance along with it uprooting a couple of trees from it's stumble. The attack managed to break through the defenses of the golem but didn't do too much damage itself and any damage that was delt was healed. More specifically the golem gathered some of the earth from beneath it while moving other parts of itself to heal letting it retain it's form while getting rid of injuries in a efficient manner.
The light within the golem grew violently brighter while it somehow let out some form of screech. It's screech was almost like the sound of two metals rubbing roughly against each other that was really grating on the ears. Anyway because of Talia's attack the golem began to rage about honing in on Talia herself hoping to strike her. The movement of the golem was in a running stride and along with it's weight it caused the ground around the trio to quake.
Running at a speed that surpassed Sagar's expectations he quickly tried to respond using the 'Explosive Maneuver' technique to jump in front of the golem then gathering the explosion element on his fist and released a strike. Normally Sagar wouldn't use the full output of his explosions out of fear of hurting anyone but this only applied to people he was sparring or having a match with, against someone like this that meant to not only harm him but people he cared about he wouldn't hold back in the slightest.
The resulting attack had a somewhat desired effect with Sagar's attack delivering a large explosion directly onto the golem damaging it more than when Talia attacked but there was one thing Sagar forgot about. It was similar to whenever he was fighting the alpha wolf a couple years back, he might be able to match the strength of the creature but there was no way to match the mass of it whenever its size was greater than his own. After Sagar's fist hit the golem even with the explosion countering the force the golem exerted Sagar was still sent flying back from it's charge.
Since he had been in many other battles since his fight with the alpha wolf Sagar was able to properly react and stop himself from being sent too far out but the golem itself was still charging towards Talia. It seemed that it wasn't pissed off from the amount of damage she dealt to him, as even though Sagar did more damage to it and it continued it's charge towards Talia, but rather was upset about Talia interrupting whatever it was doing. Talia herself wasn't showing any fear in front of the golem and instead was making preparations before it got close to her.
Before Sagar could make his way back he say that Umbra cast some spells of her own to try and stop the charge of this golem. What shocked Sagar was that she actually cast two spells at the same time showing that she knew how to dual-cast. Sagar had been trying to learn that particular spell for some time now and knew that it was difficult to achieve at this level of power.
Anyway this had been the first time Sagar had also seen Umbra cast any sort of spell so he was curious about what their effects would be. Looking closely Sagar wasn't sure if he was seeing correctly or not but the weight of the golem actually increased with it's steps destroying even more ground but this wasn't something the golem was used to so it's speed started slowing down. From the golem's shadow tendrils shot out of it starting wrap around it trying to restrict it's movement.
Sagar could tell that these two effects were from the spells that Umbra had casted one being the specialized magic element shadow while the other one Sagar wasn't completely sure. He could come up with some guesses as to what elements were able to achieve an effect like the one he had seen but he wouldn't know for sure unless he asked Umbra.
Taking this chance to finish up her preparations Talia unleashed the spell she had been preparing. Above the golem a large sphere appeared that radiated immense power even from the distance that Sagar was at and seeing this spell she used quickly made his way back to the two girls. The spell Talia casted was a particularly powerful one called 'Nova Sphere', which required a good amount of energy to cast. He guessed Talia wanted to end this fight fast before the golem could do something dangerous and was using this spell to do so. The spell itself didn't really have a level of power to be able to cast those of the Novice rank could use it as well as the only energy it used was whatever the caster had left within their body. The spell would then unleash a devastating blast on whoever it was casted on completely destroying the body of whoever received it.
Sagar quickly made his way to them because the ensuing blast would result in both Talia and Umbra getting severely injured because of how close they were. The golem sensing the power of the spell casted by the small human it tried attacking started to struggle with all it's might to break out it's bindings causing the ground around it to start to tear apart.
Before the spell could completely be casted Sagar arrived at the site grabbing both girls and quickly retreating. He couldn't make it far before the 'Nova Sphere' lowered from the air onto the golem engulfing the upper body of it before the expected explosion happened. Sensing the imminent explosion Sagar stopped moving and shielded the two girls with his body while at the same time raising some barriers up with the final barrier closest to his body being infused with his Almighty element.
The sphere the collapsed in on itself before it started expanding rapidly eventually engulfing the trio in its radius. The explosion was destroying everything in it's path with the trees being violently destroyed whenever it approached them. Sagar could feel his barriers crumbling on after another until it landed on his final barrier. Unlike his other barriers this one didn't start being destroyed as soon as it touched the blast. Sagar could only hope it lasted long enough to outlast the explosion.
The explosion didn't last that long only a couple of seconds before all the energy dispersed leaving a crater about half a kilometer in size behind. All that was left of the golem after the blast was its core which was cracked in several places and was completely dim as it had run out of energy. The fact that the core was still in such a state after receiving such a devastating move showed how strong this particular golem was. If it had not run out of energy the golem would probably be trying to form its body again from the earth around it.
As for the trio, they fared much better than the golem. Sagar's final barrier managed to last until the final moments of the blast where some of the energy was able to leak through and sear his back a bit. Since the energy was weakened before it had hit his back he was relatively uninjured and he breathed out a sigh of relief that everyone managed to get out of this fight without being hurt.
Letting go of both of Talia and Umbra he saw that they were sort of dazed from this experience. Especially Talia as she really didn't expect this output of power from her spell and even then she thought she would at least be able to contain it. She felt she had almost killed her only friends with it and went into a sort of state of shock making her start to tear up at the fear of what her reckless might have caused.
Sagar was about to say something to Talia before he was interrupted by a tired voice ringing out from in front of him.
"Man, you kids know how to cause some trouble."
Looking at the person in front of him Sagar was surprised to see that it was actually Mr. Stoor from his 'Unique and Specialized Magic' class.
Hope you enjoyed the chapter.
